Who is Gaston?

My friend is a cast member and says Gaston is very swoon worthy.

My DD was afraid to see Gaston because she was wearing her Belle dress and she didn't want him to fall in love with her too. After she got up the courage, she was swooning too.

My DW and I went to see a national touring version of the musical Jekyll & Hyde a little while back... the guy playing Sir Danvers Carew was Richard White, the voice of Gaston from the movie. I only caught it from reading the program, but man when he started talking and singing, you could certainly tell he was Gaston. It was hilarious & awesome for Disney fans like us. Pretty imposing fellow himself, even without the Gaston getup.

OP, it is really worth watching Beauty and the Beast again. The humor behind Gaston's character is one of the best in any of the Disney movies. He's a bad guy you can't help but love. (of course until he gets all freaky evil at the end....)

We still love Gaston and Beast is my favourite Disney character!

DW and I attended a screening of BATB with Richard White. Gaston is kind of a steroidal version of Richard, isn't he?

I have never been a Beauty and the Beast fan because I think it kinda supports that "I can change him. If I only love him enough" mentality. Although, I do love the song "Be Our Guest".

Hmm- that's not really how I see it. I've always seen it as a don't judge someone by the way they look outside -it is the inside that counts- movie. Gaston- the good looking guy is evil inside while the Beast might have been gruff on the outside and generally in a bad mood because of his circumstance, but he was the true good person. Now, the "Once Upon a Time" series is a whole different matter when it comes to Belle and the Beast.

Aurorameansdawn, I'm a little worried about your choices of men in real life...of some of you other posters too!

Actually, we met Gaston during the Holiday season, I have to admit he was quite a charmer (AlohaPolynesian- I think he was probably your Gaston). DD (6) wasn't having any of it though. She wouldn't get near him. She is also mad because she has decided that they tore down Minnie and Mickey's house to make room for his Tavern and she hates it! I had to settle for a picture of DH and Gaston flexing their muscles together because DD was NOT going to take a picture with him!


That song is going to be stuck in my head for weeks now!

This guy has soooo much talent...Gaston perfect! Love him...watching him doing meet & greet was like watching mini-show. What a character. We saw other Gastons during the visit, and they didn't hold a candle to this guy. (This Gaston was on several of the national news stories about the opening of New Fantasyland...he's that good.)
