What a wonderful day I had. My DDs (13 & 15) and I went to the Berkshire Mountains today to the Clark Art Institute to see a Monet Exhibit. I am a huge Monet fan so was very excited. I was really very pleasantly surprised that the girls wanted to go with me (and DH was relieved cause he has no interest in art museums) DD(11) stayed with grandma because in her words "I don't want to spend my day off from school looking at some dead guys sketches!"
The art museum is a small museum at Williams College with an incredible art collection. I mean there are at least a few paintings from most every major artist. They even had paintings from the 1300's. It was absolutely amazing. And it was a beautiful day for a drive through the mountains. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to get there. WHile we were there I realized we were only a few miles from a liberal arts college that DD(15) has shown some interest in. The college brochure looks wonderful and the website looks nice, so I figured, hey we're here may as well go take a look. Well let me tell ya the college is off of the list! THe college buildings themselves looked nice enough but it was like the buildings were plopped down in the middle of a circus freak show. All the people in the area looked like "circus folk"
or delinquents!
We decided we wouldn't even get out of the car.
