Linda: Not knowing Michigan is a state? Wow! Sometimes I wonder how some people can be functioning adults, like pay their bills and buy a house and car, and understand their paychecks and benefits and insurance and stuff. Boggles my mind.

My mom just called and put Emma on the phone to tell me a story of her bad afternoon picking up Lyzzie from a girl scout overnight: "We goed to get my sister and there was a big place and Grammy didn't know how to get out and we had to go batwards and we banged into a twee and broke the window and there was glass all over inside the car and it was really scary and I cried and cried!" My mom is really mad at herself - she backed into a small tree and dented up her van! Everyone is ok but I guess it was pretty exciting for the kids. Emma was even telling the dog about it!
Thankfully everyone was o.k.!

Mine was fond of "pull my finger." :scared: I was always grossed out, and at the same time secretly amazed that he could fart on command. My great-grandpa used to chew tobacco and instead of spitting in a cup or wherever, he would put it in the cuff of his pants! I never understood why Granny Lou let him get away with that.

The pull my finger was my dad and all my uncles (his brother's) must have been a family thing! I have to admit, we were also amazed he could fart at the pull of his finger.:confused3  Spit in the cuff of his pants!:scared1: My dad used to chew when we were kids, and he'd leave his nasty, smelly, spit filled cups and cans everywhere!

This talk about farting and grandparents reminded me of something my grandfather (god rest his crazy soul) used to say when we were kids. Every time he would FART instead of saying excuse me, he would say...."Better out than in"!  He had other memorable sayings, but we'll stop with that one!;)
 I bet you have some good ones!!

to be honest, I don't think a lot of people DO understand most of those things you mentioned! I do a lot of the paperwork here in the office and let me tell ya:sad2: most of us w/any experience start at around 50k and they cant even fill out a direct deposit form correctly! I end up doing it all for them. Many times on the life ins. forms they put themselves as the beneficiary...I've heard of taking it w/you...but...come on:laughing: or they only put one beneficiary...so I call and explain that heaven forbid that something happened to both of you at the same time, you'd want these funds to go to SOMEONE else! Our co. gives the family 10k if an employee passes away. Plus our life ins. through the co. is pretty cheap. Its crazy!

Oh no..you're poor mom... Glad everyone is ok..now the poor dog:laughing: that's cute!!

"pull my finger" Mike used to do that to Kenny:rolleyes1

Well I'm off to pick Britt and her friend up and take them to tryouts. Cross your fingers....and toes!

I hope she makes it for the sake of our wallet. She wants to do this competitive cheer if she doesn't make it. It costs something like $325 for the uniform, 30 registration, and $250 every other month!:scared1: I need a fainting smilie, but don't have time to hunt it down.:rolleyes1

If I don't chat with some of you later, have a great weekend!

GOOD LUCK!!! definitely for the sake of your wallet too:scared1: You have a great weekend too!!

Lyzziesmom - that is most certainly a PERFECT example(s) of why to get an edumacation.

Love Grandparent stories. But why do they seem to think traumatic things are humorous? My GP lived in NY state, and was this little (probably drunk) Irish man. One year, when I was 3, we flew out for a visit. I remember (vividly) getting out of the car, and he came up to me and popped out his teeth. I ran screaming behind my mom.
My own dad, who has a prosthetic eye, used to be able to take it out when he first got it. He always thought it was fun to take it out and put it in his hand - cover it up, then uncover it. Course I was somewhere between 10 - 12 at the time so it didn't bother me, but can you imagine the emotional trauma to a young kid?
Old men can fart on command cuz their always full of hot air!

Fingers and toes crossed!! Good Luck, Britt!!

My little old drunk Norwegian grandpa did the same thing with his teeth!! And Lyzzie's grandpa plays with them in his mouth, popping the bottom ones up with his tongue and flipping them around and popping them back in. It's really gross!! I don't know if he's even aware he's doing it, but I used to be so afraid it would freak Lyzzie out. And his mother, Lyzzie's great-grandma, had this HUGE wart on her lip, I mean it was the size of a large shooter marble and just hung there on her top lip, quivering around when she talked. She would come up and kiss Lyzzie all over with that damn thing squishing against her little face... ew! That thing with your dad's eyeball would certainly freak me out, even at this age!

hate it when they have to mess with their teeth... it's just gross!

Dad hasn't been able to do the eyeball thing for MANY years, which is fortunate, otherwise I'd have been paying thousands of dollars for therapy for Erin.

Hi, I'm not in a clique. Apparently this has become one. Are you accepting new members?

Hi Jelly1! Welcome to our non-cliquey cliqueless clique! Feel free to click here anytime you want - I'm sure you'll click with the rest of us. (Well that was fun!) What I'm trying to say is... New members are always welcome!!

So I brought my book to work today and have been reading in spurts this afternoon. It's a very quiet Friday, most of the office is out and the phone's not ringing. Do you ever get that "unreal" feeling when you're nose-deep in a good book? When the phone rings and I surface, it takes me a minute to get my bearings and shake the surreal feeling out of my head. Is it just me? My mom says that when I was a kid, she could always tell what I was reading by how I talked. I would unconciously mimic the characters in the book I was currently reading. She says she hated certain books because I would become very snotty!

You reminded me that I need to get Shopaholic and Baby to read on my trip. Have you read The Undomestic Goddess yet? I loved it!!! I know this is a teen series but you might want to check out the Gossip Girl series if you haven't already. It's really good and the TV show is pretty good too.

I had a nightmare last night about riding POTC. :scared1: So needless to say, I won't be riding it this trip!

I loved Undomestic Goddess; hope it becomes a series. I also really enjoyed Can You Keep a Secret. In fact, I love all of her books! Shopaholic and Baby is great!

OH!!!

And Colton is going to the other place today.....Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

He has an appointment at 2:15.

I called the insurance place and told them that he was not happy with his cast and could he go somewhere else.....they said yes.

That is great news!

Why do people feel the need to pass stinky farts in the elevator????
eewwwwww........ :crazy2:

Question for ya'll: I've been thinking of what to do for Erin's 18th B-day... I think I've decided a spa day for her b-day present. what do you think?

Great Idea!!!!

Beware.....

I just got back from working at school and I am so upset. I don't understand how some parents just don't give a crap about theirs kids or too busy to notice. Every week the kids get a reading log to fill out with what they read and how many minutes they read. I go in on Fridays and go over the logs with the kids. They read some of their book to me, I ask them questions about the book, they discuss what they read. If they bring this log in to me signed and with 80-100 minutes of reading time, they get a prize. Well this poor kid never has his log or a book. He talks about reading the same 2 books week after week but never can tell me anything about them. He tells me every week that his mom lost it or forgot to fill it in and sign it. Today he did the same thing, so I had him go back into the classroom and bring out his reading group book to read to me and then we talked about the book. It's obvious he is struggling with reading, and it breaks my heart every week to tell him he can't get a prize because he doesn't have his log. I praised this kid up and down about how wonderful it was to finally have him read to me, and told him that I can't wait to hear him read to me again next week. You would have thought he died and went to heaven.:sad1: I talked to the teacher and she said she has called the parents several times and still nothing.:sad2: So now I have set up with the teacher that I will come in a few times a week so he can read to me and I will fill out his log. I just don't get some parents.:sad1:

Sorry...rant over!:guilty:

That is so wonderful of you! I bet that means the world to that little boy!

I've been well!! But I've been hobbling around quite a bit due to a swollen, twisted knee and heel spurs, on the same leg! But other than that I am GREAT!

Do you watch Survivor?

Oh no! My dh has the spurs too...:guilty: I know those can really be painful! They gave him orthotics to help, and shots...but nothing helps 100%. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
