I can;t believe you wrote that. When I answered that poll my familoy told me I had to go change my favorite song to David and Bing singing Little Drummer Boy and then I just forgot to do it. I remember watching that Bing Crosby Christmas Special when I was a teenager. My Monm wanted to know who David Bowie was. I thought the two of them singing together would be sooo bad! And then WOW!I was totally stunned and ever since that special it has been my absolute favorite Christmas song. I cry when I hear it. It is just soooo beautiful! Two of my all time favorite performers. I missed mt 10 year HS reunion (many years ago) because I had tickets to a David Bowie concert the same night.
I saw the tv show, never got to see Bowie in concert tho. This song proved Bowie could sing and wasn't just a "stage show." I grew up watching the classic singer/dancers and their movies, Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Elvis, Bob Hope...Bowie was my genre.
I just teared up reading your response

Thank goodness for Disney respite! You are a much better person than I! I wouldn't even want my MIL in the house for a night let alone a few months!!!! And as much as she drives me crazy, she's nothing compared to your MIL and all that she has done. Good news is that you have a guaranteed spot in Heaven so you can really misbehave here on Earth now!
I've seen what you write about your MIL. No offense to you, but yours has a mean streak, mine was just stupid. Stupidity is easier to forgive.
I'll give you guys some details...
My IL's were perfect from the day I met John. They were always there for us. My MIL was the driving force. She had a bad habit of not telling her husband things if she knew it would upset him. She hid things from him.
They were old school, his name was on the house deed and she stayed home and watched the kid.
One day, she decided to mortgage her house. She couldn't. The deed was not in her name. My ILs live in a very small town. They know everybody. MIL got a local notary to sign off on FILs signature transferring the deed from Dad's name to Mom's....and she got her mortgage. and then another. and then another. Guess what? She wasn't paying them.
One day, 38 years into a marriage, FIL comes home from work to movers. She had lost the house.
He had no idea.
My husband, their son, visited them after work almost every day. He too, got to Dad's house, and saw movers. He had no idea she'd lost the house.
That was where it started.
We then found out she owed major money, she defaulted on the loans, went to court a few times, and hadn't told any of us a thing.
Oh! I forgot to tell you...she had already seen the movers.
Long enough to grab a few things before they could, and run away.
I have since gotten Dad his money back. His sister and I worked with his lawyer, he got the value of his house back based on fraud. We sued the notary that signed off on the deed and the mortgage company that never verified its legality.
Dad now lives with us, his "apartment" is my finished basement. He's a snowbird. He lives in Florida with his sister every winter.
That brings us to today. MIL wound up in SC. She misses her family and wants to come home. We've made it very clear to her that we are not bumping Dad for her. She is welcome to use the room til March. She needs to find a place of her own.
She's anxiously waiting the arrival of her son. She just called as I am typing this. They expect to be done and back by the end of tomorrow.
My chest tightens up whenever I have to talk to her. I had to deal with everything that she dropped on us when she ran away. I had to step in as matriarch of this family. It was hard. It took two years for Dad's case to settle. I handled it. I am good like that. But I get stressed...I am human.
Did I tell you she never apologized for any of it?
To this day, refuses to admit she'd done anything wrong.
Hubby knows my love for Disney. He knows how much more I smile on these vacations than anywhere else in my world. My friends and family make these trips possible, hubby just lets me go.
