Hi everyone! I am looking for some opinions. Right now we have Comcast high-speed internet. It is great. When it works.

I couldn't get on-line Friday, called Comcast, and they told me it was a system problem. They also call you back when the system is fixed. Well, I get a call that everything is ok, but i still could not get on-line. So I called back. The CS person tried rebooting my system, but I still could not get on-line. So we scheduled a service call. The earliest they could book was today! Five days, are you kidding me? So my dad sat home today waiting for the service person to show up. What they did not tell us was that you have to wait IN your house, because they will call first to make sure you are home. Dad was outside. When I came home from work there was a message on the machine cancelling our service call because no one answered the phone. :furious:

As you can see, we are able to get on-line now. Don't know why, but hey I'm happy. I am not happy with the customer service I received from Comcast. So who do you guys use? My only concern is that we are spoiled from the high speed internet hookup, and going to something like MSN would be horrible!

Any recommendations?

Bell South....soon to be rebranded AT&T like the good old days. :rolleyes2

We have very few issues with our DSL. When it goes out, they get it fixed soon and check up with us thoroughly.

We have AT&T, formerly SBC, DSL internet service. We have had our service for approx three years. I have only had to call for service once, and it turned out that SBC was updating some software. We were back up and running within an hour. I am very satisfied.

We use Verizon. We haven't had any problems that I haven't been able to fix on my own.

I currently have AOL and am looking to make a switch. My dbf has Comcast and has problems with his email sometimes. When he emails me, it sometimes takes up to an hour for the email to appear in my inbox. (btw, I don't use aol email...I use gmail) and I never have a problem receiving anyone else's email right away, so I'm assuming it's Comcast that's the problem.

Are you using regular AOL or high-speed? Why are you switching?

Time Warner cable for the past 6 years. I had a problem about a year and a half ago and there was a tech here in 20 minutes. He said he was in the area for an installation, but service calls took priority.

Regular. I'm still living in the dark ages with dial-up. ;) I'm switching because it's too expensive for how little I use it. Although I don't know when I'll be switching...I've been saying that for about 3 years now. :teeth:

I'm having the same problem!

We have Comcast and don't have a main phone line. We just moved to the area so we kept our old area code and use our cell phones. Do we have any options that we could use without getting a phone line?

Yeah, but it's expensive...you could look into getting a satellite/Internet provider like HughesNet(formerly DirecWay).

agnes!

You can also get cable internet without a phone line. My internet is that way. It's Adelphia, but I'm not sure how widespread it is. Do a web search on high speed internet and type in your zipcode.

we just moved to colorado & have digital voice phone with comcast any affordable suggestions for cable internet?

thanks!

We have Comcast high speed internet, and we've been very pleased with them.

We used to have BellSouth DSL, and we had a horrible time with it. It worked perfectly for about 1.5 years, then it started cutting off after only 10 minutes online. When this happened it would then take about 10 minutes to get it back up and running. My husband made about a dozen calls to BellSouth. They were always polite, but every person seemed to have a different idea about what was wrong and how to fix it. Finally DH spoke to someone at BellSouth who admitted that they know the problem exists in our area, but they do not have any type of fix for it. So, while I give them credit for polite customer service reps, I don't appreciate how long it took to get a straight answer.

We ended up switching to Comcast cable internet and haven't had any problems with them. I think it depends on your area (even down to the wiring at your actual house) about what service providers are better. All of them should be helpful and polite though.

Bellsouth with AOL dial-up as a back up. So far sevice from Bellsouth has been good but I need to re-hook up my Videophone and see if it will work. Need to call Sorenson.
