Who is going in February????

WANNABE@WDW -

Today I attended a meeting for work & heard about 3 different families who will be at WDW for Mardi Gras! I'm jealous.

I believe that Mardi Gras is on Feb. 8th. We are hoping to go Feb. 6th - 12th. We will be bringing my parents with us. They have not been since 1982. I think they will get a kick out of seeing how much it has grown since then. Does anyone know when codes usually come out for Feb.? I htink my kids will enjoy having their grandparents with them. All I know is that it can't be as crowded as it was last Thanksgiving. I would rather deal with the weather being cold over large crowds.

Liz: Someone from Baton Rouge said their kids were out for Mardi Gras Feb 5-13 and planned on being at Disney. SO there might be an increase of folks from Louisiana trying to escape the drunken madness!! I don't blame them!!

We are heading to WDW around Feb. 26 - March 5 or so. We have free vouchers for Northwest thanks to a bump last Feb at MCO. :) :) :)

I need to call and secure our flight dates this weekend. I think we will be onsite this trip for the first time! :) The last 2 trips were offsite at HIFS.

We're leaving January 30th and staying at CB until February 2nd, then on to AKL until Febuary 6th. We were there this past February and had beautiful weather. We hope it will be just as nice next year.

DH parents and brother are staying for two days at AKL with us at the end of our trip, so this is going to be extra special. DD"s (10 and 4) haven't seen them in over two years.:)

I guess I have to start planning this trip. I'm still planning our current Disney Cruise for this October. I hope to get great AP rates for both trips.

We'll be there Feb 5th through the 12th - 5 nights at the Dolphin and 2 at Royal Pacific. Does everyone have their rooms booked and then you're just waiting for codes, ap rates, etc to come out???

I hope they release AP codes early this year. It sure would make planning easier. The less we spend on rooms the more extras we do! I wonder when Southwest will release Feb schedules? I am sure the flights will be full out of New Orleans... with every one trying to escape "the drunken madness" (lol).

I was wondering about Southwest too. I have been doing a little looking for flights and for us it seems like driving to Buffalo to go with Southwest may be the best way to go - especially if the Feb rates resemble the current Jan rates....Southwest is less than half the cheapest I can get flying out of Toronto.

Does anyone know if the Mardi Gras thing has a large impact on crowds, or not really because it is pretty quite at that time of year anyway? I am really hoping that it is not too crowded. I am not a huge fan of standing in line (I know, I'm going to the wrong place - lol) and I am hoping by picking htis time of year it is fairly quite.

We can't wait for our trip and won't mind having to bring our sweatshirts - as long as we can leave the snowpants and boots at home!! :sunny: :sunny:

PS - to answer a previous post - we have made our room reservations - but are still praying for good discount codes!

It seems that all of you are veterans at this, so I guess this is the perfect place to ask, do all of you have reservations already or do you wait until the discount codes come out. We have always done Disney in October, but with DH's business we need to switch to winter months.

So, to all of the veterans do I reserve now, or wait for the discount codes. Also, we are torn between where to stay. We have always done the Boardwalk Inn, but maybe there is somewhere else we should try. It will be DH, DD's 6 and 12 and myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, we are thinking of going concierge, we had it last year on the magic, and this year at the Atlantis. That said, what is the best concierge spot????

Thanks for you help.

I'm very excited. We have only gone as adults once, so it is all still very new.

We have AKL Concierge reserved for the 16-20th and then to BCV for the 20-25th. I'm hoping for a discount code of some sort. I don't think we can cough up the rack rate for Concierge for 4 nights. My DH and DD really wanted to stay at AKL and do the Sunrise Safari. It should be great! Perhaps I'll see some of you in the lounge!

DutchsMommy - Remember you will be doing that drive to BUF in Feburary!!

I'll be there in February for my honeymoon. We're flying down Monday the 7th and staying until Valentine's Day. I hope there will be good discounts. We are currently thinking about staying at the Wilderness Lodge if we can swing it, but I would also love to stay at the Contemporary.
Does Disney get really busy around Mardi Gras time?? Just curious. I hope the weather will be perfect while we're there.

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd answer a few questions that have been asked... :)

Here is the thread I posted on the Theme Parks Board asking about Mardi Gras at WDW, crowds and such:
Mardi Gras at WDW

According to Mousesavers Historical Codes Charts it looks like we February goers need to start watching for codes in October! We should all post here if/when we hear anything for our time frame!! :)

And for those who asked if we've made ressies yet...YES!!!! Make your ressies as soon as you know when you want to go and where you want to stay. That way you know you're getting what you want (which may not be available if you wait)! You can always apply codes after your ressie is made...which is what we'll be doing.

We're going February 15 - 25. I have no idea where we are staying (already have our plane tickets) from the 15th-21st. We'll be taking my Dad (his 1st trip to Disney) so we'll need 2 rooms since there will be 5 of us. I'm thinking of 2 rooms at POFQ or if a good discount comes out maybe 2 standards rooms at WL or AKL.

My Dad flies home on the 21st so we rented points from a DVC member and are staying at the Beach Club Villas for our last 4 nights. Can't wait! 10 nights at Disney!!!

We love going in February. It's been as cool as 63 for a high during the day and as hot as 85. So it's good to be prepared for anything. Temps in the night can get chilly. Since we are from the Northeast we love getting away during February. It breaks up the long winter!:sunny:

I'm hoping my DH will agree and if so Feb 26 - Mar 5 at Ft. Wilderness camping. We've never done this before so hopefully it will be OK!

We'll be at the WL/Swan March 2-7 for NH vaca as well!

We'll also be going to avoid Mardi Gras. We have reservations at POR for Feb. 5-Feb. 12. I was unable to get any sort of discount. I assumed that the AAA rates for 2005 aren't out yet. Hopefully some time in October some good rates will come out.

We are going January 29- February 5th.. we are booked into the FW cabins and I am so looking forward to a discount code!

:bounce: It's official.... we're headed back Feb 6 - Feb 12! Taking advantage of the Mardi Gras break / value season.

We were there this year as well during Mardi Gras. From what I remember, codes didn't show up until the beginning of January.

So you were there during Mardi Gras?? How were the crowds? Did you see or do anything special to celebrate it?

As far as codes, according to the Mousesavers Historical Codes it looks like for an early Feb. check-in date, the codes have been released in Oct/Nov/Dec over the past few years. So we'll be watching for them this fall!!! :)

We will be arriving 2/16 and staying 5 nights. Not sure where we will be staying:flower: I guess I will book something and then hope for an AP rate to come out!!!
