I bought our Aps over the phone the day before the price increase and we received plastic cards that look exactly like annual passes without the picture.

I called immediately and was told that these were indeed vouchers and were to be exchanged when we got there(in Oct) but somehow I still don't feel right and I don't want to find out when we get there that ooops, you have regular annual passes not vouchers. They say that they expire June xx, 2012.

We did not order renewals nor were we eligible for renewals because our last APs expired in 2009.

So, I'm just wondering if anyone else here has ordered AP vouchers and received plastic cards with the characters on the front or something different??:confused3

We bought annual passes the day before the price increase as well. We bought them online and they emailed us tickets that we can print off and take right to the gate. It is my understanding that my year starts on the first day we enter the park next month.

Have no idea what it is you have but Disney no longer puts pictures on the passes. Your picture shows up on the video screens at the gate as you go through.

Do they have pass numbers on them? If so, you can enter that number into Disneylands.com AP member page and it will show the expiration date for the AP.

I just renewed my pass yesterday. It sounds like you may have a pass. The front says "Disneyland annual Passport" and pictures Mickey, Goofy and Donald. On the back it says the type of pass, passholder name, then "Valid Thru: date". The new passes also have a PhotoPass ID number on them at the bottom right corner. Hope you get it figured out. Have a great trip in October!

Yup, its the blue plastic card with the characters on the front. Looks exactly like the annual pass we had a few years ago but without our picture on the back. It has the barcode and number on the back as well as the Photopass id number.

If I put the number in on the AP website will that activate it? I was afraid of activating my pass if indeed it's not yet activated.

Will it show if it's activated or not?

If I understand correctly, the code will not work on the website until it is activated so if you put the code in and it works, it sounds like yours is already activated.

I was interested in buying the voucher so that I could get discounts. Some helpful people here told me that would work, but that I would have to call the hotel directly because my voucher would not be active to check for discounts online.

I just logged into my account and entered my ap # and it worked so I assumed that I have an activated pass.

I called Disneyland AP center and explained everything and the CM said that it is an actual activated pass but I have not made my first visit yet so when I do I will need to visit the ticket booth to receive my new card with the new exp. date.

She also said that they don't issue vouchers when you purchase over the phone, that this was what you got and it worked the same as a voucher. There was a note added in my account that we talked and that this was going to convert to my new pass upon my first visit.

I feel like I"ve gone over this and over this so many times but I havent' had a good feeling about these passes since I bought them and I just want to make sure that what I've been told is the correct information. Apparently it is since I've made 2 calls now and both CMs have told the exact same info.

Thanks for the help guys!

I should have done what you did and bought my AP over the phone! I bought mine online and printed out a voucher which I used at the gate. However, the voucher expires 12/31/2011, and it sounds like the plastic card you received doesn't expire until June 2012.

There was some annoyance about these online vouchers at the time because folks were told that they would expire one year from the purchase date, when it fact they expire at the end of this calendar year. A big difference for someone buying in advance for sometime next year!

Sounds like you have figured it all out with your phone calls and have nothing to worry about :thumbsup2!

Well, lets hope that it's all figured out.

The reason I bought them over the phone was because I had $450 in Disney Reward Dollars that I wanted to use towards our APs and you couldn't do that online. There is no place to enter your Reward Dollars.

Don't you wish that they would email you the information that they're telling you on the phone? I would be concerned, too. However, since 2 people told you the same thing, I would think that you are fine - but I would still want it in writing!

Okay. Now I'm freaked out. I bought mine online and it was a paper voucher. I didn't get any blue card and my understanding is that it will be good for a year once I take it to DL the first time and activiate it. So if I go on Aug 1, it will expire Aug 1 2012. right? I hope. I tried activiting for membership services and was told that I couldn't until I activiated it.

This is all correct and standard. No need to worry.

What you got is good. Its the standard that normally everyone gets which is why I've been so freaked out getting the card. That means to me I have an active pass, which I don't want, since I'm not going until Oct. I want mine to be valid Oct-Oct.

But another difference is I ordered mine over the phone. I wish I could have done it online but I needed to use $450 in Disney Visa Rewards and they don't allow you to use those online. There was no spot to enter you rewards card #:confused3

I actually think that maybe someone messed up and sent me the cards and they weren't supposed to so instead of sending my paper printouts they've just put it on my account that my cards are to be considered vouchers. Who knows at this point???? I just want it to be right when I get there.
