A fire in the fireplace IS lovely - except in Florida we get Thunderstorms when it's 90º out...so it's too warm & sticky for it. When you get them in California the temp drops significantly. I loved living in California, but after being in the Florida humidity for so long - the dryness is too much for me!

I hope ya'll's day has been GREAT!
yeah....i can't really see the point of a fire in 90 deg weather BUT...usually when we're down in Palm Springsthat 1st week of November - we'll have a fire JUST for the ambiance:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: One of my customers last week was from California. And we were standing outside, watching a TS & :smokin: ...and he mentioned that he hasnt seen a thunderstorm in years!!!

I never knew that about California untill last week.:lmao:
yeah it's sad - it's the one part of the Iowa summers i DO miss

I overheard someone in Barnes and Noble on her cell phone SUnday. We had a pretty minor thunderstorm here. I don't know where she was from, but she was talking to someone about how horrible it was and staying in the mountains, it was like being in a storm on top of the world and she was sure she was going to die!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
OMG!!!!! did you just die from laughter??????:rotfl2:

Hiya Threadkillers! I have to say - I do NOT like Thunderstorms. I enjoy the baby ones, but when it's heavy thunder, lightening, rain & wind...you'll find me cowering under the bed!

DU - enjoy your Saturday. Our DD is coming with the grand babies, so we're gonna have fun!

Be careful......The undertow has been really bad lately.
Over last weekend 7 people died in NY waters!:scared1:

I don't go in the water much...and I know how to get out of one of those ::yes:: NJ has always had an undertow problem - you swim horizontal to the current until it stops pulling on you, then you turn to the coastline and swim in.

Oh yeah, and Panicking is bad :(

:surfweb:

James started Band Camp today! He couldnt tell me what happened, he was too exhausted from standing and playing the SAX all day!:lmao:

Morning DU:wave:

I just LOVE a good thunder storm....
Ya know the kinds that rattle your windows and lights up the sky ....:goodvibes

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was go out and play in a thunderstorm...until my mom called me in and wanted to know if I was crazy....LOL.

I still really enjoy them...I really like watching the trees blowing and the clouds rolling in, just before a storm starts...awsome!

:lmao: Same here...UNTIL i was about 13 and a bolt of lightning struck a tree about 10 feet away from where I was standing!:scared1:
:lmao:

However from the front of my house, we have a great view (over the Delaware Water gap) So when there is a a storm in the distance, I like too watch.

I have a wedding shower to go to Saturday and Sunday am taking DD(16) on a trip to tour and interview at a couple of colleges about 5 hours away so that meet is out for me! But DU you will have a great time, everyone was so nice and really easy to get along with. It was very natural.

Cant wait!:cool1:

Good Morning all:wave2:

Hey DU, or Colleen,
Have you ever been to Longwood Gardens?

http://www.longwoodgardens.org/default.html

If so would it be worth our time to make a day trip to see it?....
It looks interesting....
Ive also heard "The Kennedys" will be playing there in Aug.....I really enjoyed them the last time we had a chance to see them..
Pete Kennedy is an awsome guitar player, and Maura has an amazing voice...:thumbsup2

Its about the same distance as the RF was for us..It in Chester Co. (I think)..So we are thinking about going...:confused3

I know, I made the children watch the news in the morning before we went and they were explaining what to do if caught in a riptide. Although they lowered the alert for the riptides the day we were there, we were all very careful.

We parked ourselves right by the lifegaurds and that is where the kids swam all day. :thumbsup2

Now I am longing to go back....:beach:

Wow Betsy they are beautiful. Never heard of it, It looks like it would be a 3 to 4 hour drive for PD and I.....looks well worth it. I will have to show DH.

Hello Nsalz:wave:

I thought they looked nice...I would really like to see those treehouses...
Im not sure we'd be able to see the fountain, and fireworks show...It would make for a very long day with a long LATE drive back home.

I DID see a KOA not too far from there...in West Chester, Pennsylvania...

http://www.realtraveladventures.com/CampVentures/this_koa_is_a_special_find__.htm

But with the gas prices, Im not sure we are planning on taking the RV anywhere this year...:confused3

Ill have to run it by DH...He's the one that has to do the towing...:rolleyes1

My DFIL has been trying to get us to go to Longwood this year...he's taken my son there many, many times since Adrian was little - the boy even likes it! We were shooting for a Fall visit~

Let me know if you set a date to go, I will ABSOLUTELY meet you there!

(Unless of course it's for the Kennedy's :( we are still away til the 24th)

Good Mornin!
Happy August!:goodvibes

Happy FRIDAY TKer's & Happy August...YIKES - this summer has gone by fast!!!!!

So, i had to get a new phone yesterday...i've had a Palm Treo for 5 years...(not the same one)...but a Treo....so yesterday i go into Verizon to replace my very broken one & they have the Treo 755 AND A newly introduced Palm Centro - both are same price...the Centro is "everything" the Treo is but in a MUCH smaller package & lighter weight....so far everything IS the same & works the same - the only downfall i've noticed is the battery doesn't last quite as long...but not sure that i charged it 100% yet either...the only other downfall is that it doesn't look like my treo....but that's just a 'personal' thing.....

Philly animals like to sleep

that's only half of what I have to post from this last trip to the zoo. I am still editing the other half. My myspace has all the shots I've taken at the zoo during John and my last two trips over there. A zoo membership was such a worthy gift for he and I :goodvibes:

Hi Colleen!

Those a GREAT pics! I especially like the shots of the polar bears! I keep forgetting to post a pic I took when Mary & I were in WDW in July. It's some kind of flower that was in Japan....

Disneyflowerpics6-17-081.jpg

Is it my imagination - or is one of the beavers (I think it's a beaver) yelping from the other one biting it? GREAT SHOT!

That's really pretty Ann, I'm thinking Lily cause it looks like it's in a pond :confused3

He's so cute! They are whistle dogs (Prarie Dogs) and the one was in full yawn when I took that. John and I looked at it afterwards and realized he looks like he's screaming
