Who is the nicest celebrity you've ever met? The rudest?

Peter Falk was so-o-o nice to me and my roommate after we had waited 6 hours in his hotel hallway to meet him. He got off the elevator to his room and talked to us for a few minutes. He also gave us his fruit basket that was sent up to his room!! It definetly was well worth the 6 hr wait!!! (The things you do when you're in college!!!:smooth: )

This is from DH"s viewpoint. He was an extra when they filmed the Movie TAPS.

Nicest: George C. Scott, even sat with all the cadets and ate in the mess hall with them. (He didn't eat at his trailer or do weird demands)

Nastiest: It has to be Timothy Hutton. He had just gotten his Oscar for Ordinary People... (the rumor was that he and Tom Cruise, YES DH MET HIM, had to "switch" roles after Timmy won the Oscar)

Timmy... well... was very rude to the cadets. He also was demanding. DH remembers that one night Timmy needed to have a special grill order at 2 am. He woke up the guy who ran the grill and his daughter... (she ran the counter), and made them make food for him...

Because of this... Timmy got a blanket party and well.. lets just say he couldn't film for a few days....

Another cadet, who is our friend/neighbor said Tom Cruise/Sean Penn were fabulously nice, and his job as a cadet was to take them to the King of Prussia mall when they weren't working.. what a gig!

Nicest - Any of the guys from the group Chicago

Rudest - Britney Spears

This is a fun thread!

The nicest "celebrity" I've ever met is our own SideshowBob :earsboy:

Aside from him, I don't think I've ever met any entertainment industry celebrities, but a few sports ones former Boston Bruins Derek Sanderson (back in "the day" as my DD would say ;) ) and more recently Johnny McKenzie, a few Nascar drivers and figure skaters. Retired major league pitcher Bob Tewkskbury is from my town and lives here still, he is very well-respected around town for his community and charitbale work and graciousness.

My BIL met Jerry Lewis on a plane once and said he was horribly rude!

The nicest would be a toss-up between John Travolta and Dudley Moore. The rudest would have to be Susan Anton.

I met John Travolta (well, said "hi" anyway) when I was out to dinner at a nice restaurant with my boyfriend back in '84 or so. He was sitting alone and I didn't recognize him at first...thought he got stood up! LOL! Almost invited him to join us...now that I think of it, I should have! We smiled at each other and said, "hi." I didn't realize who he was until I noticed the waitstaff asking for autographs...Doh!

I worked at a movie theatre in High School and some of the celebrities in the area would come see their movies or others...usually called ahead so they could sneak in after everyone else was in. I got to save seats for Dudley Moore and Susan Anton once...sat thru the whole movie (one of his) with them. Dudley Moore was really nice and polite, but Susan Anton complained the whole time...sound was too soft, too cold, too warm, etc.

   AAAAHHHH!!! I'LL COME WITH YOU!!! I LOVE ALAN!! :) :) :)

tell you dad i said HI and he is the nicest person! ;) ;)

Okay, okay, I'll stop now! ;)

I've met Barry Williams (Brady Bunch) and he was so sweet. It was a long time ago though, but he was just wonderful!

Nicest-Dan Murphy!! :D
Ok Nicest non Diser celeb-Kelli Ripa
I dont know who I would say was rudest only maybe not very friendly or appreciative of their fans would be Vanessa Marcil!

Nicest: Well, I'd say my friend who did the voice of Barney, but I already knew him, so that doesn't count. ;)

In that case I'd say Shane Churla, he played for the Stars (among a lot of other teams), was an "enforcer" in every since, so you'd assume a guy who's job it was to drop the gloves, chuck knuckles & rearrange another player's dental work would be a little gruff, but he was the nicest guy in the world. His wife was absolutely beautiful too. Alan Hale ("The Skipper") was also a really nice person.

Rudest: No doubt, Michael Irvin. I was about to sau something pretty nasty to the guy, but I was at a theater with free admition (a friend was a manger at the time), so I was technically a guest & felt it would be inappropriate.

What I've heard through friends...
Nicest:
Mel Gibson
Johnny Cash
Amy Grant
Wayne Gretzky
Tom Landry
Barry Melrose (I know, I was shocked)

Rudest:
Liza Manelli
Rosie O'Donnell
Mariah Carey
Ryan O'Neil
Pamela Anderson
Barbara Striessand

Nicest: Reba McEntire, Gary Morris, Eddy Rabbit, Mario Andretti

Rudest: Ronny Milsap, Richard Petty

Pam

 leahannpen!!

Unfortunately Leah, Dad will be one of the last to get tix since he is a "lowly" engineer/cameraman and the 47 VPs have first dibs!

Nicest, probably Sammy Davis, Jr. He was performing on Broadway and my uncle brought us backstage to meet him after the play.

I was around 13 years old, and I was so starstruck I couldn't speak.:p He was very sweet and asked us if we liked the show, etc.. All we could do was smile and nod while he autographed our programs.

James Brolin was very nice. I got his autograph during the filming of the Amityville Horror. :D

I met Tony Randall and Jack Klugman at a Theatre here in Miami that I used to do my Dance Recitals in.:o Both very nice. Also met Richard Simmons, and he is by far THE nicest Celeb by far.:o

A zillion years ago, I waited for Sally Field to come out of the bathroom at a gymnastics meet at Cal Berkeley (at least I didn't ambush her in the loo!) She very graciously signed my autograph book.
Chris Isaak is such a good guy to sign autographs after his shows (he will only sign merchandise bought there, but - hey - he'd be there forever if he signed everything!) He will shake the hand of anyone standing in line and thanks each fan for coming to the show. I've heard that he'll sign anything if you catch him at other times.

There aren't many I HAVEN'T met... LOL! I've been a professional fan most of my life and most of my friends just HATE that about me. I lived in NY for 31 years and would see them just walking up and down the street, then I studied theatre in Manhattan and have now been working in cable and radio for 22 years. It's a dream job for a professional fan! :teeth:

Surprisingly, the nicest by far are the BIG stars. They are successful because they are blessed. The mediocre ones are usually mediocre for a reason, too...

My afternoon jock and I had this conversation today and we both agreed the nicest celebrity of all is Lionel Richie. I have NEVER met a nicer guy! He's just real people!

The ones that come to mind as the nicest are:

George Hamilton ( a HOOT!)
The Temptations (they actually sang harmony with me!)
Brooke Shields (a kind and sweet girl)
Luther Vandross! (I had a ball with him!)
Mr. T (everyone thought we knew each other for years!)
Michael W. Smith (if he weren't married... sigh...)
James Brown (I danced on stage with him!)

The rudest?

Well not rude but haughty types were:

Jasmine Guy (Whitley from A Different World, should've been 'Witchley')

Dionne Warwick... ugh...

Diana Ross: She made all of the younger women LEAVE the room!

Phylicia Rashad (she was so rude to my friend she made her cry!)

Gladly the bad were few and far between.

The nicest one I ever met was really not a celebrity, but a celebrity's DAD. He was Tiger Wood's father. He was with a huge entourage of people who he escaped and spent some real quality time with me. I was mesmerized by him! What a gentle, REAL man. Tiger is truly blessed!

Some other categories:

:) Most good looking in person: Alan Thicke, Liz Taylor, Sugar Ray, and WillyJ!

:) Shortest: Elton John, Prince, Susan Lucci and Liza Minelli

:) Largest: Luciano Pavarotti, Rush Limbaugh, Beverly Sills

:) Tallest: The Hawks, the Knicks, Barry Hom and Dan Murphy!

:) Shyest: Liza Minelli, Butterfly McQueen

:) Most gregarious: Tommy Tune and Geoffrey Holder

:) Funniest: Nipsey Russell, Jackie Mason and Jerry Seinfeld

:) Coolest: Usher, Keith Sweat and Spike Lee

This thread has brought back some fond memories! :teeth:

Pam, I had the opposite experience with Richard Petty. For the brief encounter, he was pretty nice. Actually now that I hink about it Jeremy Mayfield ranks up there as one of the nicest too.

I guess it all depends on their mood that particular day.

Sylvester Stallone has got to be the shortest! He is also slightly built. I thought it was some guy that looked like him. It took a while for my husband to convince me it was him. He is short!

I haven't met a ton of celebs & those that I have met, were mostly with Max or politicians.....

Aaron Neville & Raffi are tied for the sweetest, most gentle, loving, compassionate people.
Bruce Hornsby, BB King, Micky Hart, Bob Weir, Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Cassidy were all very kind.

The strangest encounter I had with a celeb was Steven Tyler before he got clean - I hear he's very different now & since I understand about making a fool out of yourself when you're high,I won't say exactly what the encounter was, except it was weird....

I guess the one that sticks out in my mind as the sweetest is Paul Anka. This was back when he was just starting out as a teenager. My friend and I went backstage and asked for his autograph which he kindly did. Then he sat down at a piano and sang to us for about a half hour! I told him it was my birthday and he kissed me on both cheeks. LOL I had just turned 16 and he was about the same age. I've meet Johnny Cash, a real sweetheart and Richard Simmons, really sweet and very funny. I've met a lot of the stars from Star Trek (classic and Next Gen) all very nice, except for Shatner. He was very abrupt. David Copperfield was very nice and signed autographs for anyone who wanted them in the theatre. I've met most of the people that were on the old original Dark Shadows. They were all so nice and just chatted with you like old friends. I also met Bobby Burgess at Disney World and after signing autographs chatted with us. The only rude stars I ever met were The Three Stooges. They wouldn't sign our autographs and told us to leave. I haven't watched them since.

Most of the celebs I've encountered have been at sci-fi conventions. I've met most of the cast of the Highlander tv series and they certainly seem appreciative of their fans. I think maybe they didn't expect the kind of audience loyalty and reaction they received, especially the co-stars and guest actors, such as Peter Wingfield, Stan Kirsch, Jim Byrnes, and Anthony Delongis.

My mother, her aunt, and a couple of cousins were in DC on vacation and someone offered to take their picture so all 4 could be in the shot. That someone turned out to be Lloyd Bentsen, former US Senator and Treasury Secretary. Now if that isn't nice, I don't know what is.

Rudest-Mike Schmidt-he was being inducted into the Little League Hall of Fame and was surrounded by 9 &10 year olds who just wanted him to answer some questions or say hi, and he acted like they weren't even in the room, and even gave them dirty looks. No smile, nothing!

Nicest-Wayne Webb (well, maybe that's because he was flirting with me when I was at a pro bowling tournament with my now dh) Jim Palmer, Cal Ripken, Jr., Omar Vizquel, Kenny Lofton judging based on how I've seen them treat the kids asking for autographs.

Marginal-Jim Thome-sometimes acts as if he can't be bothered
