Who has stayed at Carribean beach?

CBR is a beautiful resort. You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ thread listed below. Yes CBR has a hot tub. I have lots of pictures of CBR on my website listed below.

safetymom - Your gallery of CBR photos is great - exactly the level of detail I've been looking for in preparation for our September trip there!

:) We stayed there years ago in Martinique and it was AWESOME! We stayed there last September and we were in Trinidad South. It was pretty far away from everything. I know some like it but we didn't. If we go back to CBR I would definitely pay extra for the preferred room. Have a great time! :)

Last year, I booked a stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort but about a month later, I started to wonder if I really wanted to pay the extra money for "just a room". So...I changed our reservation to the Pop Century. In the meantime, I started looking at the guidebooks and the layout of the rooms. Hummmm...I always overpack and we always buy lots of souveniers. Maybe we did need the extra space. About two weeks after changing to the Pop Century Resort, I called back and made the change back to the Caribbean Beach. Boy, oh boy, am I glad we did.

The tropical theme is carried out throughout the resort. The buildings are all painted bright cheerful colors. You will hear Caribbean music all around. Gorgeous flowers, shrubs and trees are growing everywhere.

We rented surrey bikes and watermice at the resort. We lazed around in the hammocks and watched the Epcot fireworks from the Jamaica beach. We ate lots of food at the food court. We took advantage of all the amenities offered by the CBR. I would definitely recommend the CBR to anyone. That being said.....here's a some very thorough details of the CBR:

We fell in love with the Caribbean Beach Resort the minute we stepped on the resort property. Everything is so lush and beautiful. The buildings are painted bright colors and we saw no peeling paint anywhere.

You will check in at the Custom House. Our check in went extremely well. All of the windows were full and there were numerous families in front of us. We were checked in, given our room key/theme park tickets, shown to the concierge desk to get our Hoop Dee Doo Review tickets and on our way to our room in less than 30 minutes. Most people won't visit Custom House again until they check out so it is not necessary to request a room near the CH.

We were assigned to Jamaica, Building 41. Our room faced a beautiful courtyard. All of our requests (non smoking, upstairs, facing courtyard) were met. We were just a 3 minute walk to the bus station and a 5 minute walk to Old Port Royale. It took less than a minute to the Jamaica quiet pool and beach.

The rooms at the CBR are 340 sq. feet where the other moderates are 314 sq. feet. Believe me, you'll be glad you have the extra space when you get all your things in the room.

The room was immaculate. There are two beds (unless you request a king size room which has only one bed), a nightstand, a table and two chairs, a large mirror, an armoire with three large drawers, a refrigerator, a padded bench with large drawer beneath and a peg type shelf. The mattresses were replaced in May and June, 2006. They were replacing them during our stay. Because the beds were raised off the floor, I stored our luggage beneath to get them out of the way.

The sink/closet area is of ample size. The sinks are enclosed in a wooden cabinet and there is storage underneath each sink. The closet rod and shelf are pretty long. There were a dozen hangers and we brought along 2 dozen more. I also brought along a mesh laundry bag for our dirty clothes. There is a privacy curtain that can be pulled to separate the sink/closet area from the bedroom which is nice when everybody is trying to get ready at once.

The bathroom is the typical size. No mold, no mildew, no loose tiles. I checked.

A coffeemaker, iron, ironing board and hairdryer are provided.

Mousekeeping was wonderful. They cleaned the room thoroughly every day. They also replinished the coffee, linens, towels and toiletries.

We never heard our next door neighbors. No running water, no flushing toilets, no talking, no nothing. One of the quietest places we have ever stayed.

Each village has their own quiet pool and white sandy beach. The Jamaica pool was never crowded and, sometimes, we had it all to ourselves. The laundry facilities are located right beside the pools so you can do your laundry and not feel as if you are wasting any vacation time.

The beaches were swept clean every night. It was nice to laze around in the hammocks on the Jamaica beach and watch the Epcot fireworks at night. Some of the beaches have small playgrounds for the little ones and some have volleyball nets for the bigger kids.

We found the island in the middle of the lake to be a nice getaway. Tropical music played all around the island and there were benches placed here and there. We even saw some families having picnics and birthday parties on the island.

You can rent watermice, pontoon boats, sailboats, canoes, surrey bikes and bicycles from the marina.

The main pool was pretty crowded during our stay but we didn't mind because we used the Jamaica pool. Located beside the main pool are a pool bar, a hot tub and hair wrap station.

Shutter's is the full service restaurant. Even our picky 9 year old son found something he liked on the Caribbean themed menu.

The food court served a variety of foods. You will find burgers, chicken strips, rotissiere chicken, vegetables, pizza, pasta, salads, fresh made sandwiches, yogurt, assortment of desserts, veggies and dip, fresh fruit, fresh bakery items, etc. At breakfast, you will find breakfast meats, mickey waffles, omelets, eggs, fresh bakery items, etc.

The store is divided in two with one side selling CBR themed items such as pirate items, swimming suits, flip flops, jewelry, etc. The other side sells the more traditional Disney items such as t-shirts, purses, watches, snowglobes, toys, etc.

There is a medium sized arcade. You purchase a refillable playing card and just swipe it at the game you want to play. No keeping up with tokens or coins.

We loved the CBR so much we booked our June, 2007 stay just days after arriving home from our June, 2006 stay.

Hope this helps with your decision making process, Lisa

Sums up CBR perfectly.

This was our first resort and it was great. We have boys and at the time they were 6 and 8 and the pirate theme pool was perfect for them.

You can not go wrong at CBR. The island feel is awesome especially first thing in the morning when you wake up

We loved it and are looking forward to going back in September!

We had preferred rooms - Martinique, building 26. Close to everything, yet so peaceful!

Someday (when we are only bringing two children instead of four {or maybe none!!!} and only need one room) I would like to stay at the Grand Floridian, but the CBR is perfect for us now.

I'm going be staying the CBS at the end of the month. I wanted to know where I would buy the refilleable mugs and where I can refill them. Was there a refrig in your room. Thanks

Yes there is a fridge in the room. You can purchase the mugs in the food court. That is also where you would refill them. Welcome to the DIS. I have pictures of the fridge on my website listed below.

All of the moderates have fridges in the rooms. You can buy the refillable mugs in the foodcourt and they can be refilled in the food court.

My family and I were at the CBR many times. If I weren't a DVC member, I'd still be staying there. It was great. I loved the walkway they have behind the rooms (not by the open street where the traffic was coming and going...good with younger children who aren't mindful while there walking). At the CBR, they also had ponchos and refillable mugs in your room. If you wanted them, you could just take them and the cost would be charged to your room. You didn't have to travel to the main strore to buy them if needed.
Intresting fact, back in 1998 when we went, our travel agent informed us that CBR had the most rooms in all Disney World. However, when we went there, we never heard our neighbors. Unless we were at the food court early for breakfast, we didn't even see that many other guests. I'm sure one of the newer resorts are now the biggest (Saratoga maybe)
Housekeeping was great there too! In fact I still have alot of soap and shampoo bottles left from years ago that were left for us: pluto: :donald: :mickeyjum .

We stayed there about 4 years ago and weren't terribly impressed. We were situated a long way from the Customs House. It wasn't clear where the main pool and snack bar even were, and we were always too anxious to get back to the parks to mess around looking for them. The room was fine, but not significantly better to my mind than a value resort. No elevators, so we had to cart our stroller up the stairs repeatedly. The pool and beach near our building were both pretty and completely empty of other people whenever we went to use them.

It was fine, but for some reason it didn't seem particularly charming or magical, or typically "Disney". It's not a resort I'd choose again.

Im staying at the resort from April 29-May5 soon . I called AAA to buy Disneyn Tickets lady asked me if I would like to turn it into a package and get the dining included. She called the resort and asked them if they would do it. They hotel said they wouldn't do it. Is there anything I can do about it. Thank you in advance.

I think she should have called 407-w-disney and not the CBR itself. I'm not sure that CBR has the authority to change the reservation for you. If I were you, I, personally, would call 407-w-disney and ask the question.

Me and my family have stayed at CBR twice, although it was quite a while ago now. No regrets at all, totally loved this resort. It was wonderful!

I loved the foodcourt area and the boating lake was great, I was only 11 at the time and to take out my own mini speed boat was amazing!! Racing with my Mum, Dad & Brother down the lake, we had a brilliant time!! :goodvibes

The rooms were immaculate, always clean and tidy and the theming of the hotel was brilliant. Loved all the bright colours and the wildlife that was attracted to the place. We even seen an armadillo!! :rotfl:

I tired to book dining for my trip to Disney as a afterthought. But I called Disney and my travel agent with no luck.

If you booked through a travel agent they would have to make the change to your reservation. The agency owns the reservation until you are standing at the desk at CBR checking in.

She may have to make a whole new reservation. You would make a deposit on that one and Disney would refund the deposit on your first reservation.

Disney can't do anything with it by calling them directly.

We've stayed at CBR twice, once with our two boys, and we love it! It is spread out, but that's one thing we like about it. We've had no complaints either time, just a great time!

Sorry if this info is somewhere, it seems so simple...
After checking in at the Custom House, does the Internal/Village shuttle transport you and carry on's to your village? It just seems like a long walk if you arrive on ME.....Thanks
