Hi all,
We didn't really have intentions of going to Disney this year, but... with the free dining coming up, I had to look into it.
We went last June and stayed at the Poly. Yes, we splurged! We have two young girls and was wondering about the CBR. It seems everyone's favorite moderate is the CSR, but this seems already booked for the free dining time frame.
Has anyone stayed at the CBR? Where is it?
I look to trip advisor a lot, and it doesn't give it great reviews. It also seems to be a resort that not a lot of you discuss on the boards.
LEt me know, thanks!!

Hi!

We spent 8 nights at CBR last May & loved it!!
It's located next to POP Century.

It is a lovely place.
We'd be going back there next month if we hadn't joined DVC.

Any questions??
Fire away!! :)

I've stayed at all three resorts that you just mentioned, and I'll be heading to CBR this coming Sunday! YAY!

Personally, my family loves it there. We like CSR a teensy bit better, but CBR is definitely a wonderful resort. It's located closest to Epcot (It's literally right across the street from the back of World Showcase.), and you can actually see and hear Illuminations from several spots on the resort's property.

CBR's rooms are 340 square feet, almost as big or equal to most deluxe size rooms. Trust me, you'll definitely love the extra space. :woohoo: Also, the property at CBR is very spread out like CSR, giving it a peaceful, tranquil feel because the guests aren't all up in each other's business.

Also like CSR, it has a main pool and (IIRC) a quiet pool for each of it's different sections. Considering there are seven different sections (or Carribbean "islands"), there are a total of EIGHT pools. Needless to say, I've never seen a crowded pool (except for the main pool a couple of times) at CBR.

Like the Poly, CBR has a couple beaches with hammocks so that you can relax and watch the sunset, and there is a lovely little playground that I've seen kids having a ball on. As for the food court, my family actually prefers it to the Pepper Market at CSR, and the gift shop is also really nice.

So basically, if you enjoyed CSR, I'm sure you'll love the CBR as well. :thumbsup2

Does the CBR have a hot tub?? We usually stay at POR but I have always stayed there and am thinking of branching out and trying another resort. As pp stated CBR is sold out already for free dining so its either CSR or POFQ, which I have been to a ton of times.

TIA
Beth

We have stayed at Poly, Contemporary Tower, Contemporary Garden Wing, WL, POFQ, CBR, All Star Music....CBR became our favorite resort. For the price, location, having own quiet pool, main pool, food court, shopping, own bus transportation, transportation within the resort, own marina, rooms larger, themeing, landscaping, etc..... CBR wins hands down!!

I wouldn't agree that CSR is everyone's favorite moderate.

We love POFQ with POR not far behind and I think you will find a very loyal following for these resorts.

Have stayed at all four moderates and CSR is our least favorite. We like CBR but always seem to choose to stay at POR or POFQ.

Just for reference we cycle between WL, BC and POR/POFQ for our stays.

Yes, CBR has a small hot tub at the main pool. You can find the main pool to be quiet in the mornings and in the evenings once the slide is closed for the night. Each time we went to our islands quiet pool we were the only one's at the pool.

Oh, we've also camped both tent and trailer many, many times at FW Campground as well. Forgot to add that into the above post.

Last year, I booked a stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort but about a month later, I started to wonder if I really wanted to pay the extra money for "just a room". So...I changed our reservation to the Pop Century. In the meantime, I started looking at the guidebooks and the layout of the rooms. Hummmm...I always overpack and we always buy lots of souveniers. Maybe we did need the extra space. About two weeks after changing to the Pop Century Resort, I called back and made the change back to the Caribbean Beach. Boy, oh boy, am I glad we did.

The tropical theme is carried out throughout the resort. The buildings are all painted bright cheerful colors. You will hear Caribbean music all around. Gorgeous flowers, shrubs and trees are growing everywhere.

We rented surrey bikes and watermice at the resort. We lazed around in the hammocks and watched the Epcot fireworks from the Jamaica beach. We ate lots of food at the food court. We took advantage of all the amenities offered by the CBR. I would definitely recommend the CBR to anyone. That being said.....here's a some very thorough details of the CBR:

We fell in love with the Caribbean Beach Resort the minute we stepped on the resort property. Everything is so lush and beautiful. The buildings are painted bright colors and we saw no peeling paint anywhere.

You will check in at the Custom House. Our check in went extremely well. All of the windows were full and there were numerous families in front of us. We were checked in, given our room key/theme park tickets, shown to the concierge desk to get our Hoop Dee Doo Review tickets and on our way to our room in less than 30 minutes. Most people won't visit Custom House again until they check out so it is not necessary to request a room near the CH.

We were assigned to Jamaica, Building 41. Our room faced a beautiful courtyard. All of our requests (non smoking, upstairs, facing courtyard) were met. We were just a 3 minute walk to the bus station and a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale. It took less than a minute to the Jamaica quiet pool and beach.

The rooms at the CBR are 340 sq. feet where the other moderates are 314 sq. feet. Believe me, you'll be glad you have the extra space when you get all your things in the room.

The room was immaculate. There are two beds (unless you request a king size room which has only one bed), a nightstand, a table and two chairs, a large mirror, an armoire with three large drawers, a refrigerator, a padded bench with large drawer beneath and a peg type shelf. The mattresses were replaced in May and June, 2006. They were replacing them during our stay. Because the beds were raised off the floor, I stored our luggage beneath to get them out of the way.

The sink/closet area is of ample size. The sinks are enclosed in a wooden cabinet and there is storage underneath each sink. The closet rod and shelf are pretty long. There were a dozen hangers and we brought along 2 dozen more. I also brought along a mesh laundry bag for our dirty clothes. There is a privacy curtain that can be pulled to separate the sink/closet area from the bedroom which is nice when everybody is trying to get ready at once.

The bathroom is the typical size. No mold, no mildew, no loose tiles. I checked.

A coffeemaker, iron, ironing board and hairdryer are provided.

Mousekeeping was wonderful. They cleaned the room thoroughly every day. They also replinished the coffee, linens, towels and toiletries.

We never heard our next door neighbors. No running water, no flushing toilets, no talking, no nothing. One of the quietest places we have ever stayed.

Each village has their own quiet pool and white sandy beach. The Jamaica pool was never crowded and, sometimes, we had it all to ourselves. The laundry facilities are located right beside the pools so you can do your laundry and not feel as if you are wasting any vacation time.

The beaches were swept clean every night. It was nice to laze around in the hammocks on the Jamaica beach and watch the Epcot fireworks at night. Some of the beaches have small playgrounds for the little ones and some have volleyball nets for the bigger kids.

We found the island in the middle of the lake to be a nice getaway. Tropical music played all around the island and there were benches placed here and there. We even saw some families having picnics and birthday parties on the island.

You can rent watermice, pontoon boats, sailboats, canoes, surrey bikes and bicycles from the marina.

The main pool was pretty crowded during our stay but we didn't mind because we used the Jamaica pool. Located beside the main pool are a pool bar, a hot tub and hair wrap station.

Shutter's is the full service restaurant. Even our picky 9 year old son found something he liked on the Caribbean themed menu.

The food court served a variety of foods. You will find burgers, chicken strips, rotissiere chicken, vegetables, pizza, pasta, salads, fresh made sandwiches, yogurt, assortment of desserts, veggies and dip, fresh fruit, fresh bakery items, etc. At breakfast, you will find breakfast meats, mickey waffles, omelets, eggs, fresh bakery items, etc.

The store is divided in two with one side selling CBR themed items such as pirate items, swimming suits, flip flops, jewelry, etc. The other side sells the more traditional Disney items such as t-shirts, purses, watches, snowglobes, toys, etc.

There is a medium sized arcade. You purchase a refillable playing card and just swipe it at the game you want to play. No keeping up with tokens or coins.

We loved the CBR so much we booked our June, 2007 stay just days after arriving home from our June, 2006 stay.

Hope this helps with your decision making process, Lisa

I have stayed off property twice and the last 3 times at CBR. Through word of mouth from friends who have been there, we tried it and we love it. Because there is a refigerator in the rooms at no extra cost, we brought cold breakfast and lunch items. It is a beautiful resort. Also, I have not had any problem with bus wait times. The hot tub is small, but it is not bad.

CBR is a beautiful resort. You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ thread listed below. Yes CBR has a hot tub. I have lots of pictures of CBR on my website listed below.

Staying at CBR for third time in August. I love it. Aruba and Jamaica are the best (IMO) islands that are nonpreferred. OPR is just a short walk over a foot bridge from them. The quiet pools are great and I also found that we were usually the only ones there. The hammocks on the beaches are also nice, and you can see the EPCOT fireworks from there.

I haven't been there in a long time, but we were there on our honeymoon and loved it. So much that we are going back in August, and when my TA wanted to know if I would be willing to switch to another moderate if the free dining was available at my resort, I told him no. I think it's a very relaxing place that almost makes you feel like you are on one of the islands.

Our first trip to WDW was in Feb 2007. I read all the books and reviews about the resorts and decided to stay at Caribbean Beach. We fell in love with the resort right away. The entire resort was clean and the staff was friendly. The foodcourt was very handy, lots of good food! The bus system was awesome, we never waited more than 5 mintues for a bus. Our village pool was clean and I used the laundry facilites and everything was spotless! Our room was clean upon arrival and Mousekeeping did a great job the entire week we were there. We walked around the entire resort our first day, the villages do seem spread out but it's not as bad you think, it made for a beautiful walk. I loved watching the Illuminations from our beach at night. I don't have one complaint about Caribbean Beach, I want to go back tomorrow! You'll love it! princess:

When we don't stay deluxe, the CB is our next favorite resort.:thumbsup2

CBR is our favorite! We can't wait to go back again, even though we were just there!

I stayed here and in the 90's and enjoyed my stay very much. Rooms were basic but very clean, all wings had courtyards to sit at and a beach area. The pool was a little small but it has a theme and my Grandson loved it.

We made the move to deluxe's after our stay here. Age plays a big part in our stays now. The moderates are a great place to stay but there size can be overwhelming at times. I have become a monorail Grandma.
