Is it as hard as I'm reading it to be to join? I just want to sell a few Disney items (no, no Cindy's ressies, park passes or anything like that) but it looks extremely complicated from what I've read. Am I making too big a deal about it? Also, wasn't the DIS boards supposed to have an auction board at some point?

Thanks much!

I am. It is actually very easy to join. Their community forums are very helpful for newbies. As long as you understand how ebay operates and the terms of your auctions are clear then you should do well.

I'm registered but don't really sell a lot. I do have some things to get rid of and need to get them out there. The process of selling isn't that hard, but they make the registration process sound intimidating. It's all legalese, IMHO. They just want to cover themselves in case something happens. I had heard that the Dis was going to get an auction site going, but haven't heard anything since.

It's really very easy. What I did before I listed any of my items is to do a search for those items and see what wording, titles etc seemed to get the most hits. This way I had an idea of what to say. Also make sure you put enough in your shipping charges to actually cover the cost of shipping including your shipping materials (boxes, bubble wrap, paper etc.). Go to www.usps.com and print out the postal areas and the rates.

I am registered, but I buy more than I sell! My DH is an ebay addict and he sells lots of stuff on there...It really is easy and they have a great community for help if you need it! :)

I registered a few weeks ago and thought it was fairly simple. I sold a couple of things and so far it's all gone smoothly. :)

It's very easy, as everyone else has said. I've been on eBay for a couple of years. My buy-to-sell ratio is about 75/25. Good luck, and be sure to read feedback on other ebayers before you buy :)

I am registered. I sell things once in a while. Sometimes buy. I have not done as much on Ebay in the past year as I used to - but it is very easy really.

Another ebayer here,lol...Been selling a bunch of things for over a year now, and haven't had any major problems. Even sold two cars. One was mine, and I also listed another for a friend, and they both went smoothly.

Even sold a Pet Rock that was a gift I received back in the '70's. I kept it in pretty good shape, the box & instructions too;) Anyway, I got a cool $40 bucks for it!

"Have a Nice Day" :D

I have been thinking of selling on EBay too. a quick question for all of you. How does Ebay get their money? I am totally unaware of the process.

PRINCESS VIJA, this is straight from ebay, and hopefully it'll help some:D

How do I pay eBay?
You have many different options —eBay Direct Pay, credit card, check or money order.

eBay Direct Pay: The easiest and most convenient way to make a payment on your eBay account. Simply provide eBay with your checking account number and bank routing number and eBay will automatically deduct your account for your monthly invoice amount. Once you have signed up for eBay Direct Pay, your bank account will be deducted on a fixed day of the month dependent on your billing cycle. To sign up for eBay Direct Pay or update your current checking account information, just complete this safe and easy form. This option is only available to users billed in US dollars with bank accounts in the United States.

Credit Card: You can place your credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Card) on your eBay account for regular monthly payments. Each month eBay will automatically charge your invoice amount directly to your credit card on file. Your credit card will normally be charged 7-10 days after receipt of your invoice. Click here to place your credit card on file for automatic monthly billing or update your current credit card information.

One-Time Payments: You can also make a one-time payment on your account using eBay Direct Pay or your Credit Card.

Check or Money Order: Simply print a payment coupon and include it along with your check or money order. The payment coupon will include your eBay account number, user ID, email address, payment due amount, and appropriate eBay mailing address. Please remember to print your eBay account number on the front of your check or money order. Click here to print a payment coupon.

Please Note: If you have a credit card on file for automatic monthly billing, please keep in mind that any money owed at the time of invoicing will be charged to your credit card (even if a payment is made between your Billing Cycle Date and the day your credit card is charged). Click here to learn more about monthly invoicing and credit card charging.

Ebay has a listing of charges they apply to each aution. They base it on a percentage of the starting price, final selling price and any extras added to enhance the auction (addtional photos in the auction and other perks). It's on their site & I apologize for not digging further right now, but I'm about to join a long conference call and don't have the time to zip over there. :( Ebay will send you a bill via email each month.

Another ebayer here!!! :) I've been selling for about a year now. :) I've probably made close to $8,000 selling old clothes. It amazes me how much people will pay for used clothing. Especially baby clothes.

Warning! It's very addictive. I'm constantly cleaning out closets and selling everything but the kitchen sink! LOL ;) It's very easy to sell... just remember to describe your item well and add lots of pictures. :D

Good Luck!!

I'll try to pick up on the fees question as best I can, as it sound confusing even to read it on ebay.

It's free to browse and buy...That's the easy way to ebay, lol!

If you're selling, there are two fees that apply:
The first fee is the Listing Fee, and the second is the Final Value Fee, which only applies if the item sells. So, no matter what, ebay will get a listing fee, even if the item doesn't sell, and obviously, no final value fee if an item doesn't sell.

When listing, there a some options that you can use like adding more pictures, a bold title, etc. These will add to the Listing Fee.

Here's the link that explains the fees: http://pages.ebay.com/help/included/header.html

I LOVE eBay!! I only sell, never buy. I try to put up 30 to 50 auctions a week (check it out,I'm "owaves"). Ebay has brought me through some lean financial times. I'm so glad I learned how to sell!
