Who Wants To Try a DIS-Meet At Gulf State Park In May-June 2016?

:offtopic:
Ed, Space X launched today and landed the first stage on the barge. Watched via webcast. And now we return you to your regular scheduled Memorial Day weekend programming.

I watched it too, Chris. They STUCK the landing although they missed dead center by about 2 feet <humph>. The engineer in me says they should be able to find 2 more feet SOMEWHERE. :happytv:

It never gets old, does it?

Bama Ed

PS - waiting for some video from a chase plane to post on the web of the landing.

Reading this thread now is like finally getting to see the next Star Wars movie after the long anticipation of the trailers, cast interviews, etc.... Finally the moment has arrived to watch (well, read and see pics of) the show!

Been great. The three of us have spent most of the evening discussing various things including getting to watch Jim back into his site tomorrow.

The Mickey Lamps are up and going

We are packed up. Bert is doing some work and I am in bed. Unfortunately I have the creeping crud. Feeling better but it's in my chest. Skipped my swim today, and no exercise tomorrow, this better be over by Sunday, am planning an 8 mile run through the park. Will let you know when we get out but hoping to be in by 3 cst (I forget I get an hour).

Jim, no worries with your site, I could fit my 43' 5er with no problems, and there is pently of grass to park your dually, it's all good here in the trailer hood.

Oh BTW Teamubr, we'll need a good ETA so we can be waiting and watching, already have the popcorn on stand by,popcorn::
Thanks Randy. After figuring out I was next to Michael instead of across from him, I figured we'd be fine.

We made it to Athens GA about 930. Drove through storms for the first 150 miles. A few were seriously windy with torrential rain. Lots of people pulled over on the shoulders. The rain and some unexpected construction in central Illinois got us about a half hour behind. Good thing was we didn't hit Nashville until 8 and there was no traffic.

Did about 420 miles today. GPS says less then 400 tomorrow. Not sure when we will hit the road in the morning. Probably by 8. Ed, we'll wave at you as we go by between 930 and 10. If we get going by 8, we should be in by 2:30 or 3. Er... I mean 6. Yep, 6pm it is. Never mind the 3 o'clock comment earlier. Start setting up chairs by 530 or so or you will miss the show. :-)

Jim, your site is right across from, we'll watching for you around 2:30..... I mean 5:30, yall have a safe drive down today.

Cloudy but comfortable this morning, the weather lady slight chance of some sprinkles this morning, I was promised a early breakfast by tiggerdad but I haven't seen him moving around yet,

Here's my set up, I was pretty lucky and had a nice shade tree on my site, I believe everyone planned on sleeping in this morning so I'm just sitting out enjoying the peace (and the occasional yellow fly errrr).

Jim, Michael and I were rereading your post, we think you mean Athens, Alabama instead of Athens, Georgia? Maybe your taking the long wayo_O.

On-board camera footage of first stage landing. Wow.

Okay, back to Gulf.

Got Randy and myself fed this morning then rode around looking at sites. Didn't see Flametamr stirring at his site though. He must be relaxing for his vacation :rolleyes1

Rode bikes around and checked out the trail updates.

The quality entertainment for the day so far is watching Randy get his satellite dish aimed and set up.

Here is my setup

We should be arriving in a couple of hours. Are we allowed to wash the front cap of the rig at the site? I like to get the bug guts off before the sun bakes them on.

Tried to do early check in but they must have been busy and did not call me back. Guess I will just wait in the line, at least my site is ready.

Dang. Joe is rockin' TWO DIS signs. Maybe I missed that fact on his trip report updates.

Gonna have to up my game... :worship:

PS - gonna roll the camper out today and prep it. Pix to come. Sunday is move DD into the dorm at Alabama, Monday is her orientation (Bama Bound) which a parent (me) has to attend, and Tuesday she starts classes and I head for Gulf.

PPS - rocking to the Greatest Hits of Huey Lewis and the News during lunch. Gonna see them in concert in less than a month. Main reason I passed on Buffet this time around.

Spent a few hours up at the pool. Joe, Randy, and myself enjoyed the kids splash area while the wives stood at a distance and pretended not to know us.

Hate I couldn't get a picture of Joe wearing his rubber ducky float, it was almost as cute as Randy's Little Mermaid arm floaties.

So now back to the campsites to anxiously await Teamubr's arrival. Word on the street is he's the best. So we've set him up a challenge.

Well folks, about two minutes after I posted Jim showed up. Man, he made us all look bad. He truly is a master. So, now it's Garneska's turn...

I'm glad to hear TeamUbr made it.

I popped up my Aliner and made a list of needs and loaded a few things.

My pop-up lives in my garage - here it is before I roll it out.

On the front left you might see my Tiki Torches. Got these half off in the late fall last season. (Two Tiki gods for the price of one). Since the Fort doesn't allow torches and open flames, Gulf is one of the few places I can bring these out. They are fueled and ready to go. I'm going to burn my hour long Back Ground Music loop from the Poly to play while they burn at sunset on my outdoor speakers and also the 20 minute loop I have from the Tiki Statues in front of the Jungle Cruise. To kinda set the mood, ya know?

Even when I set up in the driveway I pull out my level to make sure I am good front to back. Normally in a campsite I would also set it up across the front to check side to side but my driveway slants to drain the rain but you get the idea. When raising the roof things should be pretty level.

When I pop the roof, the first thing I see are my DampRid container (to keep things fresh and mildew/moisture free) and a bowl of shaved Irish Spring soap (for a pleasant interior smell).

Because I will load our two bikes on the BACK of the Aliner, I need to add some weight in front of the axle to offset. So I have loaded my two EZ Up awnings in their black cases in the dinette area. And loaded 2 fans. I replaced a bracket on the EZ up frame of one tent that broke when I was setting up for some DIS'sers to come tailgate with me to watch the Cheatin' Ole Miss Rebs against the Tide (Pat Dye famously said, "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'").

I also check the battery on my cordless driver for the scissor jacks and make sure I got enough bug powder to sprinkle around all the ground contacts.

Here is my setup in the driveway.

Also checking things inside, the Mickey pillow my Mom made for me on my birthday for my March trip is ready to go. (Love you Mom).

Last thing is to run down to the local gas station and air up the tires in the camper and tow vehicle. That way when we pull out on Tuesday morning for Gulf we can head south with no intended stops needed.

Now I just have to get through Sunday and Monday.

Bama Ed

We're just waiting on you now Ed, Garnecka made it in as well, we (Joe, Michael and I) stopped by and said hello.

Yep, the superstars Mallory and Yeti have arrived safe and sound. Oh, so did their owners :p

Ed, looking good man. Now we're all here and greatly anticipating the Master's arrival...
