Who thinks the dollar will continue to rise?

Checked today's high street rates and tesco coming out the best 1.5349. Will check again tomorrow and will possibly get half the spending money and pray that it continues to rise before end July!
Dunno why but I'm one of the ones who likes to exchange travel money on the high street - would order online from the ones who deliver next day by special delivery. Don't like the thought of ordering money months in advance in case the rate goes up!

The bank rate is just short of 1.60 at the minute, which is a welcome sight! It looks like it will continue on a rising trend, but it's impossible to know by how much. 1.60 is my becnhmark figure, just because that was the general rate when we first started visiting the US. I can still recall multiplying the cost of everything by six, and dividing by ten to convert into £

I went in 1995 for the first time and it must have been 1.50 then, because I remember multiplying everything by three then dividing by two and vice versa lol

When we first went back in 2001 the rate was 1.37, in 2002 it was 1.41 - we're now about on par with what the rate was in 2003 - 1.57. I'm happy if its above 1.5.

Apparently the average rate over the past 10+ years works out at $1.69. So, as a realist, I'm happy to be getting there... The $2/£ was a beneficial blip in our favour but we've paid for it since so fingers crossed we return to a more realistic and mutually beneficial rate...

fairfx seem to track .01 under the actual rate, and it looks like it could hit 1.62 soon so fairfx might get up to 1.61 today
