Who pays?

When you and your DH/DW/SO go out to eat, who pays the bill? My SO sometimes gives me some money to pay, but he never stays around to pay, he rarely sees the check. He never knows how much our meals are.

I feel so masculine when it's time to pay.

When I had dinner with my husband, whoever had the money would pay. It didn't really matter, it came from the same place. However, I always was the one that left a tip, because he never gave enough money in my opinion.

Laurie, the money comes out of the same pot here, too, but it would be nice to watch someone else touch the bill every now and then.

Whichever of us can get to our card first. It's about 50/50. But, whenever DH pays, I still calculate the tip.

Rajah, I have to calculate the tip 100% of the time too. My SO will leave a couple of bills and hope for the best, and I just have to add whatever after he leaves (if he knew the total of the bill, he might try to calculate).

Holycow, my SO just nods my way and they hand it to me.

Shannon, I think I would tell him he needs the practice to pay at least once. Make sure he knows how to read the bill, just in case you may not be around.

If it is a place that the waiter/waitress takes the card then my dh usually does it but if it's somewhere that you need to go to the cashier then I usually hand my card to my dd and have her go pay. She's good a calculating a tip too.

I usually have the money for going out to eat...the majority of the time I give the money to DH before we even leave the house and have him pay. I am still a little old fashion about that
