Who Had Characters At Their Wedding?

Somebody asked about Jiminy. For those who haven't seen Jiminy in action:

Hmmm, haven't heard one way or the other on that one. Since Chip does make an appearance in the Beauty and the Beast show that increases his chance of being available (basically, we do not get every character from every movie. Some will only come out for special events, others do not appear at all. For instance, only Chicken Little and Abby Mallard from Chicken Little are available to greet, none of the other characters are). So if they greet or do a show on property, their chances of being available are dramatically increased.

I love this thread!

I have never before seen Tuck and Roll in the parks - where do they typically hang out? I don't have their autographs!!!

Characterfan - I know that Minnie also has a white more sort of a wedding dress. It looks something like this -

I haven't seen it in anyones wedding pictures in a long time so I dont' know if its still an available option but I would ask if you like it.
That's cute. Very 90s with the feathers. but I may have to find out.
Also does anyone know about Sorceror Mickey? He is one of my favorites!
Sorcerer Mickey is. We asked, since it's DFi's favorite Mickey. I was thinking out it since he fits our theme and everything.

As far as I know the white dress is still available. I know I did a special a couple of years ago where it was worn.

The reason you don't see it as that by far the most popular is the yellow formal. Most women don't choose the white one, maybe because of the taboo on other people wearing white to weddings (the idea that only the bride should wear white/nobody should upstage the bride). I agree it is very cute, but I'm not sure I would want it at my wedding. I'm thinking either lavender (my favorite color) or the new gold one which is very nice looking.

One thing I noticed is that in all the recent pictures Minnie is putting her bow in front of one ear. It just looks wrong to me. I'm used to it being in the middle and it makes Minnie look off balance. I wonder why they started doing that? :confused3

I'm really enjoying reading this post and seeing the pics! I have one question regarding the Star Wars characters. I know they aren't owned by Disney so it would make sense that they can't be there, BUT has anyone had Jedi Mickey or Minnie??? I went to the Star Wars weekends at Disney and it was a lot of fun, not to mention that my DF is a HUGE star wars fanatic!!! I would love to hear if anyone has ever had (or heard) any Star Wars characters to a Disney wedding. I was also actually thinking about renting out a few of the clone troopers from outside to be at the wedding (NOT from Disney)?? (Or maybe renting the costumes and having a couple of the guys wear it to the wedding for a little bit.) I only ask about this because my DF is such a huge Star Wars fan and I know he'd LOVE to have this...and actually I wouldn't mind the clone troopers because their costumes are pretty cool looking. Thanks for sharing!!! :dance3:

I have never heard of it. The Jedi costume only comes out for Star Wars Weekends, and I imagine they have to pay a licensing fee to George Lucas for it which could prevent them from allowing it. It never hurts to ask. I don't know when your wedding is, but if it's around the time of Star Wars Weekends you can always go visit them on rehearsal day or something like that.

I'm not sure what the policay is on bringing your own costume. I know for the parks you cannot wear costumes into the parks as an adult on a normal day. We make an exception for Star Wars Weekends, particularly for members of 504 (the Star Wars Fan Club) but they have to sign something agreeing not to sign autographs or pose for pictures as a Disney Cast Member. For your wedding, as long as it is not in the park, I don't know for sure what the policy would be. The biggest issue is the licensing. Your best bet is to ask your wedding coordinator. I'm pretty sure if you supply your own that it would be okay, but make sure to ask first because I would hate to see you put in a position where that's all you have and you can't use it.

I am surprised to hear about the yellow formal for Minnie because she has a beautiful white dress for formal night on DCL that would look perfect at a wedding (think Ginger Rogers style - 30's/40's Ballroom daning). No, she would not upstage the bride but that could be why they don't offer that one.

They do offer it, most brides just don't choose it. Last I had heard it was still offered for a wedding. I've done other events with it. In all the weddings I did, only one did not use the yellow formal (that was the Christmas wedding). I don't know why most brides choose the yellow one, they just do.

Thanks for your input Eeyores Butterfly! Yes, I am aware that you cannot wear costumes in the parks...but my reception will be in one of the GF ballrooms so hopefully, it won't be a problem! I wonder what the licensing issue would be??? I know others (outside of Disney) have had this at their receptions w/out any problems. Thanks again!!! :cheer2:

Oooh, I love this thread!

Also really pleased to see Minnie has a white choice! She'd upstage me no matter what she wears, she is like super famous!! And I think it'd be super cute if we were both in wedding dresses anyway!

Now how do I convince my fiance??

Also (sorry - I got too carried away with the Minnie in white dress excitement!) does Daisy have a formal outfit that isn't the yellow? I'd love her in white or pink.

EB! Fancy meeting you here ;)

I want mickey in his normal outfit for my reception. I would love Minnie too but they are so expensive so only one is coming, lol.

We also didn't have it in our budget for a character, but boy, did we get lucky!!!!

Our wedding at the DLH was during the time when Goofy would wander around the Hotel due to all of the construction going on for DTD. It sort-of was a bit of a band-aid to all of the messiness and the noise.

We were walking the long way from the wedding at the rose garden to the reception above Goofy's Kitchen and we crossed paths with Goofy. We KNEW we wanted pictures and thankfully, Goofy happily oblidged. (as did his handler)

I have two of the best wedding-day pictures with him. I just wish I could post them but Husband doesn't agree to having it online.

I am amazed at how many characters you can choose from. I was married at Disneyland in California. We where only allowed Mickey and Minnie at our reception. No exceptions. When its time for my Vow renewal. I'm having it at Disneyworld.

Wow, I love the pictures! I know when I get married, it will be at WDW (and there will be characters there).

We just got back from our planning session. When we asked to see the dresses Minnie would wear we were shown 4 choices. Her lavender dress, her yellow dress, a xmas dress, and her normal original outfit. We were told there were no other choices. DH hated how she looked so we are just having Mickey in his tux with top hat and cane.

We had Mickey and Minnie at our reception at the AHD. They were in formal atire. Mickey in his tux and Minni in a white with gold trim dress I think. YOu will hav to look at my wedding link to see pictures. I am at work so I can't post any or see them because its blocked here.

For those of you who are on the fence about having Characters, its one of the best choices we made. We were going to cut it but decided against it, our guest couldn't believe they were there!
