Who is selling girl scout cookies here?

I never knew until today that the cost of the cookies depends on the state. I have one co-worker from New York selling boxes for her niece at $3,50 a box, while another co-worker from New Jersey selling them for her daughter has to charge $4 a box. I was told Connecticut is $4 also.

That got me curious - how much are they in your area?

PS - I'm buying from both girls.

The price is actually set by the individual GS Councils.

And is there anyone in NJ or even NYC that is selling cookies from ABC Bakers? Seriously, if you're having a booth sale somewhere just let me know. I seriously want some of their cookies. :thumbsup2

I had my cookie meeting last night and our council (Jersey shore area in NJ) set the price at 3.50. I was glad because I think you get so much less than years ago so I was hoping they wouldn't be 4.00.

All the booth sales will be posted online this year so people can see where they are. We are doing them in March. I think someone asked about where they would be.

Do you know which baker you're using? Little Brownie or ABC?
Thanks. :)

We are. We couldn't start our sale until today (council rules). I've taken orders for 14 boxes here at work so far. This is DD's first year, although I sold cookies as a girl scout many years ago.

My DD6 is a Daisy and our council just gives us boxes to sell. I hate it. They give us 24 boxes and this is no problem for me because we have a HUGE family. WHat is a problem is getting rid of the gross peanutbutter sandwhiches when everyone wants caramel delights. I could sell 100 boxes of those alone and they give me 5?!? :confused3

Anyway, we only make like $.43 a box, which is lame. Girl Scouts is making money hand over fist, but thats a whole other story LOL.

So now I had to go to our local site since I have not had a knock on my door. Go date is tommorrow and they have the Lemon Chalet cookies back. Not that I need them.;)

Some of our council cookie sale stats:
*I think we are one of the only councils left in the country (literally) that is still selling at $3.00 per box! (We were told they WILL go up next year)

*The troop makes .50 per box

*Our troop is participating in Gift of Caring and will send cookies to troops in Iraq

Incentives:
12+ boxes:Participation Patch
75+ boxes: Panda Luggage Tag
100+ boxes: Tye Dye Bandana
160+ boxes: Panda Journal and Pen
200+ boxes: Tye Dye Tote Bag
300+ boxes: Panda Classic Tee Shirt
400+ boxes: Miranda Panda Stuffed Bear
and I won't fill in the rest in between, but 2010+ boxes is an ipod touch or Best Buy gift card

DD7 really really wants the panda, but 400 plus boxes just for a stuffed panda is crazy. (and she already has one from the National Zoo from Washington DC)
We will probably not do a cookie booth this year, they are lottery based through the council. Kroger (our largest grocery chain in our area), Walmart, Lowes were our best locations for cookie booths and have all stopped allowing the booths this year. :sad2:

I'm DD's troop leader and would love to make some decent money for troop activities, it is really hard to collect $ from 20 girls for each activity.

Best wishes for great cookie sales to everyone!!:cheer2:

Our incentives are much lower here. 12 boxes and you get a participation patch, the tie dye bandana at 40, and so on.

What council are you in?

Our cookie sales start Jan. 23rd. I'm the lucky cookie mom again this year, as well as troop leader. ;) We use Little Brownie Baker and our boxes are $4.00. Our profit is $.75 per box, or if you're a Junior level or above you can opt out of incentives and get $.80 per box.

Our incentives start at 12 for a Participation patch.
40+ Tie Dye Bandana
80+ Beanie Cap
120+ Metal Water Bottle
150+ Panda book, luggage tag and Panda plush
200+ Wristlet
250+ Insulated Lunch Box
325+ 3D Watch
400+ Tie Die Tote Bag
500+ U-fest Invite
750+ Camping Kit
1000+ Slumber Party Invite
1500+ Flip Video Camera
2000+ Family 4-pack of PH tix to DLR or $400 Disney Gift Card

I have 11 Brownies and last year most of them sold at least 100 boxes. 2 sold 300 and 1 sold 400. They set some serious goals this year, but with the economy I'm not sure they'll pull it off. But, they'll have lots of fun trying!

One of the girls at our dance school is in girl scouts and brought her cookie order form in the same day they gave it out. My DH & I ordered 19 boxes. When I called DH to see what he wanted, he said that he wanted 4 boxes of the new Very Berry Munch and 4 boxes of Tagalongs. I also had to add my DD's cookies to my order (she got 3 boxes) and I ordered the rest (another 5 boxes of Tagalongs and 3 of Thin Mints).

I am good friends with the mom and she laughed. So far we have the biggest order of all her DD's orders. I think we had the largest order last year too. :lmao:

We had our church's permission to have booth sales after our masses (Catholic school troop). So we only ordered about 6 or 7 extra cases. It was a really great idea considering our booth sale was right before Thanksgiving. It would have been even greater if the priest hadn't cancelled the sale the day before we picked up our non-returnable cookies. :headache:

It worked out okay because 4 of us parents just brought cases to work and sold the extra. Good thing for parents!!

Thats crazy that they are non-returnable. When we do cookie booths we pick up the cases of cookies form council on consignment- we only pay for what we sell and return the rest! We would not do any cookie booths if there was a chance you would get stuck with the cookies at the end if they didn't sell- thats nuts!

Thanks. what span of time do you book for, an hour? more?

We have our booths booked already- we are doing the local train station from 4pm-8pm on the Monday after cookies come in march. We have one set for a local Walmart from 10am-6pm and we have another set in the local mall fomr 11-4 -I like that one-at least its warm in there!! We FREEZE at the train station and Walmart.

Can I buy girl scout cookies online anywhere? I never see them around here anymore.:sad1: I'm dreaming of thin mints.

Cookies $4 box here. Troops get to keep $.75 box, $.85 if they choose not to get incentives.

20-39 boxes participation patch
40-99 tie dye bandana
100-134 panda cards
110 initial order tie dye beanie cap
135-199 panda tee & $10 cookie credit
200-299 small stuffed panda & $15 cookie credit
300-399 tie dye tote & $25 cookie credit
400-499 pink fleece blanket & $35 cookie credit
500-999 bath towel wrap & $50 cookie credit
1000+ family barbeque, meet ceo & $100 cookie credit
I believe the prizes are cumulative except for cookie credit (to be used at girl scout store or camp)

I really don't like cookie sales, but I do think girls can get a lot out it (with lots of help from their parents). My DD wants to sell! So I do what I can to help her. I hope eventually our troop concentrates on booth sales.

The girls are not allowed to sell on line, though they've relaxed those rules a bit to say they can ask their friends on Facebook or similar sites, but they can't set up a website to sell. (at least in our council -- the rule might vary, I'm not sure)

The best way to find cookies in your area is to contact your local Girl Scout Council. This wiki map seems to show what Councils serve what areas of NY. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scouting_in_New_York#Girl_Scouting_in_New_York

Call the Council for where you live, give them the name of the nearest elementary, middle or high school, and they should be able to put you in touch with a troop close to your home.

Good luck!

We get a whopping 50 cents per box...girls can't choose not to get incentives until they are cadets and then its 5 cents more per box....from the quality of the "prizes" I think I would prefer the 5 extra cents per box! They give out junk to these kids for all the work! This year the girls voted on what to use the money for (its their money so each year they vote on where to go or what to do with it)- last year they chose to save it so they could have more this year to do something-they chose a 2 night trip to Great Wolf Lodge

We can't return our booth cookies either. The train station is a great idea wish we had one closer! Our local Walmart isn't allowing it this year. I'm not getting alot help from the other parents so I'm not sure I want to do the mall. I can see myself trying to lug a table and all these cookies alone! I have to try and recruit some help. I guess I better get moving on my booth!
