Who Knew Refillable Mugs Could Cause So Much Drama? MARCH 2008

what am i going to do when this report is over, its like my little afternoon break time read!!!!!!

Well shortly after this TR is over you will be on your way to DW so all will be well!:)

I've been away for the weekend (It's a Holiday weekend up here in Canada) and had a lot to catch up on. You've been very busy.

Never been to the waterparks. Maybe one day. I know I would like the lazy river. It's all the other rides I'm not sure about.

I'm not surprised your trip diary mentioned your legs were tired at DD. It had been a long day for you all.

I've stayed at ASMu before. The walk to your section is very long.

The lazy river is wonderful, I could stay in there all day I think, just floating aimlessly, it's very relaxing. Even at our waterpark at home, on the rare times that we go, I spend a lot of time circling round the lazy river.

Day 5 Pt. 2

We moved to the Imagination of the park instead. The Figment ride was pretty cute. Not as good as the original with the Dreamfinder but better than that crap it was back in 2001. Really what were they thinking getting rid of Figment? The Kodak Image Works place was just okay. I remember it being better...or maybe I am just getting older? All we really did there was get our photo digitally manipulated to look like we were flying through the Magic Kingdom. I thought the result was really cool.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience was just...meh. Pretty entertaining, but time for a new show already. Actually under normal circumstances I would probably say the show was more than just...meh. Cute maybe. But watching all that 3D ness made my stomach churn. Once again, I was still feeling motion sickness just by WATCHING A MOVIE! This was around noon, nearly 3 hours after I had ridden Mission: SPACE and I was still feeling the symptoms of motion sickness. Ugh!

This is the picture.

How to prevent head lice while taking silly hat pictures.

SA700294.jpg

I reaaaaly liked that hat and almost bought it but then I remembered that the only time I wear hats is when I go on vacation or running which is not that often so I didn't buy it.

We headed back over to The Land afterwards to do Soarin. I am sad that it replaced Food Rocks because I adored that show and like to watch clips of it on Youtube from time to time. I understand why they got rid of it though and Soarin is an excellent replacement. I love that ride. Sometimes at home when I am feeling really nostalgic, I play the Soarin music on my iTunes, close my eyes, and try to imagine myself there on the ride. The wait time was 100 minutes but we decided to stand in line anyway. I spent much of the time in line playing Tetris on my cell phone while Kris attempted to sit sitting on the floor.

SA700307.jpg

Queasy face! On a side note, I really like that shade of green on the land side. What is that...like a jungle green or something?

9.jpg

VIDEO SCREENCAP: Some squirrel that I saw on the way to the Land. We don't have squirrels at home so I always find them so interesting to watch.

Eventually we got to a point in line where we were standing in front of a wall that turned into a big video game screen. There were sensors above us or something and everyone standing in front of the wall had to use their bodies to toss a virtual snow ball into the other wall's goal or something like that. I thought that was so cool! Alas, the game was very short and soon we ended up standing around some more.

VIDEO SCREENCAP: That game on the wall.

Finally after a zillion days, we made it to the front of the line and got on the second row of the ride. Unfortunately I was STILL feeling sick from Mission: SPACE! Ugh! I don't know if I will ever ride Mission: SPACE again. Maybe next time if anything I will save it for the end of the day so that if I am feeling queasy, it would be okay because we would be going back to the hotel so I could rest. Ugh!

After Soarin, we ate lunch at the food court. I had a chicken salad. We then rode the Living With the Land boat ride. I really enjoy that ride but I enjoyed it even more that day because it didn't cause me to feel queasy! Haha. Seeing those Mickey shaped pumpkins was really cool. The lettuce was beautiful too, they were such a gorgeous shade of green! I tried to point it out to Kris and mom but when I turned to get their attention, they were sleeping. Ugh! Sleeping at Disney is NOT ALLOWED!

I could have sworn that Living With the Land used to have real live guides actually in the boat with you but all we got was a pre-recorded voice giving us information. Is this memory correct? maybe I am confusing this with my memory of the Back Lot Tour at Universal Studios?

After that, we headed back over to Future World. Mom wanted to go to Club Cool. She browsed around the shop for a bit while Kris and I tried the different sodas. Well actually that's a lie. Kris tried the different sodas. I stood on the sidelines and had a good laugh capturing her reactions on video tape. I'm just evil like that. Aside from the China flavor, Kris really didn't care for any of the other sodas. Beverly from Italy was just the worst. Or so I've been told. I never actually tasted it. We remembered from our last trip that one of those flavors was really nasty but we couldn't remember which. Now we knew! Mom came over to try some sodas and Kris and I decided to have a good laugh at mom's expense. We told her that Beverly was really awesome and she drank it. Haha!

SA700311.jpg

Yummy yummy yummy yummy

Our last ride of the day was Spaceship Earth. This was always one of my favorite rides. I love reading about history and that is pretty much what this ride is all about! I also really love reading about the future and loved the old Horizons ride for the same reason but alas, it no longer exists. The video at the end of the ride where they put your face on cartoon bodies was a nice surprise. My face didn't appear though, just mom and Kris's. I wonder why? I'm pretty sure I was looking right into the camera when they took the picture at the beginning of the ride. Oh well.

After the ride, we went back to the hotel and ate dinner. I had soup and breadsticks again but this time I had chicken noodle.

Some Ariel doll that Kris almost bought because it was cheaper than an actual t-shirt.

SA700316.jpg

I really like the texture of Spaceship Earth.

That's an awful long wait for soarin.

I think I remember guides in the boats as well. Maybe we are both off our knockers.

You're right. There is not sleeping at Disney. I hope you poked them hard to get them up.

that was a crazy long wait for Soarin'. You should have ran for fastpasses there instead! My kids enjoyed Ellen but I found it to be excessively loud (I think that means I'm getting old:sad2:)

Great updates:thumbsup2

The wait was veeeery long. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was continuously moving but Soarin is one of those mass load, then stop kind of rides. It wasn't the longest wait time I've endured though. In Disneyland during Christmas 2005, I waited a little over 2 hours to get on Space Mountain. Crazy!

I love the trip report. you girls are really enjoying yourselves. I finally got caught up. We were in Disney 4/08. I wish I went with people I liked and could have fun with like you did..LOL. my MIL and FIL invited themselves :(

Thanks, we enjoyed ourselves a lot. I actually went and read your old TR even though it's closed for commenting. I'm sorry they closed it, you were off to a great start!

Day 6 Pt. 1

Today we headed back to Epcot. My stomach was feeling much better so I wanted to re-ride Soarin. the hub area of the park opened earlier than everything else and a countdown to for the park to officially open ensued. As soon as the countdown hit zero, everyone just ran! I thought it was hilarious for some reason. As soon as we got into the Land Pavilion, everyone just ran down the stairs or escalator, one of those I can't remember which, possibly both? Anyway everyone ran down and just completely ignored the cast members who were waving and playing music for us. Who needs music and happy people when there are rides to be ridden? We were all going to the same place.

SA700318.jpg

I told Kris to go grab some Soarin Fast Passes and meet back with me and mom while we stood in line so that we could ride it twice. In retrospect it was probably wrong of me to do that, mom and I should have waited with Kristina but...eh. It is what it is, can't change the past. Anyway Kristina never made it back to us in line. Mom spent a lot of the time in line complaining that Kris should have just come in line with us and never mind the Fast Pass and blah blah blah. I tuned her out after a bit. I didn't see what the big deal was, we were going to get to ride Soarin twice! Anyway mom kept complaining right up until we got to the pre-ride video. We got lucky and were placed in the last two spots left in the front row! I was all like "see mom? If we had waited for Kris we wouldn't be able to get those two seats in the front row!" She didn't say anything but had that look on her face that said I'm still angry with you but you are kind of right. Anyway the ride itself was just awesome to the max.

After riding, we found Kris alive and well, sitting on a bench. We re-rode Living With the Land and then went back to Soarin with the Fast Passes. We didn't get the front row that time but that's okay.

SA700320.jpg

On the boat.

SA700321.jpg

This lettuce was the most beautiful shade of green, I had never seen such beautiful lettuce!

We headed on over to The Living Seas next. The Nemo ride was very cute, I really enjoyed it. We hung around the aquarium for a bit, the Manatees were very interesting to watch. We didn't stay all together here, I watched one thing while mom and Kris watched another...eventually I ran in to mom and she wanted to go to the World Showcase. We had no idea where Kristina was. We tried calling her but there is just no reception whatsoever in that building! Mom stayed in one place while I ran around looking for Kris. When I finally did find her upstairs, at least we didn't have to go through the trouble of finding mom.

Finally we headed to the World Showcase. On the way there, we found some character shaped shrubbery that I wanted to get a picture in front of. Mom told Kris and I to go stand over there but there were already other people taking a picture there and I was like "No I don't want random people in my picture!" I wasn't offended by the other people, I just, didn't want them invading my photo space. An older man standing near by must have heard me because he came up to us and said something like "That's right, we don't need people like them around here. They should go back to their own county." The people taking the picture were clearly not of the ethnic majority of most of the U.S. but I won't say what they were because I know this is a sensitive issue for some folks. We just didn't know what to say to man after that, we were shocked! It's a sad fact but racism is not dead. Still, you don't expect to hear that kind of talk in Disney.

SA700324.jpg

Here is where it all went down.

SA700323.jpg

This picture would have been a lot better if I got my clunky ol backpack out of the way.

SA700329.jpg

Hola. Como estas? Me llamo Kellie. En esa fotographia es mi hermana Kristina.

I KNEW taking Spanish was going to pay off some day!

Anyway where was I? Oh yes. We started off with Malestrom in Norway. I love that ride but it needs to be longer. When the ride was over, mom and i wanted to bypass that show thing but Kris insisted on staying for it. At least this time around we actually had the option of not staying for the show. I remember how it used to be, where they kept the doors on the other side of the room shut and basically they forced you to see the movie. WATCH OR ELSE!

SA700328.jpg

Norway

SA700327.jpg

SA700325.jpg

Some photos that I think were taken near Norway but could very well have been taken elsewhere.

We went over to China next. Mom and Kris got some food. I don't much care for Chinese food so I figured I would get something later. Kris complained that the food wasn't real Chinese food, but more like the kind of food you get at Asian mall fast food places or something. She had this whole issue about the orange chicken and she went on about how orange chicken isn't even Chinese. She is right but what did she expect? This was Disneyworld, not Imperial or Wah Kung (Two Chinese restaurants at home that our grandma takes us to all the time)! Maybe the 9 Dragons table service restaurant would have been more of what she was looking for but oh well. Despite the tragedy that was the orange chicken, she somehow managed to keep on living.

SA700335.jpg

Here we have mom who DIDN'T complain about the orange chicken.

SA700330.jpg

Here we have mom with her hands together, getting ready to bow, acting like the good little Asian girl that she is. Also, get a good look at the hat on her head because that is the last time you will ever see it!

Kris and mom went to go watch that Circle Vision China movie next while I went back to Norway to re-ride Malestrom. When the cast member asked me how many in your party and I said one, she kind of hesitated for a second and had that look on her face that said One? One? Is she for real? One? Single riders know what I am talking about.

Germany and Italy are kind of a blur. Not really anything to do there. I did take a picture with the Pickle Christmas Tree.

:offtopic: I have a friend named Alyssa who I have known since I was a baby. She has a book called I]Pickle Things that I used to read all the time when I hung over at her house as a kid. It is about things that you DON'T see pickles doing. I just found it so hilarious! I had it all memorized and everything and actually to this day, I still remember most of them. At one point, she got irritated with me reading the book all the time and she hid the book. It was a very dark time in my childhood. :sad2: I found some photos of the book on the internet.

PICKLE.jpg

Pickle Things. Anyone with kids out there, you MUST MUST MUST buy them this book!

PICKLE1.jpg

...pickle up...

pickle2.jpg

...or see a pickle leave a ring...

Anyway one of the lines I had memorized was "Pickle things you never see, like pickles on a Christmas tree." I took the picture in her honor, just to prove to her that yes, you DO see pickles on a Christmas tree! I also considered buying some white chocolate but then I thought to myself, do you really need the white chocolate? Really really? The answer was no.

SA700340.jpg

The pickle tree!

If you get back around Christmas time, I highly suggest the Yuletide Tour. It takes you around the parks and Epcot. The Epcot part tells you the traditions of the countries. Neat.

We have that book!!

Pickle on your feet? Of course not silly....

Thanks for sharing your trip with us!!

I hate pickles but the book looks cute.

Love the looks you're getting from your Mom. Very Classic.

Now I know that orange chicken isn't from China and that pickles do go on Christmas trees.

I would have caved and gotten that Milka white chocolate.

I have started your report but had to stop and reply after seeing the Hindu couple pic you took in the Kali River Rapids line! Where else did you see it? I had no idea that it was a theme, I saw it at the Yak and Yeti and just had to take a picture! lol! When we go in June I'll be looking everywhere for it! lol!

Thank you..I am actually hoping to re do it this weekend and then I can complete it :)

Thanks for the TR. I am enjoying it.

Yay!

That sounds interesting! My sis and I are hoping to go someday during the Holidays but probably not for another 6 years or so when mom retires. She is a teacher and while she does have a 2 week break in December, it falls within the busiest season of WDW. Ive been to Disneyland during their holiday season and it was just...CROWDED. There were actually lines to get OFF the ride and also to CROSS THE STREET.

We hope to go someday during late November, early December.

We have that book!!

Awesome, you have the book!

Of course not silly...they're to EAT!

Trust me, it was VERY hard not to buy it. I LOOOOOVE white chocolate. Whenever I am about to buy something I don't really need, I always ask myself, "why do you need this and how will it benefit you?" If I don't come up with an okay answer, I don't buy it.

Wow, another Hindu Couple sighting! Haha awesome! They really are everywhere! I also saw them in the queue for Expedition Everest. Yes, definetley look for them in June and if you rember to keep track of how many paintings of them you see, give me a shout out or PM me or something.

Day 6 Pt. 2

Next we headed on over to the America pavilion to watch The American Adventure. We all loooooved the show. Kris and my favorite scene was when the two brothers were bickering during a family photo because they were on opposite sides of the civil war. The snapshot was so eerie. The ending montage with the Golden Dreams song actually made me tear up...especially when I saw that they had updated it to commemorate the 9/11 attacks. Watching the movie just made me...really glad to be an American. Unfortunately mom (big surprise) fell asleep during that very scene! Ugh! How un-American of her.

SA700355.jpg

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land...

We didn't really do anything in Japan or Morocco. We looked in the shops but that was about it. France came next and we watched the Impressions De France movie. It was okay. Surprisingly, mom didn't fall asleep. She was all rested from sleeping through the American Adventure. Kris fell asleep though. After the movie, mom and Kris got some pastries from the Patisserie or something like that. Kris had some sort of strawberry puff pastry and mom had a napoleon.

SA700356.jpg

Ninja. FAIL!

SA700358.jpg

Those fez hats reminded me of Secret Squirrel's Morroco Mole. Who remembers that show?

SA700365.jpg

The strawberry thing

After the snack, we went back to Future World to re-ride Spaceship Earth. After the ride I just felt really tired and didn't feel like riding anything anymore. Mom wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom though to do some shopping on Main Street. We got on the Monorail and we were off. Shortly after we got off the monorail, mom realized that she was missing one of her packages. It contained a shirt that she had bought earlier in the day. She had left it hanging on the hook in the bathroom at Epcot! Initially she was just going to let it go but then she realized her hat was also in the bag. It wasn't just any hat, it was her favorite hat, a black hat that had the Disneyland 50th Anniversary logo on it! Even I was upset about it. I loved that hat! How could she loose it! It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a generic Disney hat but that one commemorated Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, it was no longer being made! We hopped right back on the monorail and went all the way back to Epcot. We didn't care about the shirt, we just wanted the hat back! Sadly, the Lost and Found place hadn't found anything. We were bummed.

SA700251.jpg

That is that hat I am talking about. R.I.P. Disneyland hat.

After that we went back to the Magic Kingdom to resume shopping. Mom bought another hat and we also took some silly photos. We went back to the hotel after that and ate some dinner. I had the pizza kids meal and a bowl of veggie soup.

SA700375.jpg

Isn't this a silly song for everyone to sing!

Oh noez!

You always take the best pics:thumbsup2

So sad about your Mom's hat,:sad1: I hate losing stuff that can't be replaced.

Love your trip report so far! We took our trip in Sept 08 and our next trip most likely will not be til 2010 sometime. so I'm reading the TR's and living vicariously through everyone else!

You had the strawberry tart!! I posted it in my Dining Report...it caused a bit of a stir. I hope you enjoyed it!
