If anyone has used Netgrocer, can you tell me about it? Was your order delivered on time? How do they handle "cold items", etc. How far out did you order? Stuff like that.

Thanks!!

We have used it many times. first of all, they do not deliver perishables. We stop on the way to WDW to buy our cold and frozen items at the grocery store. I find by using NG the time shopping is at a minimum. Bring a list and send each person from your group for a few items. On the NG website there is a chart to follow as to delivery days. I usually pick a day or 2 earlier than our arrival. Make sure you put your arrival date with the address of the resort you are staying at. The only problem I had was when ordering bread etc., The Eng. muffins arrived with mold on them. So now we get the bread at the store.

We are going to BWV for 10 days starting on Tuesday, July 15th. I ordered for the third time, from netgrocer. We put the order in exactly one week before. The delivery date they said would be July 14th.

We also pack a soft cooler of frozen meat and cold cuts, check it under the plane, and it is still frozen solid when we get to the resort. We bring hot dogs, our own cold cuts from long island (boars head). my own homemade meatballs, chicken, and chopped meat for sloppy joes. We also did this two times and it worked great, we use a soft cooler and don't even need to add ice or blue ice or anything like that, since it is all frozen it stays until we get there.

We ordered about $150 worth of stuff from Netgrocer, and would stop for bread, milk, soda, water, at the grocery store if we took a town car. Or we would make a trip if we rented a car or van. I was thinking about buying the meat in florida, but after thinking about how great it was to have our own meat we are used to, I decided to do it again for the third time. Make sure you bring zip lock bags with your spices and stuff that you need as well, coffee, filters, laundry tabs, and dishwasher tabs, so you don't have to buy a whole box, I buy those at home and bring one tablet for the dishwasher and the washing machine for each day, once again, in a zip lock bag, in my luggage.

Every single idea from netgrocer, to the spices, to the cooler of meat under the plane was from these message boards, you learn so much!

We had the opposite opinion of Netgrocer, so I might as well chime in for the other side. Specifically, what we didn't like was:
  • We had to spend a couple of hours "shopping" on their website, even though we had made a list ahead of time. Disclaimer: We had a dialup Internet connection at the time, and a lot of that time was spent watching thumbnails of corn flakes, mac and cheese, etc. load.
  • We bought way more than we should have. When you have a virtual shopping cart it's tough to gauge how much you're buying. So you had better be disciplined, and I guess we weren't.
  • We had to go grocery shopping in Orlando anyway, since Netgrocer doesn't sell anything perishable. So it didn't seem to save us any appreciable time.
So that was our experience. Obviously not everybody agrees with us, but we don't use them any more. It wasn't terrible by any means, but it didn't seem worth the bother.

Placed a netgrocer order today. I'll make a list of milk. half / half, soda, to be picked up at a convenience store on your way to WDW. I like netgrocer ... I can pick the foods for us for most of the week.... I've learned NOT to overbuy like I did a couple of times (same too for the grocery store on vacation).... I created our "list" over the course of a couple of days.

Not planning on doing any real cooking, but easy mac or tuna sandwiches one night are in our plan!

I don't find the prices to be much more expensive, and shipping is reasonable ... the grocery store with 4 people adding things to the cart ... now that's expensive!

You have an option on NG to save your shopping lists. You can date them. I find this an easy way of ordering what I really used the trip before. When we went in Jan there was 8 of us, instead of our usual 4. I went over my lists from prior orders with my friend and we choose our items from them. I find I no longer buy what I don't need or use. Well, most of the time:smooth:

But apparently they are very busy!

Another question...is there a minimum amount you have to order?

I'll be very honest. I'm one of those who doesn't do much in the kitchen on vacation ;) But I do like keeping stuff to "eat on the run" available.

So I can't see myself making a "very large" order. But I definately do have stuff I would just love to have there before I get there.

How does the price compare with having DVC deliver to the room?

We used the on our trip this May, we're in the UK and didn't want to pack 2 weeks supply of diapers/babyfood etc.

Ok firstly I emailed them to check that we could order from the UK and have it delivered to WDW, but got back a standard reply that didn't answer my question at all, but dealt with how to ship to the UK, when I emailed them back asking them to answer the original question, I got back a VERY snotty reply saying that they had responded. So I never did get an answer to my question but seeked the info I needed on this very helpful board.

Secondly it's a miracle and really only down to the postal service and Disney's efficiency that we received our order at all as the package wasn't labelled properly by them. When ordering I made sure that the address was clearly and correctly entered as I was paranoid about being in another country with no diapers! I also (as advised on the board) requested that they put our booking reference on the package, and had included it in the first line of the address.

Netgrocer failed to even print the full address on the package, it purely said "Disney's Beach Club Villas, Florida". I would gratiously admit if I had made a mistake but am 100% certain that I didn't, the reservation number wasn't on it at all. It took the staff at BCV a long time to find our package but I'm very grateful that they did.

The actual order was fine though, the site was easy to use and we were sent a mail telling us when our package would be dispatched.

Not overly impressed I'm afraid.

I can tell you that the prices of groceries purchased via the DVC "grocery list" are considerably higher than what you would get from Netgrocer. I've just begun checking NG out.

But I did use the "In Room Order List" offered by DVC once and aside the fact that the groceries were expensive, they were never delivered to my room. I had to call downstairs and give them the order again, once I arrived.

I mean, I'll go to the store on the boardwalk if I run out of milk lets say. But I definately will not buy stuff like soda's there. Anything that can be "priced" at will I will not buy. But things like Entenmann's that already has a price printed on the box/bag are fine. You pay that price regardless of where you are! But $5 for a six pack of soda is a bit much.

I am not aware of a minimum order. I usually order about $50 including shipping.

That doesn't sound bad at all. I guess I'm going to have to start making out my "grocery list".

And since I won't be getting any perishables, I don't need to pack my softsided cooler! :)
