Hello all,
We are recent owners to SSR. We just came back from a 15 day stay
We originally rented points for OKW prior to purchasing resale at SSR. Once we purchased we added on nights to the beginning of the trip at SSR. Our stay at SSR was great. Loved it there. We had stayed two previous times at OKW, a few years back and really liked it, and had done AKV two years in a row, so decided to change it up.
OKW was a disaster. Really, not exaggerating. Room was filthy, smelled like mold. Bathroom, uuggghh. I took pictures it was THAT bad. Black stuff all around the toilet top, urine on the caps on the bottom, black gunk in the corner at the sink, bottom of bathroom door all chipped up entire width and just repainted over. Window over toilet was cracked with stuff in the corners and dust and old black hair on the sill. Made the mistake of taking a bath the next day, you could literally FEEL the scum around the whole tub. The tub looked clean, it obviously was not. That tub needed to be SCRUBBED. From the tub you could see streak marks, runny streak marks on the photo over the toilet, GOD only knows the last time that was wiped down. The fridge was rusted on the outside, with old crud caked on the rim of the front. I found a yellow capsule (someones medication) laying next to the fridge, only found it when I folded a paper bag and was going to put it on the side of the fridge. It was OLD, you could tell, it looked like it was going to burst, you could see all the tiny contents of the capsule coming to the surface. The carpet was torn the whole width of the room. Looks like where the seam was, but it was completely frayed from one side clear to the other side of the room. We rented two studios, my older son, his wife and two Grandchildren came as well. Their room was directly on top of ours. Their fridge had no freezer section, totally different shower head, that basically just dripped water out, no pressure at all. The patio door did not stay closed unless you physically locked it and neither door shut on its own. I always had the habit of pulling the door shut anyway to make sure it shut, but these doors did not even shut unless you completely pushed them closed. I was in building 17, room 1714. I called the front desk as soon as we arrived, was told couldn't switch to any other rooms, and to check back in a few days to see if one became available.
The front buildings were closed the day we arrived for reno so none of those rooms were open. The issues were never cleaned. On day 4 they left a basket with supplies, which should have been trash/linen day. Never came even though I called to have them do the room. No shampoo, soap etc in the basket, but they did leave about 50 trash bags. Why, I have NO idea and 1 thing of All laundry detergent, even though I was in a studio. I called again and asked for shampoo etc and was told if I wanted it I would have to pay. I advised on the 4th day at Saratoga all my supplies were replenished, at that point I received an attitude and 10 mins later a knock on my door and was given ONE shampoo and ONE conditioner, and they turned and walked away. Really, are you serious??!! No plates or supplies in the room at all, but they were at Saratoga. I know this is an older resort but Motel 6 I was NOT expecting. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I do expect a DVC Deluxe to be at least to the standards if no more than the regular Deluxe resorts. I called DVC member services by day 3, couldn't take it anymore, room still filthy. I cleaned the urine but NOT the black gunk around the toilet. Unfortunately, because I rented the points and they weren't my points, they told me really nothing they could do to get me out and to another resort. I would have to contact the person I rented from, have them call to make changes and depending on if they had enough points or not, see what, if any changes could be done. I rent from a person out of the country so I couldn't get in touch with them in time. I asked if I could just switch over with the points and use my own to make up the difference but was told that's not possible. And then was advised two of the days were not even available anywhere, most likely due to Food and Wine starting at the end of the week.
I'm just wondering who it is I can forward this info and pictures over to. Someone needs to know about this room and lack of service.
I'd post pictures, but I don't know how to add them.
Thanks
