We are heading down to the Cincinnati, Ohio area and leaving around noon on Friday.

How ya doing?....Did you decide if your going to take the puppy plunge or not?

Waiting to see is more is brought up about it, and wait till after the Extreme Home makeover.

I'm making a cocktail called an "Alien Booger". It has a gross name, but GREAT ingredients! It has Coconut Rum, Midori, Pineapple & Orange Juices, shaken over ice.!

I'm also making the chocolate cake with the cheesecake filling and fudge frosting - because we'll be celebrating our step-mother's birthday.!

All I ever get is a ROCK!

I just finished wrapping all the Christmas presents. I have maybe 6-8 more to buy and I'm done! I'll start on the Christmas cards right after I get back.

It was YUK! Was Yellow cake mixed with gingerale, with caramel rolled in nuts in the center.....it was just a goooey mess!

I got a pretty low key day goin on...

changed my mind about going to the Phillies parade, too dern many people~
we'll probably get a half dozen kids at our door, total.
our friend's band is playing at the Moose, we'll go see them for sure~

DU, actually we are going to Harrison Ohio. It is a little town on the border of Ohio and Indiana. Probably not quite as scary there.

I happened across a website with statistics for that town and the crime there is almost non existant.

And besides we will be way out in the middle of nowhere at an airplane field (probably on a garbage dump or a gravel pit, knowing my previous experiences )

Colleen, we don't get very many trick or treaters either.

In recent years if we get 15 to 20 we are doing good.

Of course the weather is going to be nice this year and it is a Friday night so that might influence the numbers that we get.

I have both my kids and my mom on Halloween duty here tonight.

TW & Robin - we don't get trick-or-treaters too much, either. We now have a tradition (in our 6th year) that we go to the Outback Steakhouse.

DU - you are SO funny! No, I don't live on Wisteria Lane. I know the show, but I don't watch it. My sister's call me Martha Stewart with a gun....

Kim - Thanks for the compliment on catering/baking. I had considered it (with another friend who is an amazing Southern Cook) but then it would be work and drain all the enjoyment out of it.

I hope everyone is having a good day. Today I need to vacuum and dust. Then I'm putting up my fall decorations. Not much, a bunch of pumpkins made of different mediums (vines, metal, sculpted etc) and silk flowers on the window treatments and in a basket. I'll take a pic if I remember.

That sounds like a really nice night~

I'd honestly rather sit home with hubby and relax watching a movie tonight but our friend is also my lawn guy and he insisted I convince hubby and DBIL to come out and see him play~

Ann, how long did it take you to do all that (lattice) work on the side?!

TW - I'm SO glad you like the cake. The lattice took about an hour, hour and fifteen. Once you get a pace set, it goes fairly quickly. It's a BIG cake, or it would have been done quicker.

SWTHD - I hope you enjoy your movies AND candy! I can't watch scary movies...they give me real, honest-to-goodness nightmares!

Robin - are you heading out the door soon? Be safe!

DH and I are headed to the library. I've got the kitchen cleaned up, but still no vacuum and dust...soon, though.

Makenzie complained to anybody who gave her anything other than Kit Kats or Lollipops.


She checked out whatever was dropped in her pumpkin...and sai...'NOOOOOOOO KIT KAT' or 'NOOOOOOOOO Lolpop'! However she did not offer to return any of the candy.

Are you sure about that? You'd still be doing what you love, and are So Good at, and you'd be making $$$$! Start small, like Bree (LOL), but seriously, do what you want, when you want! Personal baker/caterer! YOU HAVE IT IN YOU!!! Worth a shot!

I didn't buy myself anything. I sat at McDonalds for 3.5 hours and read, and read and READ! The managers (heck everyone!) there know me and I'm there all the time, so they don't mind.

Then I came home and took a nap!

It's been a quiet day. We sliced the cake that I made. It was really good. Unfortunately, I forgot to take it out so it could get to room temp, so the frosting was hard (it was made with butter). After a while, it softened and was GREAT!

Here's a pic - unfortunately, there is a piece of orange peel on the cake...I didn't realize it until now and I didn't take another one.
