I'm happy comforters are gone! Who knows how often they're cleaned!! If I'm cold it's easy enough to push the housekeeping button on the phone. I usually ask for more hangers anyway. But I rarely need extra blanket, as I don't like a cold room and keep thermostat at 70.

Yep, apparently most hotels don't wash comforters often, if at all. Yuck! I'm a person who likes lots of blankets, so I just call housekeeping and ask for a few extra blankets.

While I appreciate the "cleaner" look, I think a heavier blanket in between the sheets would be nice. The blankets seem too thin to me. I like to snuggle up in blankets, even in Florida :)

I am a germ freak, so they creep me out. I would take mine off and put it in the closet anyway. I would call and ask for and extra blanket and always had good luck getting them, and my kids sleep in the car on long trips so we always have extra blanket or two and an extra pillow, so we always manage. If I go in Nov or Dec, like I usually do, I always buy a throw in the parks so if I get cold I always have it. But I will be glad when all hotels do this, I hate the comforters, if they could or would be washed everytime I might not have cared but I don't think they are. I can't wash mine at home that often.

I miss that extra layer of warmth. My boys and DH like it cold, but I'm not a fan. I hate to be a bother and call for extra blankets, but it's either that or freeze lol.

My grandmother and mother worked as chambermaids (what a lovely old term to show how old I really am) in various hotels in Summer all throughout my childhood. I don't know about Disney's policy, but the comforters on the beds where they worked were not washed for every new arrival, only the other bed linens. So...although I voted 'meh' because it doesn't bother me either way...I like the new idea. I'm overheated when I sleep anyway, even in an air-conditioned room. My sister however, is always cold. Should be interesting this December.

I'm glad they got rid of the comforters. I could imagine that they weren't the cleanest thing in the world, as I don't think they cleaned them after one guest leaves, and another one checks into the room.

Not necessarily the designs, but the extra layer of warmth for sleeping.

Anyone else agree?

We like keeping our room cooler but turning the ac to a less cool temp tends to make things uncomfortable.

I particularly dislike the rigid sheets sandwiching a very thin blanket theme they got going on.

Oh my gosh, I am SO glad to hear that there are others out there that miss the old comforters. We also like a cold room, and a nice comforter to keep warm... Also, I always loved the fact that each resort had it's own comforters that were themed to that resort and area. The things they have now can be found in any hotel in the United States. Everything is so GENERIC... not Disney at all, unless you are staying in the values, which are fine for a day or 2, but if I'm spending any significant amount of time at Disney, I don't care to stay in a value resort. The sheets aren't very soft, and the pillows and mattresses have got to be the worst of any hotel in which I've stayed in any price catagory.:sad2: Disney needs to take a hint from the resorts at Universal. Those beds are SO comfortable, with 3 different options of pillows and nice thick comforters, you almost don't even care if you get out of the bed to go to a park...lol! Oh, and the mattresses are heavenly! I can forgive the lack of theming with amenities like that!:worship:

Each building at the GF used to have its own theme, with different fabrics and colors. Alice in Wonderland, Cameo, Wind in the Willows, Floral... We still miss those days

There have been previous threads about all of this. I spoke with Disney personally about this (Guest Services). Yes, they switched to the white-sheet-look for sanitary and hygenic reasons, which of course, everyone can be happy with. But there are many guests who are really missing the warmth of the comforter, and the pulled-together look of it as well. I am missing it, too. I will always prefer a cleaner room, of course. Our next trip, I am packing a blanket.

I feel this way about a lot of hotels lately. If you're only giving me a few sheets, at least keep a few extra blankets in the closet! Brrr.

I prefer when they do the big fluffy comforters with a clean white duvet.

Not sure about all of the resorts, but at the CR last week, there were extra blankets in the closet if needed.
