Who knew choking each other would earn us fastpasses?

I am really trying to absorb any tidbit of info about the CBR and your TR is the best spot I've found! :thumbsup2 My DH is worried about the breakfast options for our stay, and me, not so much. Then, I read in Cinderella Crazy's post a reference to a "Bounty Platter". Can someone please tell me what this is and how it fits in the DDP? and is it any good? :confused3 Thanks!

We had a discussion about Disney smells in your first TR. The distinct smell of the monorail I believe. I would love to stay at CBR one trip but would need a great deal to do it (never recieved a pin code either) We stayed at POR last year with Mom. Nice rooms but if you don't get in a prime location building be prepared to walk, the place is huge. I think it's the largest resort on WDW property.

Enjoying your TR so far. I haven't been on the disboards for very long, but I know that I do love details and lots of big pictures! I think I will go read your older TRs to keep myself occupied until another installment. :)

Ooh - the Bounty Platter. I've never actually stayed at CBR, but it was available both POR and GF when I stayed at those resorts. Someone else may have to correct me on the exact things that are in it, but there's eggs, bacon, sausage (I think), homefries (aka breakfast potatoes), toast, and maybe even more. I know Dixie plates are strong, but they're put to the test with the Bounty Platter. It'll definitely keep you full until lunch...and beyond. :thumbsup2

On DDP it's a counter service credit - and since it's breakfast it comes with 2 drinks I think...

I'll definitely look at the portorleans.org site. I'm just afraid that the Louisiana theme will be "lost" on us Louisiana residents. However, we haven't ruled it out!

Well then I will be singing it's praises until you are convinced!! From what I found, and what I've read and seen on this site, I think you'd be happier in the Mansions section. I found the theming more subtle, particularly in the rooms. They're supposed to have a Gone with the Wind feel about them, and I would somewhat agree. The Alligator Bayou section is supposed to have a more Mark Twain "rafting down the Missisippi" feel. Actually, I heard that Sassagoula is supposedly a Native name for Mississippi, and the Port Orleans area is supposed to be like floating along the river, from New Orleans, to the grand mansions, finishing up in the Bayou. If this doesn't make sense, I plead my Canadianness...

What I really liked about POR is that it really felt relaxing in the middle of Disney. I felt more relaxed at POR than I did at GF, probably because the monorail is still going through the resort, and you can see the Magic Kingdom. At POR, likely similar to CBR, the resort feels like its own entity (if this makes any sense...).

Also - you can't beat the boat to DTD - I loved it, especially at night!! :lovestruc

Hey! Better late than never, I always say. We have been talking about coming up to Arkansas to do some camping. I just suggested to one of my Disfriends that they look into floating the Buffalo River since it's so pretty.

Do ya'll camp or rent cabins? We like to rough it and tent camp but with it being so hot, we are thinking of maybe a cabin when we come up that way.

Well....usually we don't camp. It's hard to separate Max & a shower for even a day. BUT we tent camped both Friday & Saturday nights last week. We camped Friday night so we'd be there to get on the river Saturday morning, then we camped overnight on a gravel bar along the river, got up Sunday and finished up our float. The water had come up several feet over Friday night and everyone was extra cautious because of the terrible flooding at the Albert Pike campgrounds just the day before. However, we were not in danger and had the water not risen on the Buffalo we may have had to push our canoe through some parts. And yes, it was hot! But we had a good time. :goodvibes

oooo boyyy i sure do miss CBR, Jamaica isss a great locationxD and i tend to do a little dance each time walking to Old Port Royale with the music playing, hehe:cool1:

We loved the CBR. Even staying in Trinidad south for the pirate room wasn't too bad of a walk to old port royale. Very relaxing resort can see why it is your home away from home! Looking forward to your first full day!!

:yay: Yay for picking next year's dates!!! WL & AKL are great resorts if you decide to go with a deluxe. I love the boat ride to MK from WL.

Okay everybody......this is my formal apology. I did get a lot of replies done but still have more to go. I still have to finish up the replies. For those of you who I haven't replied to, please know I am not ignoring ya'll. I still love you.;)

Office billing should be complete by the time I leave here at Noon. That's the most pressing thing at work right now.

I'm also doing some work on the side. If a client comes in with tape recorded phone calls or meetings, I get to transcribe them and get paid above and beyond my normal paycheck. Everybody I know (including myself) can use an extra $35.00 an hour.:thumbsup2 So, I've been working on the tapes instead of my trip report.

Hopefully, I have the billing done today and the tapes done soon. I feel really bad about not replying and writing another installment.

Oh I almost forgot. Mama thinks she may go back to Disney with us next year. I couldn't believe that she said that. When we came back from this trip, she said she really really enjoyed herself but that she thought she was done with Disney.

Last night, she came over and made a comment that she had told her cousin on the phone that she would consider going back so she could eat more of the good food and if she could spend time at the resort. We told her she was more than welcome to go back with us next year.

While she was at our house, she and I looked at a lot of the Port Orleans resorts pictures and the Coronado Springs pictures. I thought about looking at one of the deluxe resorts but, honestly, Mama doesn't have any extra money coming in that would help pay for her trip. The only income she has is my deceased dad's retirement and her Social Security check. I'm not saying she's broke because she has several CDs and other bank accounts. She just doesn't like taking too much money out of those accounts just in case she had to use it for emergencies.

Another factor is we like to have separate rooms. I mean, my men can't run around in their underwear, scratch their booty, etc. in front of your mother-in-law/grandmother. That would be embarrassing.

Anyway, right now, it looks as if we are looking at one of the moderates. We're leaning towards Coronado. Mama's leaning towards one of the Port Orleans resorts. Knowing us, we'll be right back at the Caribbean Beach.

Enough....I need to get back to work.

Here I thought you were ignoring me because I wouldn't make a comment on what resort you should choose. ;)

I've not updated either...my computer is down at home and haven't had time at the office.

YAY for mama going back with you next year. :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

Well, I am caught up---I've had a nasty computer virus, which hopefully I've killed for now, so I've not been able to get online since Sunday.

I'm so glad you got to meet Dana that first night before the "official" meet on Friday. Isn't it funny how you can just talk with someone so easily when you've never met them before that moment? Gotta love the DIS! :thumbsup2

just signing on, read your other TRs and really enjoyed them. Great start.

That's great you mom may go back with you next year, you may still turn her into an addict like the rest of us!

Don't worry about the update for now, you are busy, we will all still be here waiting... :surfweb: I have a TR that I have been neglecting anyway so I really should finish that up, hope I will have time over the weekend to do it.

After we had eaten, we decided to check out the store and see what they had that we couldn't resist. I was a bit put out when I didn't find any Caribbean Beach Resort themed merchandise. We always get a CBR t-shirt but I couldn't find them anywhere. I found a castmember who said they didn't have anything with the CBR logo on them. She said that she had heard they were phasing out all resort themed merchandise. Guess there'd be no CBR t-shirts this year.

I think it's just amazing that the Disboards have brought me and my Disfriends together. I love making new friends on the Disboards too. I talk about ya'll like I've known you forever. When I stop and think about it, I talk with ya'll more often than some of my local friends. Walt Disney is probably looking down from Heaven and smiling. :littleangel:

I agree! I was sooo disappointed as I was hoping to get a Disney Vero Beach t-shirt for each of us and they didn't have any of them! Bummer!!!

I also agree about how wonderful my online friends are! I feel like I've known them forever. I DO talk to them more than I talk to my IRL friends. They are terrific! Don't know what I'd do without them.
