The rumored new pricing made me think RIV might be poised for very attractive offer. Good point that it could changing minds. Can you add that option? Would be interesting to see how many.
Hmm good point, it may not make sense in this poll. Maybe we can start a new one on 9/12 when we get all the facts!

RIV was down as low as $167 with MB...so, close enough that VGF at $161 for current owners who don't like restrictions was a nice deal.

If they really want to boost RIV sales, my guess is we will see it get closer to what VGF was just at! 6 days!!

For you, I hope it does! The only plus for me is that I really don't need more points but want to join the 1000 point club SO bad which means only 100 to go...chances are there will be no incentives which will help me!
You can't just add on 100.. you at least have to go for the 150.. ideally 300 to get you to 1200 and then you're only 300 away from 1500! :P If they're not amazing in the next set I'm okay with holding off, I'm looking to lock in between te winter/spring incentives as I don't need the points immediately and am okay with/without MB. I think this next set of RIV will be our last though and then our attention will shift to poly.

I am new here just put my down payment down and reconsidering canceling in my cool down period but what are incentives that makes it so hard to say no?
The deal you have may be the last good deal on a resort that is not resale restricted. Those include the welcome home credit, developer credit, “free points” credit, your cruise discount and the magical beginnings credit if you opted for that.

VGF price per point increases to 230 on 9/12 and now that the resort is nearly sold out, they will likely make the next set of incentives not nearly as good as the current ones to slow down sales.

However, as I told you on your other thread, if you don’t think you’re going to go frequently for the foreseeable future and are getting tired of Disney it still doesn’t make sense to buy. If YOU want to go for years and years then its worth it. If you’re buying this for your kids as they grow up and are unsure if you’ll still want to go if they’re not interested in going then I would rent points or pay cash for stays.

Its the price of the pts minus all incentives.

I know you have another thread on this, but what did u end up buying and at what price? DId you do magical Beginnings (selling back current UY pts) ?

Your pricing, on a cruise, might be better than most here.

Thank you for the information - we haven’t made a decision yet - I am in, my kid is in but my wife is not- yes I got magical beginnings incentive but when I factor in all that I get the feeling that people here are getting better incentives but not sure if there is a better deal for current owners vs the cruise deal….

The price per point difference between new and current owners is about 5 dollars per point which is likely offset by your cruise deal but otherwise should be the same.

Thank you- I appreciate the advice we haven’t made a decision- I grew up in Florida and we went every year and we are currently in the mode of going every year now as my daughter loves it- and I still do as well- my better half is extremely fiscally conservative and just sees the money going out the door as it doesn’t include tickets and transportation and…... I am just wondering in the incentives for current owners was better than what was presented to me and if they were then maybe I could help the math work in favor of my daughter and I in convincing the the reluctant third party

The cruise deal doesn’t quite cover the 5 per point diff

The question you need to ask yourself is will you be going on Disney vacations anyways? If you’re spending the money on moderate resorts or higher regularly anyways then you might as well. Also, regardless of the 5 dollar per point difference, that’s at most what 1000 dollars if you bought 200 points, 750 if you bought 150 over the course of 40 years? Is that really the difference between you not purchasing and purchasing?

While I don’t like paying more than other people I wouldn’t let that hold me up.

For 150pts the extra $5pp is $750, minus the extra cruise credit you’d get. I’m not sure how many points you’re considering or what the cruise credit is. Range likely just a few hundred dollars. To put that in perspective even an extra $400 is really just $10 a year on a 40+ year contract. Could end up being less than a penny per point used over the life of the contract.

eta- even considering time value of money: Say you have a studio booked 20pts/night. It’d be like 15 cents more expensive (from the above scenario) so even TVM doesn’t bring the difference near an extra dollar per day using the contract.

What does everyone think about a VDH purchase? Same "urgency" as VGF?

I like everyone else, want to buy but really shouldn't lol

Because the lack of DL DVC options before VDH opening, I assumed they started with aggressive pricing. Get those people who want it no matter what the cost. From there they’d start offering better incentives when the initial surge of demand dips.

Thank you and no 1000 in the grand scheme of things is nothing over the term of the contract - I was just looking to see if they maybe something that would make it more worth while to convince the person on the fence-

Unfortunately thats one of the things they’re not flexible on is that difference in current vs new member pricing but if you got a referral to save you 500 dollars it probably tips in your favor.

That makes rational sense. VDH selling like hotcakes according to what I'm reading here on the boards. I'll way a bit, just need to buy it by UY next year to ensure I get the full use of the contract!
