I have written a response to Mr. Nice Guy in regards to my termination letter that I received yesterday (due to some glaring errors and omissions on my "notice of separation") and I would like to send copies to the vice-president and president of the company as well..

What is the proper way of doing that? Do I include a cover letter or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Generally, you note at the bottom of the letter that there is an enclosure and that you are sending copies of the letter to the someone else. The website below shows examples on how to do this. Scroll through to the example of memo format. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet, so I had to seek out examples on the net to make sure I was giving you the right information. Also, make sure you send the letters certified mail return receipt.

You don't need to include a cover letter to the people you are copying the letter to, you just need to indicate that it is also being sent to them on the original. Unless, that is, you want to say something additionally to the VP and Pres. So, on the bottom of the original letter, you would put something that looks like this:

cc: Vice Pres's name
Pres's name

Do a google search on 'business letter formats' or something similar to find other examples. Also, if you are going to send them Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested, you should indicate that somewhere on the letter, for example, below the cc: line. So it would look like this:

cc: Vice Pres's name
Pres's name
CERTIFIED MAIL
RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED

Edited to add: the board apparently won't recognize additional spaces. :) I would tab the VP and Pres name so they are lined up.

Good luck with it.

Thanks so much!

There are some glaring inaccuracies and omissions on my Separation Report and I want to make sure they are addressed..

(And of course it doesn't "hurt" that it will point out that Mr. Nice Guy dropped the ball................................)
