Who else LOVED Star Trek?

As a dedicated long time Trekker, the only thing I asked my DD13 for for Mother's Day way to go see Star Trek with me. She resisted since she has never seen a single episode of the original (where did I go wrong? :confused3) but eventually agreed to go as a favor to Mom. :cloud9:

Well, she loved it, although she did not get any of the great references to the original. Great cast, lots of action, plenty of humor. I was expecting to love it and I did; I was amazed at how much like the original characters these new ones were, yet they were different enough to be interesting. I can't wait for the next movie! (And I got choked up several times during this one: that first shot of the Enterprise, when the old Spock told Kirk "I have been and always shall be your friend" from when he 'died' in one of the earlier movies, the theme music and narration from the original.... I am such a sentimental cry baby)

I just got back from the movies. I LOVED IT!! I'm the Trekkie of the family but everyone really enjoyed the movie - even DH. I'll probably go back and see it again next weekend. If I can wait that long.

Fantastic Movie!!!!!!! The whole family enjoyed it....

It was very well done.

Dh didn't love it, which surprised me, but I absolutely did! And so did dd9! Maybe it was because Kirk was such yummy eye candy-my child does have good taste;). I loved the references from the originals (like cheating on the test), and the Uhura/Spock thing was:scared1:.

Oh, I cried after the opening scene, too. I chalked it up to pregnancy hormones!

Heck yeah!
Spock, Kirk, and even Kirk's dad were all really, really, REALLY good-looking! ;)

I saw it today; it was AMAZING! The only other Star Trek movie that comes close is First Contact, and if First Contact was at sea level, this movie would be out of the atmosphere. :)

I loved everything about it! It was amazing, fantastic, brilliant, funny, true to character, had the best storyline, amazing actors, great music, sound, and visual effects...

I did cry at the opening, and I teared up at the "I have been and always shall be your friend" and at the narration. I was cheering right along with everyone else in the audience at the end. I don't think I've ever had so much fun at a movie. :)

"I have been and always shall be your friend" that really choked me up! The movie was great! DH wasn't able to go so I took DS. Now DH wants to see it too so I'll get to go again!:goodvibes

DH and I saw it today and LOVED IT!! :lovestruc:lovestruc He is going out of town tommorow and will be back on Friday and we are planning to see it again next weekend, we can't wait.

Not a trekkie by any means, but my mom, fiance, dad and I will be going to see it today for Mother's Day.

I hope it's as good as you all claim!! :)

Was my sons 12th birthday yesterday and he wanted to go see it.
My DH loves Star Trek, so I knew he would like it. Was I surpised-I LOVED it.
It was great to "see how it started". My DH and I would look at each other and mouth the words...You know...I'm giving her all she's got, Cap'n. Stuff like that.

Great movie, may have to go again.

I saw it and loved it! We had to the drag the teens with us but at least one of them enjoyed it as well.

On a side note, I know the guy who was played the security guard in the scene were Spock is accusing Kirk of cheating on the simulation. He didn't have speaking part but he was the guard standing behind Spock. He name is Justin Hall.

We saw it last night!!! EXCELLENT! They could not have made a better choice in casting the new Spock; Zachary Quinto was SPOT ON!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for a 12th installment. Yup, I'm a Trekker.

Bones wasn't bad either!

Has anyone seen it that was not a t.v Star Trek fan and love it?

My 9 yr old, if she counts! She kept talking about it all night!

I think all of them were dead on. They did a great job casting the whole movie.

I agree with a pp. By making this an alternate reality due to the time travel, they can make as many movies as they want now! They don't have to follow any kind of pattern. I hope to see many more of these!

Loved it! I can't wait to see it again -- and I never see movies in the theater twice but I will for this one. DH loved it too. We dragged our 11 year old son who has never like anything Star Trek and he loved it.

Early on I wasn't thrilled with a new ST movie coming out but as the months went on I got more and more excited. DH and I went tonite and WOW! LOVED it!

I have to ask though.....am I the only weirdo who got a little weepy with the narration at the end? (those who've seen it, I think you'll know what I'm talking about)
Gawd getting weepy just thinking about it! LOL

I did too. And with the opening sequence too....

I loved the movie and saw it twice!! Took Mom to see it for Mother's Day (although on Sat) and she was "WOW!" (she took us to see the first three when we were kids).

Our whole family loved...including DS14 who has never seen a single episode of Star Trek. DS was a little bit annoyed that he didn't "get" what some people were laughing about when the characters would do something so totally like the series, but he really enjoyed it.

I thought that the casting was absolutely inspired! My only quibble is that you could not see enough of Eric Bana's beautiful face:love:underneath his makeup, but The Time Travellers Wife is coming out later this Summer so I will get to see his gorgeous face then.

We ended up seeing it 3 times this weekend!

And the last showing that we saw we had to drag our daughter (age 15) practically kicking and screaming to go. I actually caught her chuckle several times during the movie AND when I asked her about it, naturally we got a :confused3 from her. But she did admit that it was "so-so" and that Kirk was hot. :worship:

So I think in teenage speak this means that she really liked it.
