Who knew choking each other would earn us fastpasses?

It is good to hear that you have your dates for next year. Isn't it nice to always have a trip in the works, something to look forward to? :goodvibes

I'm also glad to hear that your mother is considering going back with you next year. Disney works its magic on everyone, it seems! I hope you go somewhere that you will enjoy, meaning a resort. You have a couple of months to work it out if you're booking in August. I'm interested to see which one you pick!

Yay, for picking your dates for next year!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

However, I will refrain from suggesting where you might stay. ;)

As you know, I've been doing a lot of research on where we may stay next year.

I am taking down my flamingos while I wait for your next installment :).

Oh please don't go redecorating your yard all because of me. I really DO like flamingos. Just not really really huge ones like on Hwy. 192.

I noticed your ticker!!! I was disappointed it wasn't on your intro to this TR! Congrats on setting the dates!!

For some reason, I can't get the slider to show up on my ticker. I am going to have to fix that 'cause I love to see it sliding ever closer to the right.

Late but here. I'll catch up tomorrow.

Hey there! Good to see you on the boards again!

Great update Lisa!

I was upset when I heard they were discontinuing resort merchandise too. When we stayed there they had a clearance rack with just 4 XXX-Large CBR shirts and a couple mouse pads. That was it. :sad2:

I had actually been looking forward to getting a CBR shirt to commemorate our first stay. I don't know why they would do that other than to cut costs.

Thanks! I hate that Disney is phasing out the resort merchandise. I can understand them doing it though. Times are bad for everybody, including Disney.

A big :woohoo: for new dates!!

I know! I couldn't stand not having a ticker.

Sounds like a fun meet with Dana and Dallas. That is how I imagine meeting both of you...just like old friends running into one another after not seeing one another in a while! :goodvibes

:mickeyjum on selecting you dates! :mickeyjum

I really think you guys would like POFQ or POR; the quaintness is wonderful! and it really is not anything like NO; it is a wonderful beautiful southern experience. I really think when we do go back "whenever" that my be that we will be staying at POFQ; unless by some miracle I decide to splurge on a deluxe stay.

Have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

Connie, meeting Dana was great. We had a really nice chat and it was just like you said.....like friends who had not seen each other in a while and catching up.

We have looked at both of the Port Orleans resorts. Still not sure what we are going to do though.

A new trip? How exciting!

Sounds like you and Dana had a great time chatting! I just love how friendly DIS members are! Everyone I've had gotten to meet has been awesome!

I loved CBR's shop and counter service area. I had a reuben sandwich there too. It was pretty yummy. I love how their adult breakfast platter is called the bounty platter. pirate:

I'm pretty sure that's where we'll be staying next year. I loved the Poly but I did miss CBR.

I start planning the next trip while we are still IN Disney. That's pretty sad isn't it?

DIS members are the best. It's like having pen pals that talk every day.

John love the reuben sandwiches served at Disney. Oh and he likes the bounty platter too.

Congrats on having next years dates Lisa! That's always a good feeling. Makes the post-Disney blues a little easier to swallow. :thumbsup2

Meeting Dana and her family the first time was like meeting old friends for me too. :goodvibes

We know that we are going back every year but we just don't know when. I was glad that the School Board put out their 2010-2011 calendar out early so I could go ahead an pick dates.

It is alwasy nice to have a ticker going. Last year when we got back I added mine. We are trying to stay with September for our trips. But I think next year we are going to go back with May. My oldest starts school. But I do love the free dining.

Amen to that! I get all depressed if I don't have a ticker in my signature. I'd love to be able to take advantage of free dining but our school start mid-August so those dates are out for us.

I really like going the last week of May. Yes, it's hot but it's not as hot as when we went in August.

I'm subbing. I had a blast reading your last trip report.

Welcome aboard! I love having new readers. Hope to get a new installment up very soon.

How cool is it that you have a new trip already worked out??

I know! I couldn't stand not having a trip in the works. Now, I just have to wait until mid-August when they release the dates so I can book.

Okay I'm caught up on your TR.

1. I would actually love to take a cross country road trip to WDW. I'm jealous that you can drive.

2. CBR....haven't stayed there since 2000, but your pix and detailed description make me miss it. I'm a sucker for the tropical feel of the resort.....

3. DIS meets are the best!

1) We actually like road trips. We take them all the time. I get tickled at people who balk at 4 or 5 hour drives because that's just a drop in the bucket to us.

2) You should try the CBR again. It's all tropical and beachy.....things we don't have in North Louisiana.

3) I loved my Dis meet with Dana. I have another one coming up during our Epcot day.

:woohoo: On next year's dates. I haven't decided when we will be going back next year yet. I am kinda thinking cooler than May though, but who knows :confused3; maybe a cooler month AND May....:lmao:

I would love to go to Disney during cooler months but, with the way the school system is around here, we don't have a whole lot of choices when picking our dates.

Awesome first night at CBR. Dinner sounded great and how nice to have a Dis meet so soon! Your CBR photos are beautiful. Such a beautiful Resort!

I know the itchy feeling where you just want to get going. It's hard to slow that down, but you did a good job!

Having a Dis meet was a nice way to spend our first night in Disney.

I am all about dropping the bags and heading out to find something to do. It was so hard to "stop and smell the roses".

:wave2: Saw your TR and stopped in to say hi. We were at Disney May 27-31st when y'all were there. Love your pics of CBR, we've stayed there twice and love it.

Hey and welcome! Have you started a trip report? If so, let me know so I can come over for a read.

Yes you sure were!!!!

Thanks, I really hope not & I am hoping to convince him we need to go back before 2013!

You are probably in Disney now and I am one jealous girl!

I am really trying to absorb any tidbit of info about the CBR and your TR is the best spot I've found! :thumbsup2 My DH is worried about the breakfast options for our stay, and me, not so much. Then, I read in Cinderella Crazy's post a reference to a "Bounty Platter". Can someone please tell me what this is and how it fits in the DDP? and is it any good? :confused3 Thanks!

We really really love the CBR. Tell your hubby not to be worried about breakfast because there are lots of options at the CBR.

Hey! I'm trying to get a new update posted very soon. It's just been crazy around the office and at home too!

We had a discussion about Disney smells in your first TR. The distinct smell of the monorail I believe. I would love to stay at CBR one trip but would need a great deal to do it (never recieved a pin code either) We stayed at POR last year with Mom. Nice rooms but if you don't get in a prime location building be prepared to walk, the place is huge. I think it's the largest resort on WDW property.

I do remember us talking about the different Disney smells. I love 'em!

We are still trying to decide where to stay next year.

Yay for the new ticker! Can’t wait for the next update!

I love having a ticker! It makes the next trip seem more real.

Enjoying your TR so far. I haven't been on the disboards for very long, but I know that I do love details and lots of big pictures! I think I will go read your older TRs to keep myself occupied until another installment. :)

First off, welcome to the Disboards! Second, welcome to my trip report! I hope that you'll feel free to post your thoughts and opinions.

Ooh - the Bounty Platter. I've never actually stayed at CBR, but it was available both POR and GF when I stayed at those resorts. Someone else may have to correct me on the exact things that are in it, but there's eggs, bacon, sausage (I think), homefries (aka breakfast potatoes), toast, and maybe even more. I know Dixie plates are strong, but they're put to the test with the Bounty Platter. It'll definitely keep you full until lunch...and beyond. :thumbsup2

On DDP it's a counter service credit - and since it's breakfast it comes with 2 drinks I think...

The one at Port Orleans sounds like the ones at CBR. Even though we aren't breakfast kinda folks, the bounty platter was yummy!

Oh and you're right, the bounty platter does come with two drinks.

Well then I will be singing it's praises until you are convinced!! From what I found, and what I've read and seen on this site, I think you'd be happier in the Mansions section. I found the theming more subtle, particularly in the rooms. They're supposed to have a Gone with the Wind feel about them, and I would somewhat agree. The Alligator Bayou section is supposed to have a more Mark Twain "rafting down the Missisippi" feel. Actually, I heard that Sassagoula is supposedly a Native name for Mississippi, and the Port Orleans area is supposed to be like floating along the river, from New Orleans, to the grand mansions, finishing up in the Bayou. If this doesn't make sense, I plead my Canadianness...

What I really liked about POR is that it really felt relaxing in the middle of Disney. I felt more relaxed at POR than I did at GF, probably because the monorail is still going through the resort, and you can see the Magic Kingdom. At POR, likely similar to CBR, the resort feels like its own entity (if this makes any sense...).

Also - you can't beat the boat to DTD - I loved it, especially at night!! :lovestruc

Everything that you've mentioned are on our list of "pluses" for Port Orleans. I know that Disney has a resort for everyone's tastes but it is just sooooo hard deciding.

Well....usually we don't camp. It's hard to separate Max & a shower for even a day. BUT we tent camped both Friday & Saturday nights last week. We camped Friday night so we'd be there to get on the river Saturday morning, then we camped overnight on a gravel bar along the river, got up Sunday and finished up our float. The water had come up several feet over Friday night and everyone was extra cautious because of the terrible flooding at the Albert Pike campgrounds just the day before. However, we were not in danger and had the water not risen on the Buffalo we may have had to push our canoe through some parts. And yes, it was hot! But we had a good time. :goodvibes

I love love love to camp. We usually stay in state parks because they have the best shower facilities. It sounds like ya'll had a lot of fun on the Buffalo. It's such a beautiful river!

oooo boyyy i sure do miss CBR, Jamaica isss a great locationxD and i tend to do a little dance each time walking to Old Port Royale with the music playing, hehe:cool1:

Going into Old Port Royale does make you wanna dance does it?

We loved the CBR. Even staying in Trinidad south for the pirate room wasn't too bad of a walk to old port royale. Very relaxing resort can see why it is your home away from home! Looking forward to your first full day!!

If we decided to stick with the CBR, we may just try a pirate room for a change.

:yay: Yay for picking next year's dates!!! WL & AKL are great resorts if you decide to go with a deluxe. I love the boat ride to MK from WL.

If we were to go deluxe, then it'd probably be Animal Kingdom Lodge. It looks so unique.

Here I thought you were ignoring me because I wouldn't make a comment on what resort you should choose. ;)

I've not updated either...my computer is down at home and haven't had time at the office.

You know I'd not ignore you for not comment on a resort. That'd be plain old silly.

It's just been so busy at work and at home.

YAY for mama going back with you next year. :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

I know! I sure hope she decides to come along!

Well, I am caught up---I've had a nasty computer virus, which hopefully I've killed for now, so I've not been able to get online since Sunday.

I'm so glad you got to meet Dana that first night before the "official" meet on Friday. Isn't it funny how you can just talk with someone so easily when you've never met them before that moment? Gotta love the DIS! :thumbsup2

Uggghhh! I had a computer virus on my office computer several months ago and it was the pits!

I find it amazing that the Dis has brought all of us together and that we consider each other friends.

just signing on, read your other TRs and really enjoyed them. Great start.

Welcome! I hpoe that I can keep you as entertained as with my other reports.

That's great you mom may go back with you next year, you may still turn her into an addict like the rest of us!

Don't worry about the update for now, you are busy, we will all still be here waiting... :surfweb: I have a TR that I have been neglecting anyway so I really should finish that up, hope I will have time over the weekend to do it.

I know that Mama had a really good time. She's a detail, outdoorsy kind of lady and she loved the resort grounds. So, even when she wasn't in the park with us, she was enjoying herself at the resort.

Now that billing has gone out at the office and I'm almost finished transcribing the tapes (which puts Disney money in my pocket), I should be able to post an installment soon.

I agree! I was sooo disappointed as I was hoping to get a Disney Vero Beach t-shirt for each of us and they didn't have any of them! Bummer!!!

I also agree about how wonderful my online friends are! I feel like I've known them forever. I DO talk to them more than I talk to my IRL friends. They are terrific! Don't know what I'd do without them.

I can understand why Disney is cutting back and phasing out resort specific merchandise. It's just sad to see it actually happening.

I don't know what I'd do without the Dis either. I like knowing that I can obsess over anything Disney and not be judged here on the Disboards.

It is good to hear that you have your dates for next year. Isn't it nice to always have a trip in the works, something to look forward to? :goodvibes

If I didn't have trip planning in the works, I'd go nuts!

I really really think Mama will agree to go with us next year. She had such a good time.

Hey! If I don't hurry up and get an installment posted, you're gonna be tired of popcorn!

I hope to road trip it back East this summer, but we'll see. There's still so much of this great country I have yet to see. I agree with you a 4-5 hour trip is nothing. That's a long day trip for me.;)

I would love to go back to CBR, but I am looking forward to trying POR or POFQ at some point. I've done Pop, CBR, YC, BCV, BWV, VWL and AKV with "sort of" stays at BLT and SSR (Cousin stayed there and I babysat a few nights).

I love forward to hearing more.....

Yey that your mum is thinking of returning to WDW with you :)

She's obviously caught on to some of that magic that keeps pulling us all back!!!:thumbsup2

Somehow I had missed your trip report :confused3, but I am now caught up. I thoroughly enjoyed your other trip reports and am looking forward to this one as well.popcorn::

I'm relly enjoying your trip report! :goodvibes It's making me even more anxious to go back to WDW, lol.

We drive 4 hours just to go camping. Traveling to see my daughter takes about 9 hours. Another favorite road trip to Branson is about 8 hours. So, 15 hours to Disney doesn't bother us at all. Yes, we stop for frequent breaks but it's really not bad at all.

We keep saying we are going to change up resorts but then we hate to leave something we know we love.

Yey that your mum is thinking of returning to WDW with you :)

I couldn't believe it when she said she thought she'd go back. I am so excited!

Welcome! I am glad that you found me!

Joining in. Great TR. Just caught up and can't wait for more!
