Who started in Studio-->added on for 1 Bedroom?

We bought only what we could afford which was 150 points which gave us a week at BWV. Can't remember how we did it but probably used the free 150 points that we got when we bought. Only stayed in a studio and figured that was all we would ever do. One of sons travels with us and we slept in the same room. Later bought another 150 points so we could stretch it to 2 weeks. One year my sister and her husband wanted to go with us so we borrowed points and stayed in a 2 bedroom at OKW. I never thought I would like it so much. Who would have ever thought I would do laundry on vacation. It turns out I do a load every day and love it that I come home with clean clothes. So we added on another 300 points which gives us a total of 600 points. Perfect number for us and I think we will always stay in a 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom. Just love the feel of having a living room and kitchen.

This will be us in a couple of years. A studio was plenty for just DH and I. Last trip was ok but the PnP was annoying. By the time we have DC #2 I definitely want to be in 1 bedrooms.

I think that's kind of like trying to "justify" DVC in the first place. At some point, you are making a luxury purchase and it's not so much about justification as it is about priorities and satisfaction.

Some people make a luxury car their priority. Some people make other luxury items their priority. We made DVC a priority to not only enable us to visit WDW regularly, but to do so in a vacation accommodation setting that is geared towards us having the best vacations and memories possible. For us, that meant villas larger than a studio.

Maybe someday when the kids are gone we'll get into a point-stretching mode with studios. But for now, it's a luxury we truly enjoy. :)

COULDNT HAVE SAID IT BETTER WHAT THRU US OVER THE TOP WAS MY WIFE AND I LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS IS OUR BOAT, JET SKIS,SNOWMOBILES OR ANY OTHER LUXURY PURCHASE DVC JUST HAPPENS TO BE OUR PRIORITY

Confession time. I've never in a Studio. Talk about a 1-bedroom snob. It's the only way to go IMHO, unless you're only there for a few days.

I'm a one bedroom snob and have never been in a studio either.

We would stay in a one bedroom even if it was just a trip for myself and DH - probably because he would refuse to stay in anything else.

We actually did an add-on not to upgrade from a studio to a one bedroom, but so that we would never have to move on weekends again - something DH and I both hate to do.

We really do have enough points...really.

Except now I have discovered that I can take the girls to WDW without DH so that he can use his precious vacation time for other trips such as a cruise. He still wants to go with us...occasionally...maybe once every 2 years...BUT...NOT...AS...MUCH...AS ...I...SEEM...TO...WANT...TO...GO!!! Gasp! Lol!

The girls and I did a last minute trip to the BWV this past August and could only get a one bedroom preferred view. We stayed 7 nights and blew 252 points for just the 3 of us - had to borrow some 12/06 points since we went already in February 2006.

We had such a GREAT time that I wanted to go AGAIN and again on our APs. Boy, those things really DO burn a hole in your pocket! I am sure that DVC have sold a ton of add-ons directly as a result of the DVC AP discount!

So, I have February and August 2007 booked. But the only way I could do that without borrowing (much) points from 12/07 was to book studios instead! Boy, are my girls going to be shocked! They are so spoiled that they think all hotel rooms have a separate bedroom. :sad2:

So, this one bedroom snob is going to try the studio for...get this...8 continuous nights!! I hope I don't regret it. Worse case scenerio, the August trip could be cancelled or I can upgrade to a one bedroom by borrowing points, if absolutely necessary, if I wind up tearing out my hair after this coming Presidents Week.

The kids and I did have lots of room this past August. We didn't use the kitchen at all in comparision to previous trips because we used the DDP. And because I was by myself with the kids, they pretty much wore me out and I was in bed soon after they fell asleep and didn't get to spend much time in the LR by myself. The only time I opened the new sofa bed in the LR was "to check it out." Otherwise, the girls slept with me because they wanted to be in the same room.

So,... I'm thinking that the studio won't be too bad for us...I hope... BUT what I will miss the MOST will be the washer and dryer!!! Sniff, sniff,... who knew that doing laundry on vacation would be so enjoyable and necessary?!! :confused3

Looks like another add on is in your future!

Thanks for your post, helped me out a lot.

Those darn annual passes. Our renewal is burning a hole in our pocket and will be the "cause" of our second add on. :rotfl:

Well, Frankly... we didn't know any better about studios or 1 bedrooms when we purchased. We just purchased 200 points at BWV and we have stayed in inn rooms, studios, and 1 bdrms off and on. All things considered we are very happy with our meager amount of points and really try to move around to the different resorts when possible. Maybe we will buy some points at VAK or AKV, but we do what is best for us... The situation spells out what type of stay you want at any given time. For us... we like to mix things up.

You HUSH now!!!! First thing DH asked when I told him the exciting news about AKV was "does that mean we are getting an add-on?!!"

More points = more trips = the need for again more points. It's a vicious, never ending cycle. Catch 22. Chicken or the Egg.

"Nope. No more add-ons," I answered him. We really DO have more than enough points. DH ran out of vacation days! :rotfl2: Which is why I started taking the girls on my own to get my, umm I mean, their Disney fix. :rolleyes1

Our points for next year (12/06) was a little "low" since we rented out some points (47pts) to subsidize a 10th anniversary trip this year, booked a room for a relative (36pts), and took 2 big trips this year and so did some borrowing. So in order to fit in another 2 trips next year without having to borrow much (just 17pts), we are trying the studios.

Once we get our full allotment of points (minus 17) in 12/07, we will have plenty again. Especially, since DH thinks we should give WDW "a break" once our APs expire and try other family vacations.

Looks... like... there... will be more trips in the future for just the girls and me! Lol! :rotfl: ;)

DH may "think" about a Christmas 2008 trip with us which will technically be in our 12/08 UY. Hmmm... THAT means if the girls and I get APs again, we can go earlier in 2008 without DH since we have to get tickets anyways in December and we have all those unused points in 12/07 UY... :rotfl2:

And the cycle continues....

Hi we are from the uk, so to make out trip worthwhile (jetlag and all that )we always stay for a min of 2 weeks @ a time.

There is just myself and DH, we bought 250 points back in 99 @ BWV. That was enough for a 2 week stay in a studio.

We are fine with a studio although i just wish they had proper plates, knives & Forks.

we always split our stay into 2 or sometimes 3 resorts.

We added on 120 last year, it wasn't our intention to use it for a 1br, we got the add on as we thought we could use 1 week worldpassport stay. However this summer we spent 2 nights in a studio, 7night cruise and 5 nights in a 1br.

I do love the 1br, but I am busy planning our 2008 trip ( we are doing the med cruise 2007)
If I did 2 weeks in a studio I could also have another week away in Spain that year. However I trying to fit in at least 2 nights in a 1 bedroom, so that I can use the laundry facilities.

Im off to crunch the numbers again :goodvibes

I stayed in a studio one night but left when I couldn't find the washing machine or the jacuzzi?!?
