I was just looking on the member website at the dining discounts. I was wondering how any members use them? We are skipping the DDP for this trip, but no need for TiW since we won't be there enough days to make it worth it. I think 20% off lunch at Chefs de France seems like a good deal! Also, did you ever try the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin? They are 20% off too! They have a character breakfast which is a lot cheaper than Chef Mickey's. I asked on the restaurant boards if it's any good. I hope so..I'd like to try it out!

I always forget about that discount. But, we do usually get the DP. Let us know how it turs out. I guess you have to show your DVC membership card...:goodvibes

We use whatever discount is possible, but if you were thinking about TiW, if your an AP holder, you get great discounts with that too. Of course, both not as good as TiW, but they may work for you.

Enjoy!

We are going next week (yeah!) and we are going to flash our DVC card AND our AP and just ask if there is a discount every time. Can't hurt, right?

I think we've used it once in the five years we've been members. Usually the TIW, annual pass, or Disney Visa discounts are the same or better. The times when it probably would have worked for us, we forgot to ask.

On our last trip 2 years ago they had Coral Reef listed on the website of DVC dining discounts but when we got there and asked for it they said it wasn't valid any more--I asked to talk to a manager and he was apologetic but just repeated that the discount was no longer valid, and had expired several months before.
Sure enough, it wasn't listed on the paper leaflet (Portable Perks?) I was really annoyed--we would have eaten at Coral Reef anyway but it was kind of embarrassing. I had to call MS about something else during that trip and complained about it and also shot off an annoyed email to them. I mean, how difficult is it to update that kind of info? Hopefully they're keeping the website updated these days.

After posting this thread I started looking at the tiw locations and maybe that is the way to go. Between this december and next June we will be in wdw for 13 days. If you bought the tiw card do you think it was worth the cost? Do you find yourself eating at more restaurants then you would have normally just because you have the card?

I don't do the DDP so I do use my card for discounts from time to time, doesn't hurt!

I've done that (plus TiW). Made me feel like Jack Bauer interrogating every cashier, by then its nearly impossible to remember all discounts ;)

We were between TIW cards in March, and used the lunch at France DVC discount. I very much enjoy lunch in France! We also have used the DVC discount at Fulton's many many times and intend to again in June!

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. It's been a few years, but we have used the card at the Dolphin, the ice cream store, the cafeteria and one of the sit down restaurants without problems.

We used it at Ragland Road earlier this month. It was the night before we got our TIW card.

We use our DVC discount at Fresh at the Dolphin. Love their breakfast buffet!

We used it at the Fountain at Dolphin... 20% :)

We don't get APs so no TIW; so I will take any savings I can get! We haven't yet been to WDW as DVC members but used it quite bit in DLR last year. I plan to use it whenever I can in June when we go to WDW. As far as the Dolphin and Swan go we have eaten in Shula's and Il Muliano, I would very much recommend both. You can often get discounts up to 80 percent off on resturant.com for the places in those hotels.

So whats better? DVC? TiW? AP?

Now I'm wondering the same thing. So do we spend the $75 to get 20% off meals and drinks at most everywhere? Or not spend the $75 and get a bunch of 10%, 15%, 20% offs at certain places for mostly lunch with our DVC and AP?

Wendy- if there are 6 of you for 13 days, TIW may b a really great idea. It's 20% on A LOT of restaurants & lounges. Check the list on the link for passholders. That saving the tip alone.

If Chef's de France still has their lunch special, that's only $20.00 or so, then with the discount...what a way to go :thumbsup2

What i remember for one of their specials:

Grilled Cheese
French Onion Soup
Baguette
Dessert

We just always flash all of our cards and say: Which one's best?
