Although I love going to WDW with family, I LOVE going solo as well. I'm a pretty independent person anyway, so doing Disney World solo is no big deal. I never leave the property, so I don't rent a car. Once I'm on Disney property, it's either a boat, bus or monorail trip to where ever I want to go. It may sound selfish, but I get to go where I want, when I want. Dine where & when I want. Go on an attraction 10 times or skip some all together when I want. I love doing early entry into the parks, not necessarily for the attractions, but to really take in all the sights and sounds the parks have to offer. I love to read, so I always have a book in my backpack. Out it comes when I am waiting for a parade or show to start or when I'm dining. I find that the CM's at the various restaurants I've dined at have been very nice and respectful of my dining alone and have received excellent service most of the time. The characters are great too! When I went in 2003, I went around and tried to get my picture taken with as many characters as I could. No problem waiting in line with a bunch of kids. Just nicely asked the CM that's with a character if they could please take the picture and the CM & character were great! I've seen all of the parades, so I skip those, except SpectroMagic. Another plus at going solo, is the singles line on some of the attractions. I LOVE Test Track and went on like 5 times in a row. The CM's got a kick out of it! I love strolling down Main Street, looking up at the windows, listening to the soft music playing in the background. I take a ton of pictures everytime I go. Helps remind me of the great trip I had and makes me look forward to the next one. When I was waiting for Spectro to start in 2003, a nice family sat next to me and we had a great conversation. So you can still strike up conversations with either other guests or cast members if you like. I guess I just like the freedom of going solo.
