Who Had Characters At Their Wedding?

Thanks for showing the new gold outfits, those are much better looking!

We had them in their purple formal outfits, which I LOVED! Also, Mickey didn't wear his top-hat, even though he had the tux on. Frankly, I'm glad! I didn't plan it that way, but I like it better!

Top hats are worn for evening weddings, I believe the rule of thumb we use is after 5pm.

I haven't had our vow renewal yet but we will have Mickey and Minnie at our Wishes reception. I do like their new gold outfits better than the yellow ones. I thought you could also have them in their regular original outfits. I'll ask at our planning session in June.

This might help those planning to have characters:
When I was getting info on the characters from my sales manager I was told that you could not have Princess Jasmine and Mickey at the same time.(no mixing character themes) The characters had to be alike meaning Buzz and Woody, Mickey and Minnie, not Cinderella and Dopey. He said Pixar characters cannot appear at the same time as the Disney characters. In my email from him it also states no villians, Lumiere is used for Be Our Guest song for 1st course. The following characters are NOT allowed:
Star Wars and Jim Henson/muppets characters
Winnie the pooh and all related characters(piglet, tigger, etc)
Jacque & Gus Gus from Cinderella

Also when you request the 7 dwarfs, all 7 have to appear. Dopey is the only one that can be booked alone. Chip and Dale, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and Tuck and Roll have to appear together and not alone.

Hope this info helps those planning!

That is really weird. I wonder if they have changed the rules because the one vow renewal I did Mickey, Cinderella, and Jasmine appeared at the same time, then that group went in and Buzz Lightyear came out.

The others make sense (well, except for the Winnie the Pooh characters). Because of contract issues with Pixar from before we owned them, their characters and our characters cannot appear on set at the same time. The only time I have seen this done is in the old Disney Stars and Motorcars Parade we had a Toy Story Unit.

You are right that Dopey is the only dwarf that can ever be alone. I used to perform in Spectromagic. If one dwarf had a problem and couldn't perform, they would down the whole unit, but since Dopey is on a float he would still go out (and so would Snow White). The others like Chip and Dale, or the Tweedles are packaged sets, you never see one without the other. As for Tuck and Roll, they are the acrobatic pill bugs from a Bug's Life.

The Pooh characters aren't owned by Disney. They are licensed or something like that. It's the same reason you haven't have the Muppets.

Yeah, I know we license them from A.A. Milne, it's just the first time I've heard of them having restrictions like that. Although, come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing a wedding or special event with them scheduled. Some of our contracted characters have fewer restrictions than others. I thought they were one of them. Guess not.

Actually the Muppets reason is related to size and perspective - Muppets are no longer seen in the parks outside of the parade for the same reason. They are to be "puppet" size or something like that. We had our wedding in Muppets courtyard and had originally arranged to have Kermit and Piggy, however, due to changes in policy as well as changes in management at Studios we were not able to have them.

Ooh....I really considered having Tigger at the wedding! I could have been a first! We're debating on characters. My niece and nephew would be the only children there, and they are much more into Pixar than disney (and by into I mean exposed to because my SIL has something against princesses!!! and commercialism) I'll have to inform DF.

What about costumes? Can you have different themes besides formal wear and classic? (Besides Scuba, although that would be a consideration)

I love this thread!

I have never before seen Tuck and Roll in the parks - where do they typically hang out? I don't have their autographs!!!

Characterfan - I know that Minnie also has a white more sort of a wedding dress. It looks something like this -

I haven't seen it in anyones wedding pictures in a long time so I dont' know if its still an available option but I would ask if you like it.

While we are on the subject - does anyone know if Jimminy Cricket is ever available? We were thinking of maybe having a character come to our napa room welcome dinner. First we were thinking chip and dale - but then I was thinking Jimminy would be really cool since he narrates the fireworks - and since he is more unusual.

Also does anyone know about Sorceror Mickey? He is one of my favorites!

That character mixing thing is weird. We have Mickey, Donald and Stitch coming to ours. :confused3

I think with the character mixing they just come out at different times. You can book Mickey, Donald and Stitch but they will probably have Stitch come out by himself.

I was also surprised no Winnie the Pooh characters could be booked.

Just an FYI I was given the info about the characters I posted above about 2 months ago so maybe some of the info is new and things that have recently changed.

I'm not sure about this, because Mickey had his top hat on for us and our ceremony was at 2:30pm...(I can't post pics yet, because I don't have my discs from Randy yet, but you can see our pics on his website).

I can offer this tidbit of information -

I asked to have Sebastian from TLM for our Living Seas Reception - I thought it would fit because he's a crab & it's an aquarium. I was told no from my planner - He wouldn't be able to appear with Flounder & Scuttle it was I was told. Weird, huh?:confused3

Right now, we have Mickey & Minnie on our BEO. I'm hoping to keep them but they might be cut due to budget, but so far we are doing well.

To me, having characters at your wedding seems to cost too much. I don't think we can even afford a Disney Wedding at all. (It's my dream though and I'm hoping maybe we can make it come true in a few years) But I think the idea is cute of having characters there. If anything though I would want a Lion King theme wedding, and I think the only characters of The Lion King I have ever seen is Rafiki and Timon. Both of which I'm not crazy about... Now if I could have that float from The Festival of The Lion King, that has Simba on Pride Rock at my wedding some how, that would be the best! Haha! I could imagine it, yeah Simba can't get up and walk around, but maybe he could look around at people, nod his head, roar, and maybe he say something to us and our guests. (Although I'm not sure how that works, I would think they would have to get his voice actor to come in and record something special, and that's not going to happen) I don't know if Nala is still on that float... I actually saw The Lion King parade in Disneyland in 1994, and Nala was on the float. She wasn't on top of pride rock with Simba, but laying down more towards the bottom. Since the float moved to Animal Kingdom, I have no idea if she is still there, I never thought to check. But yeah, that's what I wish I could do. But I could only imagine how much that cost if they could do that! Waaaay more then just having characters at your wedding I'm sure! But hey I can dream eh?

EDIT: Ok Nala is probably not on that float anymore. Even though I have seen both The Lion King Celebration (the parade at Disneyland in 1994) and The Fesitval of the Lion in Animal Kingdom, I have forgot what the float used to look like during the Disneyland parade. I mean hey that was almost 15 years ago I saw that parade. I looked it up and it looks way different the the float in Animal Kingdom. I actually prefer that old float to the new one. (Not that I can ever get that old float back) I so wish I could see that parade at Disneyland again though... I wish I could see Captain EO again too, lol I am such a dork. :p

BirdyGirl - I think you can have your wedding reception in the festival of the lion king theater. I would assume that all of the floats are in place and they just set up the tables on the stage floor.

This is what it says on the meetings website - "Combining the best of all worlds, your evening begins with a grand welcome from your host Kiume as your group is invited to a magnificent feast heralded by the Royal Drums of Africa. Kiume returns during dessert for an awe-inspiring command performance of Disney's Festival of the Lion King, a fast-moving, high-flying, edge-of-your-seat live action show that brings new meaning to the Circle of Life."

I'm sure you can have just about any costume that we have. I can post some pics of some others I have done. There are various Christmas outfits for all the characters and I have a pic of a really neat Chinese Mickey (event was in the China Pavilion).

Tuck and Roll do not come out normally. We have many characters that are only seen at special events (and maybe once in a blue moon in the parks). Jiminy Cricket should not be a problem, he actually started greeting in the parks more when I was there after being added to the Disney Dreams Come True Parade (I was friends with him). I also don't see why Sorcerer Mickey would be a problem as he greets guests at Disney Hollywood Studios.

He can't appear with or without? That's really weird. I didn't even know Sebastian was available at all for greetings.

Thank you for the info. I have heard of a member here who had the Festival of The Lion King play at their wedding, but I can't even imagine how much that cost. I was thinking if we only have the Simba float out, and interact with us, without the whole show, that it might be cheaper, but in fact I don't think Disney would make it any cheaper if we did that instead of the full show.

Here are some other special costumes we have. (Bear in mind that this can be subject to change.)

Holiday themed:

I did a really neat one with Minnie in a pioneer dress, but I don't know if I ever took a picture of that one.

ohhh i want the characters so bad! I have a family that just would not be into it so i dont think it would even be worth the money. Plus, there is only one confirmed child coming everyone else is lame adults that would probably think it is stupid

I'm sure there are as Mickey wears a Hawaiin costume at O'Hana. I can't imagine Minnie wouldn't have one as well. I have a pic of it, but apparently not on the net. Once I get it uploaded. I will post it.

Got it! This is when my parents came to pick me up from my first entertainment CP:
