Who is booking the Poly for next year, despite rumors?

So, once the 2014 rates come out, I will be ready to book for next year's trip in August 2014. :dance3:

The Poly is our first choice, but the rumors of DVC construction are holding us back! :scared:

Who is going to book the Poly regardless and if you won't, what is your back up??

I am thinking CR Atrium CL if I don't book Poly....but I really want Poly!!! :wizard:

Maybe I am just worrying for nothing...you know how Disney is! :rolleyes1

I'm currently planning to book for May of 2014 when the rates come out.

I think I can live with DVC construction at or near the site of the current Luau Cove (we'll just request a longhouse on the other side of the resort).

But there's no way I'm paying the big bucks to stay there if either the Volcano Pool (which is rumored to be closed for a long refurb starting in January 2014) or the GCH is closed. If either of those are closed, I haven't decided whether I'd rather switch to another Monorail resort, the WL, or a moderate.

Yes, I would be ok with construction on ONE side of the resort as well. I can't imagine that the pool wouldn't be functioning in summer (May through Aug) but I guess crazier things have happened....I am definitely worried about the pool situation. :sad1:

We haven't decided yet where we're staying next year, but the Poly is definitely in the running. DVC construction wouldn't bother me, but the pool and GCH would be a deal breaker for me if they were closed for refurb. Out of all of the resorts we've stayed at, the volcano pool is our favorite and is definitely one of the (many) reasons we would stay at the Poly during the warmer months.

This is the same thing I was thinking. With 3 kids the pool being closed is a deal breaker. I think I could handle construction at the Luau cove though.

When 2014 rates come out I think I'm going to go ahead and book CR instead of the Poly. Even though I'm starting to look at the BWI and I considered 2 rooms at a moderate.

Is there a reason you have to decide and book so far in advance.:confused3 If you wait 6 months you might have a better idea of what's going on.

Personally, we book up to a year in advance because then we just spread out the cost of the trip and make monthly payments to Disney and we like to have it paid off about 2 months before we go.

We don't use credit cards so I can't just plunk down a card and pay and we tried just making a Disney savings account but I kept taking the money out. I'm really good about not taking money out of our regular savings account but had no discipline when it came to the Disney account. Therefore it's easier to hand the money over to them on a monthly basis. :goodvibes

i think we will be back there in September 2014 or dec since we have a cruise in September. I am not really worried about the construction. based on what it looks like next spring we will decide for sure on September. honestly even with serious construction if the pool is still open, we will most likely still stay there in hawaii if a discount is offered that keeps it attractive to us.

if not it will be a good opportunity to try out wl cl, which interests us.

We are hoping to book a BB this August for next year and really wanted to book the Poly as it is my youngest DD's only request for her sweet 16 next year. However, if there is a lot of construction including the pool and/or GCH, we definitely will NOT stay there. While I can handle "some" construction, I won't pay that type of money to deal with major construction. I may book it if we do get the BB, but will most likely switch to another resort as it gets closer and the rumors become more factual. I was totally bummed when I started hearing rumors about the Poly as it also the one resort I have been wanting to try too! We'll see...

both the Disney savings and the monthly payments sound like a fabulous idea!!. I may borrow that for our 2014 trip - which until I started reading this post was going to be at least partially at the Poly. Is the construction scheduled to be all year? BLT took almost 2 years, so I can't imagine this being less.:scared1:

The construction I could probably deal with, since we plan to stay CL and it wouldn't be near us. The pool would be a deal breaker. We will have a 4 year old and she loves her midday pool breaks.

WL CL is simply :cloud9:

It is rumored that DVC won't be complete until anywhere between 2015 - 2017... :scared1:

Our payment "plan" definitely works for us, and allows us to afford wonderful vacations every year!

We would also be booking CL. We have never stayed in the Hawaii bldg (or Poly for that matter) but from the resort maps, it looks like we would be smack in the middle of the resort, so construction at either end would not be visible? Is that accurate? :confused3

i want to try it. i see good things about it. also, see you stayed yc cl. did you like that? i ask because we love Polynesian cl but bc cl was not for us. wondering how wl compares to the two? i know some love bc cl or yc cl and weren't fans of Polynesian cl.

While we really liked YC as a resort, CL there was meh for us....the food offerings were basically a fried puff pastry of some sort every night (except for scallops wrapped in bacon one night). The lounge is a lot smaller at YC with no real view or anything. The CM's were nice but not like the ones at WL who acted like we were family. (Except for Shakira at YC - she was awesome!)

WL food offerings were chili, meatballs, chicken wings, chicken on a stick, scallops wrapped in bacon, etc....awesome!

We would stay at YC again, but not CL. We wouldn't dream of staying at WL without CL, it was that good! :goodvibes

i think we would really like wl cl then. i would say exactly this about bc cl v. Polynesian cl. we will try it one day. September 2014 would be a good time to try a new resort if we only do a few days before cruise.

You will love it!!!

If we don't book Poly, we will do CR Atrium CL and give that a whirl! Can't beat the view from the lounge there! :goodvibes

We considered Sugarloaf at GF but just can't get excited about that one...

September 2014 would be a good time to try a new resort if we only do a few days before cruise.

This is what we are doing in December. We are taking a 3 night DCL cruise, with WDW stays before and after. We are trying CR CL prior to the cruise and Poly CL after. We've stayed at the Poly and love it, so CL there will be a first for us. We've never stayed at the CR, so the resort (as well as CL) will be new :goodvibes.
