Who Knew Refillable Mugs Could Cause So Much Drama? MARCH 2008

Love your Dino pic, DD had the same reaction in our pic she was covering her ears & had the same exact expression, it was priceless.:rotfl: DS also had his mouth open & the most surprised look on his face, it was the only ride pic I just had to get.

I've never done Kali because I have this thing about getting water in my face...apparently Splash is okay though... So I've never noticed the Hindu couple...interesting!!

I alwaysspray our hotel rooms down with Lysol before anyone is allowed to touch anything - remote, light switches, alarm clock, door knobs, EVERYTHING I can think of and of course the whole bathroom! Since I've been doing it no one has gotten sick on vacation. (We learned the hard way.)

I can't believe you did all that traveling and then went to AK - especially since that park tires me out as I feel like I have to walk forever to get anywhere! Glad you enjoyed it. We're going to have to look for those pictures of the Hindu couple! :rotfl:

Good to know I am not the only germ freak. I actually read somewhere that one good tip for remote controls in hotel rooms is to put them in a zip-lock bag and use it like that. Very extreme but...I just may do that next time I travel! As for the Hindu Couple, you should totally make a game out of finding their picture! I'm sure there are more than just 6 pictures as we didn't even realize the image was repeating itself until we were somewhere in the middle of the line.

Actually in the line for Expedition Everest, there is one image of the Hindu couple that we found on a later day. I don't know how to describe where it was but I will have a photo of it when I get to that day in this TR.

I'm sure my and your daughter's reaction is a common one seen in photos of this ride. That roar is sooo loud!

Just reading your report! Wow, it was quite a haul to get there and then you went to the parks?!!! GO YOU!!! Can't wait to read more!

Day 3 Pt. 1

Today we did the Magic Kingdom. We originally intended to get to the park for the early opening but we overslept by 2 hours. Mom went back to sleep after she heard the alarm. I remember trying to be positive about it and justifying our oversleeping by saying at least we were well rested. Here is where my mug gave me trouble for the first time. On the way to food court to get some drinks, I realized I forgot my mug in the room. I went back to go get it while mom and Kris continued on. When I got to the room, I found that my key wasn't working! I ran to mom to get her key instead. By this time she was already at the food court so I had to run all the way back to our room at the Country section, only to find out that her key didn't work either! :scared1: After a mild panic, I saw the room number and realized I had been trying to get into the wrong room. Haha! Oops! Mom was really pissed. She was at the front desk, all ready to get me a new key and everything, only to find out that my key was in fine condition. That was the first time the refillable mug caused us drama. The second time coming up later was even worse!

When we got to the Magic Kingdom, Kris and mom strolled into Fantasyland while I went the other way to grab some Fast Passes for Space Mountain. I met back up with them and we decided to start off with Philharmagic. It was really good! Better than the Lion King puppet show that it replaced. We got stuck right near the very end of the row though, and I know some people say that all the seats are the same but nothing beats sitting right in the middle. Oh well.

SA700158.jpg

Kris LOVED this! I bet if this poster was being sold, she would buy it.

After Philharmagic, we shopped around for a bit and then rode Snow White and Small World.

SA700175.jpg

That's my mama!

SA700173.jpg

You are NOT the chosen one!

SA700170.jpg

Peter Pan is my absolute favorite Disney boy!

SA700178.jpg

As mom was getting ready to take this pic of us, a CM joked that we weren't allowed to take pictures of the Minnie statue. I told him "too bad!":)

SA700172.jpg

We were one of the first people in line to take pictures with the stepsisters. I told Drizella that I loved her dress because green was my favorite color. she said she liked green too because it was the color of money!

We decided to hit Haunted Mansion next. Madame Leota's grave freaked me out. Kristina said she thought she saw Leota's eyes moving but I didn't believe her until 30 seconds later when I saw it for myself! While in line, we found one of those red cards with the lanyard on it just lying around. You know, those ones you give the cast member so they can figure out the wait time of the lines. We didn't know it at the time though. Honestly we were thought it was some sort of prize card but alas we didn't get anything. It was okay though, just having the opportunity to be at Disney World was a prize enough! After that, mom went to go save parade seats while Kris and I went back to Tomorrowland to use our Fast Passes for Space Mountain.

SA700165.jpg

Kris attepmted to look scared in this pic but she failed.

SA700180.jpg

SA700181.jpg

It's mist!

SA700156.jpg

You are looking for the island of Kauai you say? Sorry dude but Hawaii is about a zillion miles that way...

After Space Mountain, Kris and I went to the front of the castle to find mom, She had actually got us a whole bench which was very nice. We didn't have to sit on the curb! I thought the Disney Dream Come True Parade was very good. The music was incredibly catchy. I was surprised that the Villains float actually had a person in an Ursula costume. Usually we only see her in robot form. She had a big head and a tiny body so she ended up looking really cute! After the parade, I asked my family what they thought of it. Kris said it was good but the parade in Disneyland was better and mom said it was good but what she really enjoyed was the fact that she got to sit down.:sad2:

SA700183.jpg

First castle shot of the trip

SA700184.jpg

I think I was attempting to look gangsta or something but I failed!

SA700466.jpg

Aww look at her fuzzy little hair and her cute little body and her big ol head! So CUTE!

Dream Along with Mickey was going to be on shortly so we remained where we were. No way were we giving up those seats! It was a very good show. I thought it was so cool that the characters faces actually moved, blinking, singing to the music, everything! I think they should find a way to implement this into the parades. During the part of the show where we were supposed to make a wish and Minnie said her thing about "did you wish you wanted to be a princess?" I made the comment "actually I wished that I would graduate college but being a princess works too." My family found it funny.:upsidedow

We ate lunch at the Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland. We took a long time finding it. We actually passed near it at one point but we didn't realize it until we found it and I was like "we just passed here!" I had the chicken nuggets kids meal with applesauce and grapes. I thought it was so nice that Disney was offering healthier choices compared to how it was the last time I was there. I actually also received fries by mistake but they let me keep it. We saved it for later.

SA700212.jpg

That plate was so cute!

SA700214.jpg

TADA!

:thumbsup2Great update, I really like your pics, especially the one with the Stepsisters. We're planning an ADR in Sept for 1900 Park Fare & I've heard that they are a hoot.

Don't feel bad about the room key mixup, the same thing happed to me on our first trip.

Hello! :goodvibes

Your TR looks great! :cheer2: You guys are funny! How nice that just the girls got to go! Your mom and your sister look like lots of fun!

I would have been so done running back and forth about the mug all the way to the country section! :headache: I know when I forgot my mug I was flustered and we were in Calypso! (by sheer luck)

I can't wait to read more!!

The Stepsisters are great. There are a lot of Youtube videos of them if you want a sneak peek.

Ugh, that run back to the country section was quite a work out! I actually considered leaving the mug but I really needed a caffeine boost.

More report please!

It's comming! As soon as I finish with my replies.

I get the kids meals all the time too!

Aren't they great? Actually, one of the main reasons I got them so often is because they were cheaper than everything else. I am very tight when it comes to my money.

great update! :thumbsup2 What great luck getting a bench for the parade and show!

Yes indeed. Thank goodness for my mom and her need to sit down!

Day 3 Pt. 2

After lunch we did Tomorrowland and started off with the Carousel of Progress. Before letting us in, the CM gave the spiel about what is not allowed...food, drinks and such. He also mentioned that the color pink is not allowed. Standing next to us was a couple of girls dressed in bright pink t-shirts!:rotfl: I don't think they got the joke though because the didn't laugh or anything. Not paying attention I suppose. Anyway I really enjoyed the show, I always have. It gives me some perspective as to what life during my grandma's childhood was like. The last scene really needs to be updated though...I think pretty much everything in that scene exists today.

After that we did Buzz Lightyear. I think Disneyland's version is a little better because it's hard to aim at your targets with the way the Florida version's gun is designed. We then did Tomorrowland Transit Authority or People Mover as I and other Disney freaks like to call it. I don't know why I like that ride so much but I did! I think we did the Indy Speedway after that but I'm not quite sure.:confused3

SA700222.jpg

Here we have some people being moved.

SA700219.jpg

Kristina on a good day.:lmao:

SA700220.jpg

Zurg

After some shopping on Main Street, for the first time ever, we rode one of those double decker buses that drive around Main Street. We were a little bummed that there wasn't room at the top but oh well. As we passed the flag, our driver explained how every day they find a veteran to raise the flag or something like that. Then my sister asked a question that to this day, we STILL bring up to embarrass her. NOTE: Must be read in true valley girl style:

"Like, what's a veteran?"

Yes ladies and gentlemen. My sister, the senior in high school (at the time) with a scholarship to private university, didn't know what a veteran was.:rolleyes2

The driver explained to her what a veteran was and she was just like, "ohhhh." The driver probably thought what is wrong with this girl? What is wrong with the public schools these days? In her defense, Kris told me that she thought by "veteran" he meant some sort of special Disney veteran, like a former cast member or something but still, to this day, we look back and laugh at how dumb and stupid he probably thought she was.
SA700224.jpg

Be ashamed Kristina! Be VERY ashamed!

We did Jungle Cruise next. I didn't much care for our skipper...she seemed to really rush through the jokes. The ride itself was great though. I always loved how the Florida version has the little cave area with the tiger. I think we did the Tiki Room after that. I know I'm against the majority but I honestly enjoy the Under New Management version better than the one at Disneyland.

After that we did the Hall of Presidents. I was actually kind of excited about this one. I hadn't seen it since my first trip in 1992. In 1997 we didn't see it due to time constraints and in 2001, it was closed because they were in the process of adding the George Bush animatronic. I wonder when they are going to add Obama? Anyway I didn't much care for it, I thought it was kind of boring but really who doesn't think that? NOTE: If you are one of the people who enjoy the Hall of Presidents, please disregard that last statement.

After a bit of shopping, Mom went to go find Spectromagic seats while Kris and I went to go ride the Haunted Mansion again. This was the second time that day that mom didn't mind just sitting while Kris and I went off somewhere. She and I joked that mom liked so much time to herself to do something secret. What that secret is, I am still not sure. Plotting world domination perhaps?:scared1:

Kris and I were the last ones out of the stretching room so when we got to the loading area, there was a large space between us and the wall behind us. We took the opportunity to dance! How often do you get the opportunity to dance in the Haunted Mansion? We pranced and did pirouettes and all that jazz. Actually it was Kristina that did the pirouettes. I can't do a pirouette to save my life. :guilty: Normally we wouldn't dance in public but it's not like we were going to see any of those people again right?

SA700231.jpg

I was attempting to look mystical or something. FAIL!

SA700232.jpg

Kris's second attempt at looking freaked out at the mansion. Better than the first one I think.

I have been reading for a couple of days now but I decided it chime in!

I did have to disregard that statement about the Hall of Presidents because I am one of those weirdos who enjoys it. I also enjoy CoP and the TTA/PM.

Anytime someone can sit there and compare DL rides to those at WDW, I love it. That how my first trip to WDW went when I was 15 in 2002. I went again to WDW in March of 2004 and 2005 but then also went to DL in December of 2005 and I did the same in comparing everything the other way.

I'm looking forward to reading more, keep it up!

My Dad's a veteran, he did the flag ceremony one year. Absolutely love it and totally recommend it to people if they are or know a veteran. Check in at City Hall (Guest Services) at the start of your stay and they'll let you know what days they have free. Happens at 5pm every day.

:cool1::banana:I love that you & Kris danced in HM, it's wonderful that at WDW you feel like a kid again. :idea:I might have to try it when we go in Sept.

My Dad was also a veteran. In fact, he was stationed in Hawaii during WWII when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He loved it there & always wanted to take us to visit someday, but unfortunately he passed away before we could go. I guess that's one of the main reasons I want to go to honor his memory(that & the awesome scenery).

Finally caught up. Had to deal with 2 days of crisies but I'm back and enjoying the report. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

really enjoying your report :thumbsup2

Thanks for chiming in! Yeah, it's really hard not to compare one park to the other.

Oh so you have to actually check in! I was under the impression that the Disney people wandered around the park asking random people if they were a veteran.:rotfl: Good to know!

Sorry about your dad. But yeah Hawaii is a pretty cool place to visit at least once. Although I'm sure thats true of anywhere really.

Finally caught up. Had to deal with 2 days of crisies but I'm back and enjoying the report. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

really enjoying your report :thumbsup2

Thanks guys! More to come right after I post this.

**Hey, sorry for the lack of photos in this segment but I was too into the parade to be bothered with picture taking. I think most of you know what Spectro looks like though so it's all G!**

DAY 3 Pt. 3

After riding, we found mom sitting on a wall in front of the Hall of Presidents and then she sent me to go buy food. She and Kris ate funnel cake and popcorn while I had a bowl of veggie chili with crackers. Mom wanted a picture of her with the funnel cake. While I was standing up to take the picture, some lady came over and took my spot! We were just like, "oh crap." We asked the lady to move over a bit. She gave us an evil look and moved over a smidge. The three of us kind of had to squish and needless to say, we never got up again. At least, not until the parade started.

SA700235.jpg

Didn't get around to taking the picture the first time due to the lady so here is the second attempt.

Spectromagic was awesome!:thumbsup2 Words can't describe how happy I was to see it again. The Disney Magic really kicked in at that moment I think. The last time I saw Spectro was in 1997. When we made our next trip in 2001, the Main Street Electrical Parade was still playing. Spectromagic returned the day AFTER we left for home! Ugh! The Electrical Parade is good and all but I don't know...Spectro is so much better. I like the music so much more.

I was surprised to see the Genie from Aladdin in the parade. The last time I saw Spectro I'm pretty sure it was Roger Rabbit in his place. Even on my copy of the Spectro parade music, it's Roger Rabbit who is heard, not the genie. I also really liked the new Spectro Men. I like their robotic look, as opposed to their old freaky alien children look. Aside from the park itself, I also really enjoyed watching my sister watch the parade. As I said before, the last time we were here, Spectro wasn't playing. 2001 was her first trip to Disney World so this was the first time seeing it. Even though she is a cool and collected teenager or whatever, her face still lit up with the wonder and happiness of a small child. Mom's face also did the same thing. Knowing mom was enjoying herself made me happy. Everytime Kris and I rode something that mom felt she was going to get sick on, I felt bad for her. Anyway yeah, watching my family's faces was almost as good as watching the parade itself! :thumbsup2 Towards the end of though, a family in the front row decided to stand up, which caused the people behind them to stand up, which caused us to sit on the railing of the wall we were sitting on, which caused the people on the wall behind us to stand on the wall they were sitting on and so on and so on.

After Spectromagic, we headed out to the castle to watch Wishes. It was good but I like Disneyland's version better. Their version of Wishes is based around park attractions while the Magic Kingdom version is based on movies.

While waiting for Wishes to start, for some reason, the part of the Small World song that plays when you are in that Swiss Alps area of the ride got stuck in my head. You know, the part when the melody is "it's a Small World..." and the harmony is like "yodel-dee-dee...yodel-dee-doo..."I convinced Kris to sing the harmony part while I sang the melody. It's not like we had anything better to do! Kris never sings in public. Actually, she never sings period. I was so surprised she agreed to do it! I wish and had captured her singing on video tape, just to know that she can. And that's exactly what I did when I got back to the hotel. I gave her an ultimatum. If she didn't re-sing the whole Small World thing on camera then I wasn't going to ride Tower of Terror with her! I hate drop rides. Kris likes them but didn't want to ride by herself so she complied. It took forever though. She kept laughing!

Below is the link to the Youtube video of my sister and I singing the Small World thing I just mentioned. Actually what you are viewing was the 2nd attempt at the video that we recorded a few days later but I'll talk more about that later.

And I leave you today with a picture Kris took on the way out of MK. I think it was a store window at the Emporium.
