Thinking about requesting first floor Niue. We always just get a GV room and DD wants to be close to GCH. I am trying to decide between Niue and Rarotonga. I don't want a room without a balcony, though. Any opinions?

I'm with you! About 2 weeks ago, I celebrated the 16th anniversary of my 29th birthday! How can DD be almost 18?!

Do you mean balcony OR patio? Request 3rd floor Rarotonga or Samoa if you specifically want a balcony, or 1st or 3rd floor Niue, Rarotonga or Samoa if you want a balcony or patio. We have stayted 1st floor Rarotonga and 3rd floor Samoa and we loved both locations, but the view is generally much nicer on the 3rd floor, in our opinion. We LOVED our balcony in Samoa!

Just an FYI, I am told by my travel agent that WDW is really not looking at room requests anymore. I'm told that the rooms are assigned randomly by a computer based on view category without regard to specific building requests. I'm told if you don't like your location, you can request to be moved upon check-in, but that is the way it's being done now. Supposedly the new computer assignment system is called "LILO." Any TAs out there with any more detailed info on this?

I haven't heard what your TA has told you. I'm not saying it isn't true, but I know many peoplr get what they request.

Yes, we have always gotten our request in the past. It was presented to me like this is a new thing heading forward. It will be interesting to see what happens with ressies being made now. Honestly, it really doesn't make much sense to me that Disney would move forward with such a program that seems exceptionally unfriendly to consumers!

This will make me very, very sad if it's true. That said, I am picking up DS at the airport at 9:30AM on 8/5 and we are heading straight to the Poly to check in (DH,DD and I are spending 8/4 at Universal and DH and DD are spending the day with Harry Potter). So if we don't like the room we are assigned, hopefully we will be able to get moved to one of our liking since many won't have checked in yet that day. I know we will have to wait for our room since it will be so early. Probably will head to a park if he's not too tired. He's flying from Cali to Chicago on 8/4 catching a few hours sleep at our home and then catching a 6AM flight to Orlando. I just want a room with a balcony or patio that is close to the GCH. Hopefully, that won't be too hard to accommodate.

I forgot you have a DD graduating HS, too. We just had DD's grad party this past weekend, too. 40 of her friends in our backyard. Actually, it went great. She has a really nice group of friends. Now that all the grad stuff is done, I have more time for Disney planning - as you can tell.
