Priced out airfare for our mid May trip. Usually there's like a $10-20 difference for booking each leg of the trip separate instead of booking RT all at once. Booking each leg separate is preferred because its easier to change/cancel if necessary but for this May it was $177 RT each compared to $258 RT if we booked each way separately. Is this something new or have I just gotten lucky in the past? Any other benefits/issues with booking the RT all at once?

IME, round trip being cheaper is how things used to work, and the individual legs working out roughly the same is a more recent phenomenon. Would be good to see R/T discounts come back.

One thing I’ve seen with JB is if there’s multiple flight options on a single day (like a direct vs a 1-stop layover, vs a later flight) each of those can have very different prices, so have to make sure you’re comparing apples to apples.

On our last JB flight we booked R/T with TrueBlue points, and in that case points redemption was much cheaper for R/T than doing one-way each way.
