Our flight does not get into Orlando until 9:00 pm on a Wednesday. We are using Magical Express (just my daughter and I) and staying at the Beach Club. I am worried that our luggage won't arrive until the middle of the night! I am prepared to pack a carryon of essentials we'll need for the night, but when do you think our luggage will get there? Anyone had experience with this?

My dh and dd will be arriving at MCO around 10:15 pm and using DME, but I will have already taken their stuff with me when I fly down 2 days beforehand. So, that's not an issue for them. What I would suggest is to have a carryon with what you need for the night, like you said you were doing. Then, when you check-in, let them know that you don't want your bags brought to you that night. Tell them to deliver them in the morning. Then, I would let the Bell Services know this also. Hang that good ole 'Do not disturb' sign on the door and hopefully it will all work out.
Or, you could just not put the tags on your bags, claim them yourself when you get to MCO and take them on the bus with you to the resort.

9:00pm really isn't that late. Lots of flights don't even take off until after that time.

Why don't you just claim your own bags and take them on the bus with you--that way you'll have them as soon as you arrive. Sounds like a good solution...

We had a 9:00 pm arrival at MCO in October and I did what Anne suggested and I am glad I did. Although 9:30 isn't that late there seem to be fewer ME buses running than others have reported and stopping at more resorts. It took a long time and we didn't arrive at AKL until well after midnight.

Since I was the solo adult with my two young dd's I found it easier to check my bags through without the yellow ME tags, retreive them from the carosel myself and bring them on the ME bus. The driver happlily loaded them underneath and I did not have to wait for a middle of the night luggage delivery. I did tip the ME driver for his assistance.

For me getting the luggage was easier than bringing an extry carryon with one nights essentials. Otherwise you can ask the resort to hold your luggage until the morning.

On Thursday with a 3:15pm arrival I intend to use ME as intended and take advantage of the luggage delivery. I am staying at BWV so I will report back next week.

I didn't realize I could take my luggage with me. That is definitely what I will do since we will probably only have one large bag plus the two carryons anyway. You didn't get to AKL until midnight? Yikes, that is awful!

I thought i read somewhere ME stops at 10pm. I really hope im wrong. Because i want to come in as late as possible on my arrival date so i dont have to take a whole day off of work. What time do they stop at night? Or do they? :confused3

Thanks!
:cheer2:

The other side of the issue. Buses may not run as often later at night. By picking up your luggage you may have just missed the earlier bus and wound up waiting an extra 30-60 minutes for the next bus.

The carryon sized roller bags have more than enough space for whatever you'll need for your first night and even the next morning.

I'd use the tags at night, particularly if my airline is in the opposite side of the airport as DME. Right now SW is right above the DME desk but that will change when DME moves to the other side of MCO.

DME extends the hours to meet all incoming flights that include guests with a DME reservation. There were a few posters who indicated very late guests were transported via taxi. The DME desk may be closed but you'll be transported. If you have a late flight make sure Disney has your flight information, they monitor the flight arrivals.

A few months ago I was on a very delayed flight that got in well after midnight and the DME greeters were still in the terminal waiting for people.

Anything can cause you to "just miss the bus" a headwind, a delay in departure, a delay getting off the aircraft or even a bathroom stop. That still wouldn't stop me from a bathroom stop or getting my own luggage if that worked best for me, you can't worry about that stuff.

I do know for a fact that in my situation getting my luggage did not cause me to have just missed a bus to AKL.

I can't advise anyone as to what they should do or what is best but I can repeat my experience and my reasons for doing what I did.

I am going to use the luggage delivery feature of ME on Thursday and look forward to the convenience. However under other circumstances I like the option to retreive my luggage if that works better.

If you choose not to pick up your luggage I would make sure to not only have your night time needs packed for but to also pack the stuff you will need in the morning to get dressed and off to your day. I was reading someone else's trip repot and they had a late arrival (about the same time as yours) and did not receive their bags until after lunch the next day. It would be worth planning ahead to not be stuck without clean clothes in the morning.

We have a 11:30 pm arrival scheduled on May 3 and I had no trouble booking ME. I'm not sure we'll stick with it though...the main thing we wanted was the ability to just check our bags and not worry about them anymore, so when nwa was added we decided to use ME. However, we always rent a car, so DH would be getting the car while DS and I take the bus and get us checked in. Now we're debating whether or not the convenience of not hauling luggage to and from the rental cars is worth it. I have to spend a little time doing some research on that I guess.

But I had no problem scheduling such a late arrival.

I arrived very late 2 am at Mco during my feb 2006 trip... ME was stiull running and I just lugged my suitcase with me so as not to have to worry about it... ;)
