Who knew choking each other would earn us fastpasses?

Ooohh looking foward to reading it :goodvibes

Do they ever have any kind of live entertainment/music/games going on at CBR that you know of? Just curious

TIA :thumbsup2

24 days to go :cool1:

Jen

Hey Jen, I don't remember ever seeing any kind of live entertainment or games going on at Old Port Royale. Well, yes I do, they had some outside games for the kids back when they were redoing the main pool. Other than that, I can't recall them doing anything like that. There is music playing outside of Old Port Royale though and it's nice and relaxing.

Hey Lisa! I'm finally here! I don't know what took me so long. I'll go with just getting back from Disney, then having 1 week to catch up on everything at work, and then a weekend spent on the Buffalo River leaves little time for DISing, even if I was able to start mine! :rotfl:

But hey, you're at Disney now, so I only missed the driving, which is usually the most uneventful part anyway! :goodvibes

And I'll agree with other posters on how much you favor your Mama. and on how much older Hunter looks this year.

I can't wait for the rest of your TR!

Hey! Better late than never, I always say. We have been talking about coming up to Arkansas to do some camping. I just suggested to one of my Disfriends that they look into floating the Buffalo River since it's so pretty.

Do ya'll camp or rent cabins? We like to rough it and tent camp but with it being so hot, we are thinking of maybe a cabin when we come up that way.

Hey!

I just found your TR, and I have just read it all the way through - love, love, love :)

I haven't really read many TRs before, and boy am I missing out! I feel like I'm on holiday (Ooops, I mean "vacation" ;)) with y'all!

Your TR is great! You have such a lovely family and it looks like you're having a blast so far! And getting to meet fellow DISers too?! Wow :thumbsup2

So I'm pretty much hooked now :lovestruc. See what you've done haha?! :rotfl:

Beth x

PS hi to everyone else on this report, I don't believe we've met...

Hi Beth! I'm glad that you decided my trip report was worth reading. We have a lot of fun together and I think it shows in our pictures. Thanks for the compliment on the family.

I hope that you continue to stick around and that you'll feel free to post. I love making new Dis friends.

Hi, Beth. Stick around...Lisa's trip reports are great. :)

Aww Kathy, that's sweet of you to say.

Great update Lisa. Sounds like a perfect, laid-back CBR night! :thumbsup2

How fun to meet a fellow DISer! I have yet to have a DISmeet, but I feel like you are all great friends!

It was a perfect way to end the day. I had chatted with Dana for a long time and felt like I knew her even prior to meeting her in person.

I agree with you, even though I haven't seen ya'll personally, I feel like we are all buddies. Isn't that the neatest thing?!?!

Thanks for the great report so far. I'm all caught up. We have never stayed at CBR but I think I'm going to request Jamaica 41. That looks like a great spot.

Since we were booked at WL and I wasn't super excited about spending that amount of money on a room 1150.00 more. And dh and I don't care for the values we love the moderates. So we figure we would stick with what works.

Hey there! Glad to see you made it over. I really liked our building. It was one of the furthest buildings in Jamaica but it was a great location. The walk to both Old Port Royale and the bus stop took no time at all.

I also booked the WL (a year or so ago) but, like you, wasn't excited about spending that extra money. It was going to cost us almost $1,000.00 to upgrade from CBR to WL. That's a big chunk of change.:scared1:

No CBR tee shirts! O no! I love those!

Me too! I couldn't believe it when she said they had nothing CBR themed.:sad1:

caesar ;)

And, before you ask, yes, I googled it. I truely believe Google to be one of man's greatest achievements. I didn't even have to click a link, I just typed in Caesar S, and poof, up popped "Caesar Salad Recipie" and I knew it was good.

Ok ok, I digress. (Go Google!). Not much else to comment on. It still sounds like you're having a great time and it's awesome that you got to meet up with Dana and crew (well, only one part of the crew so far, but I have a sneaking suspicion that that will change.)

I know I stayed at CBR one of our trips when I was younger. I can't, for the life of me, remember quite when it was. It was between 1988 (when it opened) and 1991 though (I know we were at BC in 1992). My biggest memory of that trip was spending several hours (and lots of quarters) at the arcade... That, and having to use the Disney Busses for the first time. (Previous stays were off site (some hotel right near Sea World as well as my Grandparent's house), Ft. Wilderness, and Poly (a couple times I think).

But I'm rambling.

I should have googled how to spell it too but I didn't. Too lazy I guess.:rolleyes1

You should give the CBR a try sometime. We are actually thinking about maybe booking a stay somewhere else just to try something new. But, who knows with us, we may be back at the CBR again.

Oh, I will :)

I sure hope so!

Hi Beth! Lisa's last TR was the 1st one I read & she had me addicted after that!:rotfl:

Awwww, I was your first? How cool is that?:woohoo:

How in the world did I not post before page 12 :scared1::eek:. I hope you will forgive me, please, please, please, please?:guilty::sad2::sad1:.

I have been reading since about 5 this evening catching up :surfweb:. You forgot to mention that Dale called and was annoying me while we were talking Thursday night...... :rolleyes1:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:. I don't remember having that mirror over my table in my room :confused3. I will have to look and see if I got any pictures of it. Anyway, I'm caught up and I am going to try and stay that way. You know I am loving your writing, you always keep it so interesting :goodvibes:thumbsup2.

Dana's in the house! I know that you've been busy and had other things on your mind since going home. It doesn't matter how long it took you to get here....only matters that you are here.

You know, I totally forgot about Dale calling you a couple of times during our visit. I remember me telling you to tell him I wasn't an axe murderer and you were okay.

Great start to your trip! I'm glad you got to have a dismeet. Caribbean Beach Resort was the first Disney resort I ever stayed in. I liked it so much my first 3 on property stays were there. I haven't been back in awhile, I'll have to try it again. I can't wait for more updates!

Terri

Terri, the Dis Meet was great. It was as if Dana and I had known each other forever. The CBR was our first onsite resort too. Actually, it's the only onsite resort we've stayed at since we used to not know any better and we stayed offsite.

Congrats on having next years dates Lisa! That's always a good feeling. Makes the post-Disney blues a little easier to swallow. :thumbsup2

Meeting Dana and her family the first time was like meeting old friends for me too. :goodvibes

It is alwasy nice to have a ticker going. Last year when we got back I added mine. We are trying to stay with September for our trips. But I think next year we are going to go back with May. My oldest starts school. But I do love the free dining.

Okay I'm caught up on your TR.

1. I would actually love to take a cross country road trip to WDW. I'm jealous that you can drive.

2. CBR....haven't stayed there since 2000, but your pix and detailed description make me miss it. I'm a sucker for the tropical feel of the resort.....

3. DIS meets are the best!

I know, my DD will be soooo disappointed!!! She gets a new CBR T shirt every trip, I guess she won't be getting one this year. :sad1:

We always bought a new CBR shirt and I couldn't beleive they didn't have one this year. The only thing they had with the CBR logo on it was a pin.

Great first installment!! I can't wait to hear more

I have been trying to get all caught up so I can post another installment.

I am loving your TR, lots of fun. Your tr is the 2nd one I have begun and it is hard waiting for the next installment!
I am going to CBR in Aug. Where did youget a table to see Epcot FW?

Thanks and welcome! I think you'll fall in love with the CBR. It's a great resort. There are lots of umbrella tables outside of Old Port Royale (on the main pool side). If you are walking outside from the food court/store, you'll need to sit at one of the tables to the far right. They overlook the lake and you can see the fireworks. Or, you could go straight and see if one of the picnic tables is available.

We have also watched the fireworks from the Martinique beach.

:woohoo: On next year's dates. I haven't decided when we will be going back next year yet. I am kinda thinking cooler than May though, but who knows :confused3; maybe a cooler month AND May....:lmao:

Great update!!:thumbsup2 It sounds like it was a perfect start to your vacation....so relaxed and fun!:goodvibes Of course....I'm still loving all your CBR pics!!;)

Oh and Yay for the DISmeet! How fun!

Can't wait for more...popcorn::

We had a great first day (well part of a day). Meeting Dana was definitely a highlight.

Great update, Lisa!!! As always, you make me feel like I'm in Disney. :goodvibes
Speaking of Ginny, I miss her a lot, too. I think about her quite often.

I'm doing my best at supplying details.

I so miss Ginny.

popcorn:: Joining in

Thanks for coming along for the ride! I hope you'll continue to post as I love to hear everybody's thoughts.

All caught up! So glad that you have arrived and had a DIS meet!

I am really looking forward to reading more. You have kept me so entertained. Love the TR! :cutie:

Hopefully, I can keep up the entertainment!

Great update. Your pictures have me wanting to visit CBR next visit. It seems so relaxing and soothing. Can't wait to hear about your Epcot day!

The resort really is quite relaxing. I wish it hadn't rained nearly every afternoon so we could have spent more down time at the resort.

It sounds like a perfect first night, I can just picture myself there. We went and checked out CBR last year after hearing so much about it from you! I can't wait to hear what happens at Epcot!

Did you like the looks of the CBR? We keep saying we may change resorts next year but, then I look at the pictures of the CBR and I wanna go back.

Every trip report I read of yours makes me want to try CBR really bad. Definitely next trip. I keep sneaking in "next trip" to my DH and we haven't even left for our 2010 one. :lmao:

He wants to do the beach. Can you believe the nerve of him wanting to go somewhere else.

Loving your TR. I enjoy every update.

The CBR is a lovely resort. I like the fact that we feel like we are in Disney but still away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.

Keep sneaking in the "Next trip" comments to your hubby so he'll get used to the idea.

Last Spring, I got some kind of nasty illness and must have been running a real high fever that caused me to think irrationally because I actually thought about going somewhere other than Disney. I took two Tylenol and was all better the next day.:lmao:

Your last trip report was the first I had ever read recently and I love the way you do them. I am very excited to hear about your adventures, but I must say, it's hard to wait for each installment since I found your last one at the end :lovestruc. Anyway, I am excited to hear all about the rest of your trip.

Thanks so much! I try to put in as many details as I can because I know I like reading details. Hopefully, everybody else does too. If not, they can skip 'em.

Hey, Lisa! This is really enjoyable! I had to laugh about the "smells" comment. In 2008 we stayed at the Beach Club and several of us on the resorts discussions made comments about the smell of the Beach Club. Lo and behold, one of the CMs that worked there also comments on the thread and filled us in on the secret. They have scent machines! From scentairhome.com you can order one for yourself. She was even kind enough to fill us in on the scent the Beach Club uses! I ordered one during one of their sales, and I love it! My house can smell like the Beach Club whenever I feel the need for a little fix.

Well, I certainly appreciate the compliment. I knew I wasn't crazy. Disney has a way of adding all sorts of good smells to draw us in.

I need to go to the scentairhome website!

Great updates Lisa. Glad you and Dana got to hang out some! I miss Ms Ginny too. I always enjoyed reading her replies. Any idea when your next trip will be??

Meeting Dana was just as fun as I pictured it would be. She's awesome.

Just posted that we are planning a trip for almost the exact same dates as this year. I really really wish there was some way to work in another trip for later this year. We've talked about September, Thanksgiving and December. I'd love to go during the Thanksgiving holidays, even if it is a busy time of the year.

Ahhhhh Jamaica, that's where we stayed! I loved the walk over to Old Port Royale!

Yay! for your DIS meet with Dana! :goodvibes

Jamaica is a lovely village and the location was great!

A lot of the higher end hotel chains do this - they have their signature scent. For the Westin hotel chain they call theirs "White Tea". I wonder if we can find out what the signature scent is for CBR :goodvibes

I don't know what scent they use. So, if ya'll don't already think I'm a weirdo, let me just drive the nail in the coffin. I used to buy WalMart's lavender scented laundry detergent simply for the fact that it smelled like the CBR. A few months ago, I made my own laundry detergent (which works great by the way) but I still use the lavender scented fabric softener.

The Beach Club's is Green Clover and Aloe.

Ummmm, that sounds like it would smell sooooo good!

Whoo hooo!!!!!! We are looking at 2013.....if my husband doesn't lose his job thanks to the freaking oil spill!

I'll pray that he doesn't lose his job. The oil spill is affecting so many people.

I love caesar salads in WDW. SOmething about them there makes them taste so much better. I don't get it!?!

I'm glad to hear you got to meet up with Dana.

Our dates for next summer are pretty close to yours. We'll be getting there 3 or 4 days later.

I love 'em too.

How long will ya'll be staying at WDW next year? Maybe we could do a Dis Meet.

I have stayed at both Port Orleans Resorts (and in both sections of Riverside) and the mansions in Riverside are really pretty. The Bayou is more rustic. I have some pics of POR and our room in my TR if you care to take a look. I think you would really like it. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. I really should add an update to mine but not sure if I will have time tonight.

I need to heard over there and check out your pictures. We are still undecided on what we want to do. Do we stick with what we know we like or do we try something new? Decisions!

popcorn:: Cant wait for more

I have been trying my best to get another installment posted. But, this is billing time of the month and, every time I think I can get started, something else comes up. Hopefully, soon!

Oh my goodness - I go out of town for a week and I'm 16 pages behind!!!

Lisa, you're looking great! I love the longer hair, it's just beautiful!

I was wondering how the Vera Bradley Hipster works for you in the parks...I have one, but chickened out bringing it with me instead opting for my MEC pod sling pack .

Also - for your trip next year I really hope you'll check out POR - so far it's my favourite resort! Granted, it was my first onsite resort, so I may be biased, but still. And I also agree that the Mansions are just beautiful. Check out www.portorleans.org, it's a site by a fellow Diser, and it's got a wealth of information about both Port Orleans resorts.

I'm going to need find a good site for a ticker, as I have a tentative trip booked for late September this year to catch the end of the current Free Dining promotion!

Oh I love you like a sister from another mister! You're too sweet. :littleangel: I let my hair grow out because I had someone give me a really bad haircut. There were so many uneven layers that I had no choice but to let it grow. You'll see in later pictures that I mostly had it in a ponytail and wore a hat.

I liked the hipster for the most part. I don't take much in the parks on the days that it doesn't look like rain so it worked well. On the days that I had to take in the ponchos, it wasn't really big enough. I should have gotten the saddle up style as they say it's larger than the hipster. (Yet another reason to go to the Vera Bradley site or visit one of my favorite ebay sellers. :rolleyes1)

I'll definitely look at the portorleans.org site. I'm just afraid that the Louisiana theme will be "lost" on us Louisiana residents. However, we haven't ruled it out!

We talked about making a quick September trip too but my boss just gave me the evil eye whenever I mentioned it. I didn't get that same evil eye when I said something about Thanksgiving though.

Awesome first night at CBR. Dinner sounded great and how nice to have a Dis meet so soon! Your CBR photos are beautiful. Such a beautiful Resort!

I know the itchy feeling where you just want to get going. It's hard to slow that down, but you did a good job!

:wave2: Saw your TR and stopped in to say hi. We were at Disney May 27-31st when y'all were there. Love your pics of CBR, we've stayed there twice and love it.
