Who made Michelle's dress?

That pic on CNN does look like an old bedspread my grandmother had!! Yikes.

Honestly, Michelle is beautiful but she needs some guidance from a stylist. I would too if I were going to the First Lady. I hope someone volunteers to help her out. At that height, I bet designers would love to dress her!

I loved her suit today but this dress is just wrong for her. It makes her look boxy around her waist and really does nothing for her figure (and she has a great figure!) Oh well, I was really hoping for something stunning.

I'm not enthralled with her ball gown, either. I bet it will be stunning when it is up close at the Smithsonian, though. It doesn't look that good on her on TV.

I wasn't going to say anything until I realized I was not the only one that was thinking that about her dress!

That's what I thought also. The dress makes her look wider and bigger.
I liked her suit but this dress is so wrong for her.

I liked her yellow/green/gold dress from today but the evening gown is horrid! The design is fine but the material has to go. It does look like grandma's bedspread. Even my always too honest 4 yo said mommy that dress is chubby! I am also disappoined in her hair for the evening as well.

I like this one less than the other one, and I didn't like that one at all. I just don't think they flatter her.

I dont usually like what she is wearing....I did like the dress today....not the gown tonight. I dont think white is her color....another color for the gown would have been nicer.

And I agree it looks like a bedspread my Grandmother use to have on her bed. After a busy day like today I sure bet they cant wait to get out of there formal wear and into a nice comfy pair of Jammie's :thumbsup2

In 1861, Mary Todd Lincoln hoped her lavish clothing would squash Washington society's doubts about her social graces, but the massive off-the-shoulder, floral embroidered gown with three tiers of ruffles at the bodice, along with the flowers in her hair, made her appear as if she were trying too hard

First lady Nancy Reagan took a beating for "borrowing" designer fashions such as her James Galanos inaugural gown (price tag: an estimated $10,000). Reagan gets extra style points for wearing the one-shoulder lace and silk satin beaded sheath and becoming the only first lady in the past three decades to bare a shoulder at the inaugural ball.

It seems Michelle has better taste when she goes with the lower budget off the rack numbers she was wearing during the campaign. Now that she needs to dress up more, she's doing a not so great job at picking dresses.

If someone is helping her pick, she needs to get rid of them.

I don't care for the gown, and she seems unconfortable in it. Looks like it gets on the way of her dancing. She often has to stop because she's stepping on it or somehow the gown doesn't let her move freely.

Ok, most of those gowns were ugly, LOL. MO's resembles Reagan's white off the shoulder one. It was ugly also.

Carter's was really ugly--although it seems very Roselyn to me, it is still an ugly dress. I think I remember like Hilary's that is under that yellow cape thing.
I guess I thought that since Michelle was so young and beautiful that we'd see her in some stunning gown tonight. But that's OK, we'll have more of these threads in the coming days and years! I hope it gets better.
maybe it is a rule...First lady's have to wear ugly dresses. ;)

I thought it was a shade of green , that is what it looked like on my TV not gold. Or are your talking about another dress?

She wore green gloves.:confused3 She must have been freezing though. Didn't even put a coat on like he did for the parade.

It looked like a very light greenish color; however, when I watched the "reruns" on my local news, it was more yellow. Go figure.

In my opinion, both dressses were very nice (visually). The inauguration dress was beautiful and quite fashionable. The inauguratal ball dress was gorgeous but it seemed not to be as comfortable. She was constantly pulling on it and it seemed that she was not comfortable in it. To me, comfort is the most imoprtant thing in an outfit. If the person does not feel at home in it, then it is not appropriate to the person wearing it.

I liked her dresses yesterday. I didn't care for Jill Biden's boots and short coat.

I really liked MO dress for the day. I thought a nicer dress was needed for such a day like her husband taking the oath. I also loved the material, though it wouldn't be my thing. I understand that dress and the dress coat were both lined to stay warm.

As for the ball gown, I didn't like it. Again, just not my kind of gown. I was a bit disappointed that she didn't have more polished hair but I also know she was rushed around alot so it's understandable. I thought maybe she chose the dress because it was comfortable or lightweight. Those dresses can weigh a ton and itch like you wouldn't believe.

I thought Mrs. Biden could have been a bit dressier during the day but loved her ballgown lastnight. The red was stunning on her and very classy.

I thought both dresses were pretty bad and that Jill Biden's inauguration outfit looked ridiculous. Honestly, with the short red coat, the mid thigh skirt and knee high boots, she looked like one of the high priced hookers that are available at the swanky hotels near the WH. She probably could have earned some money towards the huge price tag of the festivities.

As for Michelle's inauguration outfit, I didn't think it was THAT bad - except for the fact that the material, color and pattern were identical to the old curtains we are using for drop cloths at the moment. Even the white lining of the jacket matched the curtains!

Her ball gown was just ugly. Who decided to glue cotton balls all over it?

It looked like a very light greenish color; however, when I watched the "reruns" on my local news, it was more yellow. Go figure.

Thank goodness some one else that it was greenish. I thought I was colour blind for a minute.:lmao: I was watching it in HD too !

I saw a picture of it and then I thought maybe it is gold but watched the news clips again and it is green again. :confused3
