Where my son is going to be next week there will be no flushing at all:eek:

He is going on a wilderness canoe trip. Leaving on Saturday and returning Wednesday night.

The only ummm, facilities they will get will be the ones they dig for themselves:crazy2:

Nothing like squatting in a hole...LOL! :crazy2:

Cruisin - tell your DS the dimensions for a well dug facility is 1 foot by 1 foot by 1 foot! That's what the Marine Corps Manual states! Believe it or not, in bootcamp they test you on that! He'll be the absolute hit of the campsite darling..............

Only thing worse than that is hearing Grandpa say...

"grab a shovel...we're moving the outhouse..."

After you moved the outhouse and you snuck out in the middle of the night - did you ever go to the old spot?

Oh My! LOL :scared: :scared: :scared:

From stories he has told Kevin, they actually sometimes find a convenient rock that they can use for a makeshift seat ::yes::

I will quiz him tomorrow about the size regulations that they use, Hollyann. I don't know if the scout rules are the same as the Marine Corps or not ;)

Not my idea of a fun time, out with the bears and the bugs and the hand-dug latrines but to each his own I guess. At least it gets him out of the house for 5 days :smooth:

Oh Kim...........

You know it IS 3am. She might have fallen asleep at her keyboard! Quick, someone post the Cheers music and wake her up!

EEK! Five days in the wilderness? No thanks! I'd look like this by the fifth day :

I know you're not going to believe this, but I actually know what ROFLMAO means! My brother told me! Every time I read ROFLMAO I pause at each letter and say it outloud!

Here's more....

Grandpa had a hand pump by the sink in the kitchen...you rimed it....grabbed the handle and pumped....until the water flowed...into the bucket...

he was the envy of the neighborhood....

the fridge was an actual ice box...he delivered ice long ago...and coal...

you put the block ice in back...therewas a drip pan that automatcally watered the pets..

the coal went down a chute...you used a special shovel...a hod i think it was called... to shovel the coal into the furnace...

his cooking stove was wood fired...yo used these tongs to lift the burners off the top...

and after cooking supper...you tonged embers into a gizmo that bears a strong resemblance to todays irons....and you put those in your bed...to warm it up...

sheesh...i could go on....ol

It works! It Works! Now if we could just wake up Kim. On the count of three everyone call her name.

Ready......one..........two...........threeeeee.................

KIM!!!

For the longest time I had no clue what it meant and I would look at people that used it and say to myself, "what the hell is that?" LOL. I also thought that LOL was lot of love. Ah yes...the good 'ol days.

I know Hollyann, I do the same thing with the letters, crazy huh.

I know 5 days in the wilderness, no showers, no toilets, no thanks!!!

He only plans on wearing one set of clothes and taking another set to change into :faint: He says that they will just go swimming in their clothes and that will clean them good enough.

Good thing it is all guys going this time ::yes::

Ya know, BP, everything was a little harder, but the simple life has it's own charm. Believe me, there are days I would trade with your Grandpa. Our time has many wonderful features, but so did theirs. You're lucky to have those memories of days gone by.

OMG, I'm getting sappy!

They used one of those iron things with them embers in it on Pirates of the Caribbean. No way would that thing ever be in my bed...I'd rather go cold...
