Who Turned on the Heat?! Our sweaty 2 weeks in May! Final Thoughts.

I remember those days of blowouts. That's how we got banned from the IHOP in Beaumont, TX. :sad2: Fun times. Of course the fact that you ate at IHOP later made me :lmao: .

Oh my they actually ban you for that. We better be careful! You're down to 30 days :cool1:

I have a little time now so I'll get on to the main event. Monday May 4th, Magic Kingdom day. My goal was to leave the condo at 8am to give us enough time for monorail/boat ride over. I was still a bit oblivious to the horrific heat. That wouldn't last much longer. I think I was up at about 6:30am. It was still kind of dark. I was surprised since it's always light here at that time (gets light at 5:30am here now :sad2:) Anyway we were all up, showered/dressed, and had breakfast by about 7:30. Well I shouldn't say everyone. My dad was still blissfully asleep. I discovered early on that if I said I wanted to leave at X time he'd wait til 10 minutes before then and quick get dressed. I wasn't too bothered by this YET. It was our first Magic Kingdom day. Lets go :wizard:

We pulled into the parking lot at 8:07. Wow our condo was close! We parked in the Minnie section right behind the handicapped spots. SCORE! For those of you that have never parked in the MK parking lot this is what you walk under on the way to the TTC.

I wanted to take the boat but it wasn't running quite yet so we took:

Finally we see it

Madeline's face

She had a thing with sunglasses this trip. She constantly wanted to hold them, not wear them just hold them, sometimes 2 pairs at once. :confused3

We waited around for the opening ceremonies

Here they come!

I will NEVER EVER forget Madeline's face as she saw that train pull in, hearing the music, and then the characters coming off the train. My eyes welled up with tears. It was an amazing thing to see

Then she saw him THE main cheese (and Pluto)

I focused on her reaction

Eric and my dad gathered some of the streamers they threw. It was so funny. I had some stuck to the stroller for a good part of the day. We dashed, well more like walked at a turtles pace, toward the left side of the train station. Madeline was walking. She did this most of the trip. We mainly used the stroller to haul all our stuff around. By now we're toward the middle of the pack I'd guess. I started thinking our plans to hit Dumbo right away were gone. Tried to let it go. :headache:

There was no way I was stopping for photopass in the middle of that crowd so we just kept walking. We actually didn't get any photo pass pictures this day at all.:sad2:

We stopped to wave at a cast member

We headed toward Dumbo. What would the line be like?

Next up day3.2 a potty break already?

Ohhh ! I love Madeline's face.... I didn't even know they put on a show like that...
the sunglasses thing must be a two yr old thing all three babies here do that with two pair:lmao:

Yep they do an opening show at all the parks. MK is by far the best though. Epcot just had the characters come stand out by the rope, HS had a little show with some of the actors (no characters), and we missed AK's show because we were already in the park. :)

By accident Jenny and I got to see the opening ceremonies too on our last day. We were in line for our 9:20 BBB app. It was super cool to watch, but hardly anyone was there that day.

Yep, IT happens :rotfl: Hey, at least you haven't been peed on ... oh... 18 times between two boys - I'm assuming you haven't?! :lmao: Feel better now? :rotfl:

Great update! Your pictures of Madeline walking into the MK and watching the opening are absolutely precious! Thank you for sharing those

really? I'm slightly surprised about the little number of people.

Stay tuned you'll find out the answer to being peed on on our first Epcot day.:rolleyes1

Love the reaction pictures! So sweet! Those kind of memories totally make spending all those Disney dollars worth it.

Big News! We just booked a trip for our 5 year anniversary in October! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I'll start a new PTR when this TR is done. I just couldn't wait to tell everyone! Details later!

Yes THIS October! :) We've been talking about it since about the middle of our trip. We decided we wanted to go "just the 3 of us".

We left off with us walking up (or is it down?) Main Street. We were on a mission to make it do Dumbo. They had the castle entrance blocked off so we took a right and walked around. We saw the stepmother and stepsisters but just kept on going. Took a quick glance at the wishing well (first time I ever saw it I think) and soon we arrived in fantasy land. We all got in line minus my mom. She wasn't going to ride so I sent her to get fast passes for Peter Pan. Just as we hopped in line they changed the wait time to 20 minutes. UGH. This was about when I realized how stinking hot it was. I then started trying to convince Madeline that she really didn't want to ride Dumbo. We had another day at MK so I thought we could just do it then. She wasn't budging UNTIL "mommy I have to poop". This was my chance. We hopped out of line and hit the bathrooms that are conveniently located right behind Dumbo.

So now that we took care of business what did we do? The ride I SWORE I would NOT have as Madeline's first ride or course.
DSC_1369.jpg

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I was afraid if we went on that ride first she would be too scared to go on anything else. Good news is I was wrong. Our little monkey would surprise us a lot on this trip. She loved the ride.

We then headed here.
DSC_1376.jpg

Cinderella's Carousel. She wanted to go on this right from the start. She has a thing for merry go rounds.

We played with the sword in the stone a little

Then it was off to It's a Small World. She immediately called this the "dolly ride" She loved it!

we're dutch so I always have to take a picture of the dutch dancers. :wizard:

and a windmill of course
DSC_1419.jpg

It appears they took out the Se Wha Da Krap (or however it was spelled) good bye sign in the refurb. lol

It still wasn't time for our Peter Pan fast passes (I think they were for 10:10) so we headed toward Mickey's Philharmagic. I was nervous about this show because in January we took Madeline to the aquarium and saw a 4D show. She HATED it. We had to leave. I had never seen this show so I was hoping she'd be ok. At first she took off the glasses but after a minute or 2 I was able to put them back on her and she ended up LOVING this show too.:lovestruc She's such a big girl!

Now it was finally time for
DSC_1422.jpg

She liked this ok but wasn't too sure where she was supposed to look. The ride was darker then I remembered it too. She was happy to see Captain Hook though. She apparently loves pirates. Who knew :confused3

By now it was time for another potty break. After the potty break we headed out of Fantasy Land. I was the fast pass runner and I ran for Thunder Mountain Railroad passes. Frontier land was NOT busy at all. I almost had the whole street to myself. It was so quiet. Soon I met the family back at the Haunted Mansion. Apparently they all had a snack while I was gone. It was now about 10:30am.

How will Madeline like the Haunted Mansion? Stay tuned for Day 3.3 unexpected reactions!

Glad to hear she enjoyed all the rides :thumbsup2
worried about Ashton...
he use to love the carousel and now only wants me to hold him standing next to the horse -lol:rotfl:. So, I am hoping we will not have problems with rides where he sits next to me or on my lap.

Wooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo for another trip for you in October!:yay::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

I'm glad Madeline enjoyed the rides so far - they really can surprise us sometimes, hey? :thumbsup2 My boys are loopy - they'll ride anything and everything (put it this way, last year ds#2 (about 6.25yo at the time) was so disappointed because he wasn't tall enough to ride ... the Incredible Hulk coaster! That thing is caaraazy :scared1:). I'll bet Madeline will be like that - a little daredevil! :rotfl:

The pictures of her are so darling, what a sweet little dolly! princess:

hopefully he'll be fine. Just don't start with Snow White. Maybe do Small World first, well after Dumbo of course ;)

oh judging from this trip I'd say Madeline will definitely want to do all the big coasters as soon as possible. She's so opposite of both Eric and I. Both of us hated coasters until we were adults!
