Who has vacationed in Myrtle Beach, SC?

We live in Pawleys Island, about 20 minutes south of Myrtle. I’d recommend you look at Pawleys Island or Litchfield Beach. Our beaches are pristine, and the seafood in Murrells Inlet is the best in the region.

We were hunting for Pawleys Island Tavern on recommendation and couldn't find it back in the woods. So we just ate at one of the places out along the road and had the best fried shrimp I ever had. At the time a good 8 years ago it was Pawleys Island Cafe and Deli and appears now to be the Rustic Table. So far it was the best meal I've had in the Grand Strand.

I've been to MB twice as a kid where we went to Ocean City, MD every year growing up but mom mentioned trying somewhere else so we went to MB when I was 15 and 16 (my last vacation with my parents.) I took my own family twice when I was married.

It's touristy, not the cleanest looking (much cleaner than Ocean City), but I wouldn't say nothing but crime as another poster stated. The crime and violence is usually during Spring break and Black Biker Week. We loved Myrtle Beach and that's coming from high level live in the middle of nowhere redneck introverts.

We had to go, back in 2017, for my DDs' to play in softball tourney. It was....um...eye opening. Many many other nicer beaches on the east coast. Myrtle is much like VA Beach and OC, MD.

Haven't been there in years, but it was an annual vacation to meet up with my friends (about 1/2 way from them in NJ and me in FL). We'd rent a condo for a week and spent everyday on the beach and nights at Hard Rock pyramid, etc.

We went there a lot growing up since it's only 3 hours away for us. It was a cheap vacation. I haven't been to Myrtle in close to 20 years. We go to other beaches in SC now. I would rather stay home that deal with dirty Myrtle.

We went in 2019 and will probably never go back. It was astonishing the amount of stuff people left behind on the beach. We could have started our own plastic bucket store with the amount of buckets and accessories left behind.

We went into the main Myrtle Beach area twice. Once when we got there in the early afternoon and then made the mistake of going in the evening.

North Myrtle Beach area was better but still so many things left behind.

All these mentions of crime and dirty beaches, I never saw any of that when I went. Then again I went in the off season. It when I usually take my vacations is off season.
