That is AWESOME! I added up my sales for fun the other day...$397 so far...

How is it going? I took 2 bags of clothes and 2 boxes of books to goodwill yesterday.

The two closets I need to go through in the basement have been stalled, because a lot of the stuff in them needs to go in the garage....so of course, I have to clean out some of the garage first.

Inspiring to read everyone's progress! I donated 3 big bags of stuff last week. I'm getting stuff together for another round of consignment. I made a total of $125 from the last one. :yay: I'm really excited about that! And I'm so glad I didn't have to have a yard sale. I know they can be lucrative too, but this is less work for me.

I'm getting ready for the next round of items now. This time in addition to clothes, there will be puzzles, games, baby stuff, and toys.

2 large yard wast bags full of clothes taken to goodwill last week! DH and I remodled our kitchen and are being very careful in what we allow to come back in. We also cleaned out the garage this weekend. Next stop- the basement! ( we will probably wait untill summer to start that project) until then, I'm working on my closet. This is great. It really is easier to keep the house clean when there is little to no junk laying around!

Finally joining in :) I have been working at decluttering for about a month now, off and on. Our garage is looking so much better already!
I took one large bag of clothes to the children's consignment shop. Hoping to use that money as store credit to buy the few remaining things that we need for the kids' summer clothing.
I sold some of our cloth diaper stash and was shocked at how quickly those sold on Craig's List. I sold most of them for the same amount that I bought them for (used at that time, too) because I had kept them in top shape and line dried them in the sunshine to keep them stain-free. Made $300! I took that cash and bought disney gift cards for our upcoming trip.
I have some more things to list on Craig's List and a lot more to sort through for the consignment shop, just not enough spare time to work on it right now. Maybe next weekend I can spend a few more hours.
We also dropped off two garbage bags full of adult clothing and other odds and ends to Goodwill. Felt great to get that out of the house!

Not exactly de-trashing but we did a lot of 'been meaning to do that' stuff today. Like deep cleaned our kitchen. Cleaned the oven, the vent over the stove, the baseboards, went through a big pile of mail, scrubbed kids fingerprints off the walls and cabinets. Ya know all that stuff you should do more often but tend to 'let go'.

It's all sparkly in there now.

Destashed a bunch of Disney Paper. You know, the times guides, napkins, maps that have seen much better days, photos that are out of focus....:wizard:
Worked on "the cats" room, thought I would get much more to throw out of there. Guess I have been plugging away on it more and better than I thought.
3 more years and we are moving and don't want to have to do it all then!
DS 18 starts college in Oct so he has been bringing me tons of stuff. He has just been throwing a fair amount as well.

Once it warms up we need to get into both of the sheds. Do not think will take long just finding the time to do it.

Had a good weekend getting rid of another load of clothes. And some outside toys. Tis the season.

I did a major destash at the beginning of March and got rid of tons of stuff, especially clothes, which I horde. My DH remarked after I was done, "Wow, we have a walk-in closet!" Yeah, it was pretty bad.

I'm so late on this, but count me in too! I just found this thread and I'm loving it!:goodvibes

I'm trying to work on destashing our closets for an upcoming move and I've got so much work to do! My husbands in the military and hasn't received orders yet, but we know we have to be out of here in 7 weeks. Great motivation to destash, huh?? :rotfl2:

I am jumping in. We have decided to move in June.

I want to reduce my belingings by half. Half the clothes, half the kitchen items, half the shoes.

I am getting rid of all my antique china collection and my Barbie doll collection. I am selling my 20 year collection of rubber stamps. I have more than 10,000 of them.

So far I listed about 25 Barbies on ebay...only a few sold. I brought my first bin of kids clothes to Kid to Kid.

I am going to start working on each room at a time. I have a bin for things I can sell. I bin for yard sale and a bin for donating.

This is going to be a huge project but I am movated to get rid of all this junk that I don't need. I am going to try to sell as much as possible to put towards moving expenses and a Disney trip. That is giving me great motivation!

Knock Knock...Where is everyone? Is everyone on spring break this week?

I'll admit, I've been slacking. I shopped today, but I only came home with 4 things...Still, time to do some purging!

Hi everyone!

Whew...it's been sooo busy lately! Sadly, it seems like my home got worse. It just became a place to eat, sleep and shower, but not a place to live, if you know what I mean. But....it's now Spring Break!

I work for a school system, so I'm out with my guys. We were supposed to go to Gulf Shores, AL, but my friend who lives there was in a car wreck. He's going to be okay, but I didn't think he needed an 8 year old flying around his house. So, I decided to rethink my vacation in a positive manner. I signed my son up for a football camp he wanted to attend. Check this out...I will have to have him AT the camp during the week at the same time that I would normally be waking him up for school. So much for sleeping in!

 Thinking positive here, so I'm considering doing a Hoarder's style intervention (minus the garbage and crazy stuff :scared1:) on the worst rooms in my house, but just room by room. I have a folding table and a tarp that I can put on the ground in my carport. I'm considering taking everything out of a room, vacuum/polish etc and only bring things back in that I have a space for and truly want. Everything else will go in organized boxes for my yard sale. That won't solve paperwork and stuff, but I'll keep that stuff for in the evening when it's dark outside. Has anybody done something this drastic before? I would just like to work like crazy this week and then just do maintenance after that. I just don't know if this is reasonable or a sure fire way to burn out by Tuesday. Any thoughts?

New here.

We have been meaning to destash for ages, but DH and I finally got around to doing some of it this weekend (we were off work yesterday). We've managed to sell $160 worth of stuff and freecycled several things as well. There is still TONS to do, but it is nice to put a dent in it. So far we've cleaned out the garage and the obvious junk from our basement storage room. Next up is the kids' closet. There are way too many hand me downs in there that DS2 isn't likely to wear. The office closet (AKA "out of sight dumping ground") should be high on the list too.

We'd like to be able to move in a year or so, and the mere thought of staging our house is overwhelming to say the least. I'm hoping it might be a little easier after we've done a bit of destashing.

i have never posted here but i need advice. i have been decluttering for several weeks and doing fairly good. my problem is holiday decorations, i have so much but can not decide what to down size on. everything seems special or cute or reminds me of my kids when they were little. i really need advice on how to get over this. i have been going through my closet and have about 3 large black garbage bags for goodwill. also, do most of you get rid of the previous seasons clothes and rebuy next season or keep the clothes and pack them away. i feel so overwhelmed with having so much stuff. any advice is appreciated thanks

Ummm...this is the BUDGET board :lmao: I have clothes from 10+ seasons ago. As long as they fit, are wearable and I still like them, they stay. :thumbsup2

During the Winter Olympics I was sporting a sweatshirt that was from the Lillehammer games around the house. They were held in 1994. The shirt is still in good shape and it's comfy
