Who here is not in the "clique" like me? Part 3

I am so frustrated. Mike found out that a competeing company has an opening. They pay a lot more (almost double) and he expressed interest in working there.

Well, today he gets a call from a curent coworker (and friend). That guy interviewed for the position. Now, Mike doesn't want to even apply, because he thinks that a.) if they were interested in him they would pursue him and b.) he doesn't want to take the job away from his friend.

I understand the friend reason, but to me, Mike has to think of himself first. It's not like his friend is hurting for money (his wife makes a lot, plus just got a raise). Mike has been at his current company for 6 years and doesn't make much more than when he started. He also hates his current company and has been wanting to quit. The extra money could really help us (that is if he even got the job).

He doesn't even want to try know. He got mad at me when I questioned him. He often doesn't think he's good/smart enough for a promotion and he hates putting himself out there. I think he's afraid of getting rejected by the company.

I just can't understand why he won't at least try.

Mike sounds a little like me. I know I need a new job, I know I could get a new job, but I'm too afraid to apply because even though I'm not happy where I am I feel comfortable and safe here. Why is life so challenging.?

The other guy wouldn't need to know that Mike applied after him...for all he wold know Mikes application had already been submitted...:confused3

Hi Everyone. April was able to stay until Saturday. They have to move from Old Key West on Thursday to Saratoga for the remainder but who wouldn't move for a few extra days at disney.:confused3

On Saturday we were able to meet a member of the dream squad named Brandon. Unfortunately we didn't receive anything but he did tell us that if we send in a postcard daily, they do mail out prizes. I looked up the information here on the dis and found this address. I thought I would post it in case anyone is interested in giving it a shot.

You need to provide your full name, complete mailing address, daytime phone number, and date of birth on a 3.5x5 postcard.
The address is:
PO Box 8629
Elmhurst, IL 60126

Good luck:wizard:
Thanks for the tip! That lucky girl!

Hi everyone!!

I got back in yesterday at about 4:30. I was so exhausted I went to bed early! The trip was fun- I'm glad I got to go. I did end up staying at French Quarter so it was very convienent.

Last night we had a scare because Ruby got in my carry on and ate a whole big piece of fudge I got myself from the Mainstreet Bakery. We called the vet and they said it shouldn't be that big of a deal because it isn't 100% chocolate. We had to give her some hydrogen perioxide to make her throw up, which she didn't do at first but then did a couple hours later and the vet was very happy to hear she got it out of her system! Needless to say, that wasn't a very good welcome home and I'm very relieved she is doing better!

It snowed last night and is very cold here!!! I thought it was cold in Disney- now I'm wishing our weather was like that here!!

Lyzziesmom- I didn't get any of your photopass pictures..but I would like to see the ones you have of mine! ;) If you don't have my email, let me know and I'll PM it to ya. I hope Emma is feeling better tonight- she was so adorable on the trip I just wanted to eat her up!! :cloud9:

That Ruby! She gets into it all! Good to hear she is doing alright!

Oh, and sweetie, they frown on cannibalism here in the states...hehehe.

Well, I'm off to go sleepy.

Disney Store heads up, 39.00 Snowglobe and 40% Valentines promotion currently, and starting tomorrow you get a free Valentines necklace with a purchase of, I think, 40.00...but I could be wrong on the amount.

Good morning, Crew!! How about a selection of breads and pastries this morning? I think I spied some juice and fruit as well. Grab a plate and let's dig in!!!

I hope everyone has a Thoroughly Fantastic Thursday!!!:sunny:

I'm happy to see that Ashley and 2xcited2slp made it home safely.:goodvibes

Ashley:: I'm sorry to hear about the stressful time with Ruby, but glad she is OK now!!
I enjoyed meeting your Mom at Ohana....tell her I said "Hi"!!

2x2s:: Thanks for checking in to let us know you made it home safely!!! I was waving goodbye to the sunshine as the ME bus pulled away from WDW. That's cool that the weather improved I had a terrific time despite the chill!!
Good luck with your treatments and work. Check in when you can!!

Well, I need to get a move on to get myself ready for work. Have a great day everyone!!!:wave2:

Good morning all!

Sounds like everyone who went on the trip had a great time! :cool1:

Woke up to thick fog this morning. And a little snow. The good thing about this cold weather is that I've been painting and redecorating the inside of my house -- since we're kind of stuck inside. Let's see, I've repainted the dining room, bought a new table and chairs, bought new furniture for the living room, painted the entryway, painted the basement, bouth a new couch for the basement, etc.... At least it has kept me busy. I told my husband if we would move to someplace warmer it would probably save him a lot of money:lmao:

Oh, and I booked our WDW trip-- 7 night Western cruise and 6 days at the world in December. So, now I'm in planning mode-- driving my family crazy ;) Anyway, we've never been on a Disney cruise nor have we seen Disney with all the holiday decorations up so it should be fun! My son goes to year round school and he's off track from Thanksgiving to New Year's so we're going the first of December and will hopefully avoid the crowds!

Well, I'd better go feed my child and get him to school. Have a great day all!

Good Morning!

Thanks for breakfast Donna!

Ashley and 2X- Welcome back! I can't wait to hear everything that happened!

Steven is so sweet, surprising April with a few extra days in the world!

Yolanda- Wow, you sure have been very busy decorating!

Lyzziesmom- I hope Emma is feeling better!

Amber- Hopefully Mike will get the confidence to apply for the job!

Pozey- That is great Courtney is feeling better!

Have a great day!

Don't look for April any time soon. Steven surprised her, I think, and extended their stay at OKW. Lucky them...it looks like the weather has definintely changed for the better there.

Hi Everyone. April was able to stay until Saturday. They have to move from Old Key West on Thursday to Saratoga for the remainder but who wouldn't move for a few extra days at disney.:confused3

I was wondering where April was! I got a voicemail from her on Tuesday morning saying she wasn't coming to breakfast because she had a long drive in front of her - of course the voicemail didn't come through until AFTER I'd had breakfast! I guess Steven must have sprung the surprise on her at the last minute - how sweet!! And how fun for her! I feel like the trip was way too short and I am already trying to plot how and when I can get back again.

Ashley: poor Ruby! I'm glad she's ok, but that is too bad about your fudge! I remember when you bought it, wasn't that when I was getting Lyzzie's taffy? PM me with your email address and I will send you the link for the PhotoPass pictures. I'd like to see yours too!

Mike sounds a little like me. I know I need a new job, I know I could get a new job, but I'm too afraid to apply because even though I'm not happy where I am I feel comfortable and safe here. Why is life so challenging.?

I feel the same way about my job. I'm really not loving it, but they're paying me decent money and the people are nice so I feel like I don't really NEED to take a chance. I mean, what if I leave and go somewhere else, and I hate it even more?? I am awful about making life-changing decisions, I always seem to make the wrong one.

2x: Glad to see you made it home safely! I bet that extra day was just what you needed. Did you happen to run into April by any chance?? I see you got to enjoy some of the nicer weather, lucky you!!

Well I'm off to finish my taxes and get that sent in, so the little bit I'm getting back can get on its way here already. Wish me luck!!

Have a good night!!

oh, and YM----the airline check-in guy at POFQ didn't ask me for TWO DOLLAS.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well...I guess you didn't kick the cute man sitting next to you on the airplane either....or ask what country that was with the lovely view? :rotfl2: Well...what about SNACK CREDIT?:lmao:

Glad to hear the weather was shaping up for you!

Ashley...sorry to hear about Ruby. Sophie had a "mickey" soap chewed up before I even knew my suitcase was open.:sad2: I too enjoyed having your mom join us for dinner! What a nice treat.

Lesa...you mean those pipes weren't fixed when you got home.:rolleyes1 I'm seeing you with a drill. Hope you were able to get a shower...to bad it meant you might have to work out too. How's the knee feeling?

Michele...are you getting rested up? Next trip we will add to our smilie dances...just didn't have time to practice them all.:rolleyes1

Yolanda...you booked your Disney vacation!:woohoo: It sounds wonderful. I sure wish you could come hang out at my place...we need new paint and furniture!

Pozey...I'm guilty! I think that cold front moved through as soon as we landed. Brrr it's cold and windy this am. Sorry to hear about Courtney's coughing. My DS is home today.

Amber...maybe we can ride together on a plane someday. I met so many nice people (in additition to the cliqueless crew) on the planes. Thank goodness he was a "cool" dude! I almsot missed my connection in Dallas on the way down and was so flustered when I made it to the plane. There was a lady in my seat and she kindly moved and we ended up chatting all the way day. I think she had about 5 houses all over the US!

I guess DS is wanting my attention now so I will check back in a bit. Hi DznyFan, Lin, Nicole, Angela, Donna (thanks for the yummy breakfast):)

lyzziesmom...is Emma feeling better today?

Emma is not feeling any better today. Last night she was rubbing her blankie on her ear but she said it didn't hurt, so I'm not sure what to make of that. My thermometer not only has a dead battery, but it has also gone missing. She was burning up this morning, even her belly felt hot. My mom just called and said she has perked up a little bit, but I think that might be due to the Tylenol I gave her - I don't see playing on the floor for 10 minutes as much of an improvement. I hope she feels better and starts eating soon, and doesn't pass it around to the rest of the family!

Tell Mike that he needs to quickly put together a pro/con list of things about his company versus the competing company. If the pros outweigh the cons in the competing company’s favor, then he needs to go ahead and consider applying. Things to consider are benefits, company stability, advancement opportunities, and of course salary.

Fear of rejection can be strong when it comes to interviewing, however that should be overcome when it comes to wanting to upgrade your job. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Friendships should not factor at all when considering bettering your job and your family.

Thanks for that information!! :thumbsup2

Donna: Breakfast looks Devinne! I have a request for Tonga toast for tomorrow. :rolleyes1 That was so yummy!!:)

Amber: No advice for your dh's job situation. Sounds like a tough call!

2x: Glad you made it home o.k.! Vacations never last long enough! I'm glad your last two days were sunny. Good luck with your treatment today. We'll be thinking of you!

Ashley:I'm glad Ruby is fine. Not such a great welcome home!:scared:

YM: Sophie and she Mickey soap, dogs will eat anything! The banana dance smilie in your honor! :rotfl2: People in line with us for Soarin must have though we were all nuts talking about the tag fairy and doing banana dances!! April's invisible key board cracked me up! I hope you ds is feeling better!:wizard:

April: You lucky duck! Hope your having a great time!!!

Linda: Your Kenny is such a hoot!:lmao: I agree, he is everything you say and much more. :rotfl2: The passing gas story had us rolling!:rotfl2: :lmao: Hope you had a great time on your cruise and the weather cooperated for you!

Yolanda: Could I hire you to come paint my house?:rolleyes1 Congratulations on booking your trip!:dance3:

Belle041281: Thanks for the address! Dream Squad, Brandon really irked me. Asking if we had seen anyone from the Dream Squad and then announcing that he was one and not giving us anything!!! It was like he kept setting us up and then still nothing!

Michele: Sorry your tired! I was so mad, I found out that the airport threw my BE lip gloss away. I had forgot it was in my little purse it didn't get put in my little zip baggie with everything else!!!

Well I got hot water back in the shower yesterday afternoon. I think it was from the 20 holes I drilled in the closet wall!:rolleyes1 DH called our lawyer to find out what steps we should take with the contractor. I laid in Maddie's bed this morning, I may as well have been laying out of the porch, it was freezing air. I told her she is going to have to move in with Brittany until we can figure things out.

Well I still have lots of laundry to catch up on! :laundy: Talk to you chicks a bit later!

Lesa: That's great that you have hot water again, but poor Madison, having to move in with her sister. Oh, the horror!! Sounds like I missed a lot of fun in the Soarin' line... I can't believe they won't let strollers anywhere in the building! Grrrrr. Oh well, it was better than trying to wake up a sleeping Emma!

I just got my taxes filed... I hope I did them right! I'm getting back a little bit more than I thought I would, but it's still 1/2 of what it was last year which I'm not too happy about. But I can't complain, it's better than nothing - or having to pay!

Girl, you have been busy! Want to come work on my house?:rolleyes1
How do you feel about adopting a 25 year old daughter when you go on your trip. I'd be no trouble at all! Hehehe. You lucky girl!

So....now that almost everyone is back from the convention, when is the 2008 Cliqueless Convention going to be??? :teeth:

Hmmm...I want to go on a cruise!

Emma is not feeling any better today. Last night she was rubbing her blankie on her ear but she said it didn't hurt, so I'm not sure what to make of that. My thermometer not only has a dead battery, but it has also gone missing. She was burning up this morning, even her belly felt hot. Poor little miss Emma! I hope she feels better soon!

Its official, I'm hooked on the Stephanie Plum books...I finished the second one in 4 days and am about to start the third. I love how she dated the books by describing the fashion!!! Biker shorts! Mwah-ha-ha-ha.

I'm off to make some lunch. Lyzziesmom, did you get my pm? Did it make any sense?

Nicole, I was just watching Martha Stewart and they made the CUTEST red-velvet heart cakes that looked like the little conversation heart candies. They are on her website!

Lin: Aren't the Plum books great? (biker shorts indeed!) I zipped right through them and can't wait for the next one to come out. I got your PM and it makes sense, but it looks like a lot of work!!

Well it seems that Emma is starting to feel a little bit better. I guess maybe the change in climate and schedule was too much for her. Poor thing, WDW wiped her out!

Lyzziesmom- Yep, its the Rocky Road fudge I got Monday night!! (my last snack credit!!!) I didn't even get ONE piece--- Can you believe that??!!! That Ruby is such a hog!! She sure gave me a scare, I'm just glad she is ok.

DznyFan: Did Erin catch John Tartaglia on CNBC last night? I was flipping through and they were doing a show about the success of the Disney channel, and they had him on and then they had the Wiggles on... and then I fell asleep. I don't know if they replay those things or if it would be up on the website - I don't usually watch CNBC but just happened across it and stopped. It was really neat!
