I just asked one of my Philly guys about the siren,
he said it's probably the cops & the fire engines in the south philly projects..no lie!

I'll have to tell my DD of your DD's photos trick. I think it's a GREAT idea to do a close up shot & draw from that...every time my kids get stuck on a drawing project I just repeat to them, "draw what you see."

Well we were mainly in the south western part of Philadelphia so I suppose that could be it.

Wow, would that ever be annoying to have to live with all of the time, although after awhile you probably wouldn't hear it anymore just like living beside a train track.

Thanks for asking for me.

Hey Brer_Papa, I am glad that you had fun "managing" the thread killers while I was gone ::yes:: It seems like everyone had a good weekend.

I would rather juggle something else than cookies since I am not much of a cookie fan. Maybe some potato chips or gosh I don't even know what else I could use. And to juggle and tap dance at the same time would take much more concentration that I am capable of.

I was in a dollar store yesterday in Philadelphia and had to smile Brer_Papa :D I saw a package of wooden pick up sticks with their own wooden box to keep them in. They reminded me of someone I know :smooth:

No, you didn't call me an egger-onner. I do believe that was Kim would did that

Kim, said she would adopt you :earseek: , you better take her up on that offer right quick!!!! But what would poor PrincessAriel do without you :(

Edited to say what would PA do WITHOUT you not with you ;)

Some years back....an elf was born to Sydney and Clara McElf.....

The proud parents named him Albert....

As was the custom, the McElf's presented the new elfkin to Santa....

and Santa presented Albert to all the other Elfs, elfins and elfkins congregated in the Great Hall...

then Santa recorded Albert's name in "The Big Book of Elves and Elfins"

But Santa could see Syd and Clara were troubled....

"Everything all right?" Santa quizzed them....

"Uhmmmm....Santa....may we see you in private?" Syd and Clara said at the same time....

"Certainly....follow me to my office"....Santa directed them....

Once i Santa's office....Clara took the bonnet off Albert's head....and Santa immediately saw the cause for the parents concern.

Albert had a floppy ear....

instead of the point at the top of his ear standing straight and tall..Alberts one ear was floppy.....his ear pointed down....

well...Santa had NEVER seen a floppy elfkin ear before....and said so..

but...he wasn't about to let all the other elfs know....not if itcould be corrected...

so he cautioned the parents to keep wearig the bonnet....that maybe the floppy ear would correct itself as Albert got older....

so, the years flew by....Albert always wearing a bonnet....and only Santa, Syd, Clara & Albert knew about the floppy ear....

but the day came....Albert had to join the others in Santa's Toy Shop!

And...rules are rules....Albert would have to wear a regular elf hat....

and everyone would see his floppy ear!

(to be continued...)

But I noticed my mistake when I re-read it and edited to make it right ;)

Of course she would really, really miss you if you were gone ::yes:: .

Who else would drive her crazy :teeth: :p

I just uploaded some shots from when DD & I visited the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

~She looks so happy~

I'll call this my Proud Mama Moment...

Santa thought long & hard....he knew it wouldn't be good to send Albert into the Toy Shop....

and suddenly...Santa had an idea!

He's put Albert in entertainment!

That way, if Albert had an act....he could keep the floppy ear covered...

and Santa knew who he could call to help...so he got on the Santa-phone....

"Billy! How are you, my friend? Look..I need a favor...I have an elfkin here....poor guy has a floppy ear....I can't put him in the Toy Shop...so...I'm counting on you to teachhom how to yodel or juggle....ANYTHING at all...just so he's entertaining...I'll send him down...oh...his name is Albert...Thanks Billy!"

and Santa hung up...he has so much to do....

within minutes...Billy heard the familar sound of Santa' sleigh on his roof...and before you could blink...a tiny elfkin was standing in front of Billy...

"Hi...I'm Billy....you must be Albert..." as Billy introduced himself...he was eyeing Abert up...

short...small hands...but cute....maybe there was a possibility...

so...Billy started working with Albert...tryig to narrow down what skills or talents Albert had....

Aaaah...Albert's voice was too tiny to yodel...even with a microphone...Albert just lacked volume...

Billy tried to teach him some guitar or banjo chords....bt Alberts hands were just too small...his fingers just too tiny....

so...Billy tried teaching Albert to juggle....

but, once agai..Albert had hands just too small!

AAAAH..small hands! Billy Had an idea...

he called his Grandkids...they had small hands too!

If you have kids...use their names...heck...use your name where I use Billy if you want...

Before you could be kissed under the mistletoe....Billy had his 5 Grandkids at his house....

5 helpers to teach Albert too juggle...

Kara tried....and she did good....but her hands were way bigger than Alberts...

Corey tried....and he did good....but he is left handed and confused Albert...

Billy the 4th tried...and he did good....but he's a big boy...and his hands were way bigger than Alberts...

Sammy tried...and she did good...but I think Albert was too busy looking at Sammy and not at the juggling....

Savanna tried...and she did good...and her hands were closest in size to Alberts..but he wouldn't pay attention...

"well guys...Papa can't fail Santa...we need to think of something..." Billy said..

the Grandkids huddled around....excluding their Papa and Albert from their brainstorming....

Kara, being the oldest...was elected spokesperson....

"Papa...one-man-band Albert!" she said...and the Grandkids took up the chant: "ONE-MAN-BAND! ONE-MAN-BAND!"

{to be continued...)

"ONE-MAN-BAND! PURE GENIUS!" Billy exlaimed....

Billy was so proud...they take after him so much....

anyway..everyone scurried about....

everything they needed to one-man-band Albert was in the house!

A toy drum....a toy xylophone....a toy guitar...some jingle bells on a leather strap....

AND!!! some jingle bell clasp earrings...

when Billy put the earrings on Alberts straight up ear.....

IT FLOPPED!

"oh my goodness....now you have 2 floppy ears!" Billy told Albert....

and on saying it out loud....Billy had an idea  ....

and he ran forthe phone....he called Santa.. ...

Albert, Kara, Corey, Billy the 4th, Sammy and Savanna waited patiently....and the time grew...and still the 2 old friends talked by phone....

they could see Billy/Papa talking excitedly..... and nodding his head when he listened while Santa talked.......

"OK! we're going for a ride" Billy said at the exact moment the sleigh landed on the roof...

Billy, Albert and the Grandkids jumped in the sleigh....they had one stop to make on the west side and picked up another passenger....

....then one stop at the Mall...where Papa sent Kara and Corey with a list and some cash....

and once done shopping......off to the North Pole!

Santa assembled all the elfs, elfins and elfkins in the Great Hall...

Santa made the introductions of Billy's Grandkids....while Billy was out making his reaquaintances with his elf friends....

and then Santa had 2 more introductions to make....

"Friends....allow me to introduce to you...our new "Keeper of the Jingle Bells"...Albert McElf!"

Albert stepped forward...with his TWO floppy ears....and they were jingling!

Both ears were bedecked with bright shiny jingle bells....and they were tinkling merrily when Albert moved....

The Great Hall went into an uproar!

Everone loved Abert's jingle belled ears...

Satisfied that their plan worked...and with a wink to Billy..and a smle, a nod and a wink for Kara, Corey, Billy the 4th, Sammy and Savanna...

Santa stepped forward again saying..."Freinds...Albert will also be entertaining us in the future...he's going to be our "one-elf-band" elf...."

and again...the news was met with glee...

and Santa said...

"Who likes the jingle bell ears...and who will want to be part of the entertainment all the time withjingle bell ears??"

All the elfs, elfins and elfkins wanted jingle bell ears....

so Santa made the final introduction..

"Friends...line up...Billy & I have brought Buddy...

of "Buddy's body, lips & nose piercings"

(Buddy was the passenger they picked up on the west side....)

and Billy's Grandkids have donated the jingle bell earrings they got at the Mall......."

pandemonium broke out as all the elfs. elfins and elfkins tried to be first in line....

But Santa, with the wisdom of the ages....said that Syd & Clara should have the honor of going first....

and so it was.....

and from that day to this...and all the days forward....

all elfs, elfins and elfkins that you see ...will have 2 floppy ears...

BP...I don't know how you do it! I don't have that much creativity or imagination in my pinkie!! :p You can always put a smile on my face which should be taken as a very high compliment!!

Hi HollyAnn and Cruisin!

Hi to DalPal, WishingStar, tiggerwannabe, and anyone else I forgot.

I'm off to get the kids settled down for the night. They want to stay up and watch the Amazing Race with me---we always see which countries we want to visit---but it may be a little too late for them. It's been pretty hectic around here. My pupper dog is pretty old and has been having some problems. He's already blind but now he is having trouble with his hind legs. I have to help lift him up most of the time, especially to get him up the front porch steps. I'll do everything I can as long as he's not in pain.

Better news before I go. My mom had a breast biopsy and it came back negative!!! A big sigh of relief from the entire family. It has been a bad year and we were preparing for the worst, hoping for the best. Good to know hoping for the best does work out every once in awhile. Everyone have a great evening! Take care!

PS....HollyAnn, I did watch the Steelers play Sunday! I cannot say how enjoyable it is to watch them play again. The hits that some of the receivers delivered to clear the way for their team-mate that had the ball was inspirational! They really looked like a real team, as funny as that sounds! I would LOVE to see them in the Super Bowl! I was sorta hoping that the Eagles would lose!! :o

Hi everyone!

Cruisin - it's GREAT to have you back & posting. Was your trip to Philly, aside from being interrupted by sirens, successful? My theory (uh-oh, another theory!) is a siren is blasted everytime a philly-baby is born! Kinda like them playing "twinkle, twinkle, little star" at our hospital - except philly's a big city - lots of folks need to hear it!

BrerPapa - I'd adopt you! It's nice that you're house broken. When kiddo's join a family, that's usually not the case! I LOVED the story! How adorable. Did piercing Buddy do any ripple rings?

Luckymommyx2 - I'd be thrilled if the Steelers went to the Superbowl. I agree..........what a team! Congratulations on your mom's biopsy. I've had 3 lumps removed and I'm 3 times lucky! Such a weight off your mind, I know! Also, I hope your puppy is doing well. It's hard when a pet is ailing.

Tiggerwannabe - LOVED the pictures! No matter how many times someone tells me how to do that - it doesn't work! I've decided I'm to remain "pictureless". A sad state of affairs. I guess if I really wanted a picture posted, I'd e-mail it to Robin and beg!

Hi everyone else! Come out and play!

I'm finishing up my Christmas Cards! Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is in 9 days. I've shopped and shopped today!

My local grocery store was having their Christmas open house. BP, right up your alley! They had food, desserts, beverages, heck they even had alcoholic bevereges! They had enough food that you could have eaten an entire meal. Turkey, ham, shrimp cocktain, greenbean casserole, ambrosia salad, 3 different wines, egg nog, eggnog ice-cream & Holiday Spice Pepsi! Ever heard of that? Since they didn't have Diet Pepsi, I didn't indulge.

They also had 3 different kinds of dessert pastries. Didn't have anything I shouldn't have......I was a good girl. I did, however, make sure that my shopping list held off until the open house........I really wanted to go!

Anyway, I've got to scoot. I've gotta get those cards done! I'll check back on ya later!

Hello everybody! Good evening! :wave2:

BP, that was a really great story! I just love how you have a story (or 2 or 3) for every season! ::yes:: I'm glad we have some more time before C'mas, for even MORE stories! ;)

I think the question is what would I do with him?!?!!? (I must've been delirious)

Things are looking up over here! :sunny: I went to work, for a few hours, I was still kinda tired, but NO FEVER! :Pinkbounc I'm sure tomorrow will be even better!

BIL came through surgery with flying colors, according to my FIL! I told him that BIL had an angel watching over him today.

Haven't talked to my cousin directly yet, not until she's ready. I am slightly familiar with MS, as my husband's sister has it, my SILs Dad has it, a friend's wife has it, and I found out today that the lawyer across the hall from me has it also. This does not make me an expert by any means! All I know from those people, is that there are varying degrees/stages. (See, I know nothing) :o All I can do right now, is pray for her and her family, for the Best of everything, whether that be the best of the worst news, and best treatment, best doctors, best whatever! That's something I can do. ::yes:: And, when she's ready, I'll be there, with a shoulder, some tissue, and probably my own tears as well. Sadness will be fleeting, I know, because she's not the type to let anything get her down, for too long. She's a sweetheart.

LMX2, you must be so relieved! I'm so happy you can enjoy the holiday without worrying. :D

Welcome Home Robin! (PM forthcoming) Now, I didn't actually name names about the egging on, I hope you don't think I meant YOU?

BP, no one ever said I wasn't hungry while sick! Even DD didn't lose her appetite, which isn't much to begin with. So, I'm delirious and sound as a button all in the same weekend?! What weekend? I have no clue.

Oh, no left-overs tonight either, sorry. I know there will be tomorrow tho! Chicken casserole, my DSs fave! But it makes so much, and with me not eating any, there will be leftovers! Can you make it around 5:30 CST? And no, I will NOT substitute squirrel for chicken, guest or not. :crazy2: Maybe I'll make some break-and-bake cookies for dessert. ;)

See ya!!!

Wow! Ya'll were quiet last night! Quiet this morning, too. Am I finally gonna kill this thread?

Guess what I did today?! No......no........we didn't go out to b'fast! Good guess, tho.

I went to Toys-R-Us! In one fell swoop, I finished all the grandkids shopping and came home a hero! I had SO much fun!

Our 2 yr old is getting a trike from Nana & Papa for Christmas. Approved by Mommy - she said he'll love it! We also got him a sit-n-spin for Thanksgiving! He loves to crash & burn.

Our 11 mo old grandson is getting a baby leap pad & books! (other GS has one). His dad is a biology teacher (mom is a chef) so they highly approve of educational toys. However, his present is going to be for Hanukkah. For Thanksgiving, he's getting a dump truck that you put plastic shaped blocks in the truck. If you press the driver's head, it makes noise and scoots across the floor!

Ooh! I can hardly wait! Ya'll take care and hope to hear from some TK's & Lurkers soon.......it's been almost 12 hours since anyone's posted!

Did piercing Buddy do any ripple rings?

:earseek: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Nice scooby doo impression...;)

HollyAnn: Are your photos on your hard drive or on a website?

KR: Glad to see you finally feeling better.:teeth:

BP: Rare form as usual, good to see you avoiding mall trouble and sending the kids in to face the malls of doom!:upsidedow
and?

I added a new link in my siggie, more photos for everyone to see...:magnify:

It's a beautiful indian summer day in central jersey...supposed to be in the 60's all week!
:wave2:

We also got him a sit-n-spin for Thanksgiving!

Oooh, I love those things-they really need to make those in adult size!
(TW tantrum time) I want a sit n spin and I want it NOOOOW!(tantrum over)

TW - If you go back to (around) page 43 or 44 (I think) there's a great story regarding a ripple ring by BrerPapa! It might be 34.....it's worth checking out!

I did a search for ripple ring....

saw a story from BP...

stopped to read it.

Of course he had me...
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

~please, take notice-no soda spitting while :rotfl: ~

(BP as a Mom, I see thru your guise.
You may look like an
but you are more of a :upsidedow .)

How is that Customer Security job...?

:earseek:And I see you do indeed have a ripple ring:eek:

 Everyone, busy day here today.

Tomorrow is Alex's birthday and it is also his girlfriend, Jessica's birthday. ( I told him they just have to get married on Nov 18 and he never has to worry about forgetting the date of anything:teeth: ) Oh by the way it is also the cat's birthday tomorrow and I think it is Mickey Mouse's birthday too????

We are "celebrating" their birthdays here tonight. So I had to go to the grocery store and buy the requested ingredients for dinner.

Alex has asked for : roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, baked beans, fresh baked bread (frozen variety). I have added to the list mashed cauliflower recipe I wanted to try, stuffed mushroom cap recipe I wanted to try, carrots cooked with the roast, and coleslaw my mom is making and bringing with her.

Alex wanted cake from the local bakery for his dessert. It says Happy Birthday, Alex & Jessica. This bakery is peanut free so Alex can eat doughnuts, cakes and cookies from there and we also buy all of our bread from there too.

Invited both sets of grandparents over for dinner. So now I have to clean up.

Tomorrow they will celebrating their birthdays again at Jessica's parent's house. She always asks for spaghettit for dinner so that will be what they will have tomorrow.
