The park in Ohio, Cedar something...is one on my list, have you been there?

That would be Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

I have been there several times (don't know for sure how many). It's about a 4 hour drive from here.

And I'm not sure I caught the whole convo about Roller Coasters, but Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster is no longer the record holder. It got beaten for Speed, Acceleration, Height, and Length of Drop when Six Flags - NJ opened Kingda Ka in May of last year.

Kingda Ka stats:
128mph
456ft tall
a drop of 418ft
0-128 mph in 3.5 seconds

TTD is 8mph slower, 36 feet shorter, has a 18ft shorter drop, and accelerates from 0-120 in 4 seconds... no slouch. That makes it 2nd in all those categories. They're exactly the same kind of coaster.

Best spot for Roller Coaster info is RCDB.

I'll probably hit Kingda Ka this summer...

It was "down" most of it's first season. Apparently it was poor planning on spare parts. The brake maintenence had to be done more often than expected and their parts supply was sorely lacking.

Np TW. TTD at CP is down most of the time too. In the race to beat everyone else to the bestest, fastest, tallest, etc, these coasters are going up without all the kinks worked out. They've got good saftey harnesses and brakes and all, but they aren't really ready for the friction that builds up at 128mph... especially when it's running non-stop all day long, every day of the year.

(Hence the reason for the "Ride Status" link on the page that uraken posted! )

oh and I was at the Kingda Ka opening...it was Music in the Parks day...that thing is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but it was shut down like every so often..they didnt plan it too well

the round a friend of mine was one up and didnt make it over the hill...it just came down backwards!!!!!!!!!

so yes...its the last day of school this week Thank God!!!!!!

The company who built/designed Kingda Ka is the same as the one who did TTD at CP

Yes, most are in the kitchen and dining room the rest were in the living room.

DalPal - I LOVED Survivor! I thought it was interesting the way they split up the group and the ladies voted off the WRONG woman!

Liz is home sick today. She is supposed to be doing her clinical placement at the hospital but started not feeling well last night.

We are flying down with another couple. There is this older couple that are going to the airplane event and have a timeshare from Saturday to Saturday. The old man's airplane is being flown at this airplane event which is a very prestigious, you fly by invitation only event. The man is 84 years old and his wife is I think 10 years younger. The man cannot see well enough to fly his own plane anymore so one of the younger club members flys it for him but he still loves to watch it fly. Anyways, we offered to pick them up and drive them to the airport in Detroit and fly down with them and then drop them in Mulberry FL at their timeshare for the week. We will then go back to whatever we want to do in the Orlando area and then move back to the airplane event. Then we will fly back with them and see them safely home again. They are a really great couple and we felt that we could help out this way since neither one of them have much flying experience and they don't know their way in Florida either.

You are SO nice and such a good friend! I hope Liz feels better!

Oh I forgot to mention..

There was an attempted burglary here in my neighborhood (down the street) on Tuesday night!

I got a neighborhood watch notice in the mail yesterday saying that the burglars attempted to get in the house through the back door but left when the alarm came on. The police found tracks in the back yard to the door.

And on Wednesday some construction workers that are working on a new house noticed a truck going up and down the street and would park on the corner. They took the plate number and description of truck and gave it to the police.. When the police tracked the owners down and had a talk with them.... they found that they were construction workers that were building a house in another subdivision.. and they said they were parked on our street because they were watching the "pretty lady and her kids play in the yard"

They have no reason being on our street and police told told them to take anthor route but that does not guarantee anything...


Lastnight I had all outside lights on and double checked doors ... now I'm paranoid!

OMG! You be careful! Now you HAVE to stay with the threadkillers, so we can keep our eye on you!
