Who else LOVED Star Trek?

And to answer the previous posters question about liking the movie and not liking the tv series. Count me in on that. I can't stand T.O.S.!

Count me in as a fan. My family totally loved the movie. I was a fan of the TV series back when, I loved some of the first set of films but then my interest dropped off as the quality slipped.

All I could think about during the movie was:
"Now THIS is what I wanted the new Star Wars films to be like"... sadly they disappointed me, but Star Trek did not:yay: totally worth the money IMO.

I also totally loved Wolverine and as a huge movie fan I am thrilled we are finally getting some decent entertainment back in the theaters.

I saw Star Trek Saturday. I have one word for this Trek Movie AWESOME!!!. Love the cast , The Special Effects were the best I have ever seen. I will see it again this weeknd because my Girlfriend's father got discount tickets for the Movies. Tyler Perry's Cameo was A Supprise. even seeing Leonard Nimoy made the movie the best trek Movie ever:thumbsup2

I ended up seeing it twice and LOVED IT both times :thumbsup2

I told my DDad, who is 80 and was a fan of the original Star Trek series, the he is going to have to go see it! (Dad also worked for NASA on the Saturn project and loves any kind of good space movie) :goodvibes

I usually wait for movies to come to the dollar theatre or come out on DVD, but we saw an early matinee on Saturday. D13 didn't want to see it, but we loved it so much that now we'll take her, too. I admit that I own the complete original series on DVD and love that. They did a very good job with the characters in the movie. I could totally see Chris Pine's Kirk turning into William Shatner's Kirk.

I saw Star Trek on Friday afternoon at the local IMax. I really liked it and I am a big SF fan. I thought that Spock was dreamy :lovestruc and Kirk was HOT. I also loved how the actor who played Bones had the mannerisms and voice down. Oh, and Uhura was hot *and* smart! You go girl :woohoo:.

Dd9, who I mentioned loved it even though she had never seen any other Trek films, usually dresses up like Cinderella or Hannah Montana. Today after school, she came in and wrapped a handkerchief around her head and announced that she was Spock's mother! She wore it all afternoon! :)

I saw it today; it was AMAZING! The only other Star Trek movie that comes close is First Contact, and if First Contact was at sea level, this movie would be out of the atmosphere. :)

I loved everything about it! It was amazing, fantastic, brilliant, funny, true to character, had the best storyline, amazing actors, great music, sound, and visual effects...

I did cry at the opening, and I teared up at the "I have been and always shall be your friend" and at the narration. I was cheering right along with everyone else in the audience at the end. I don't think I've ever had so much fun at a movie. :)

Sounds like my experience when I saw The Undiscovered Country. Saw it on opening night with some buddies and a theatre full of fans that erupted at the end when Chang's ship was blown up and applauded as the cast's signatures appeared on the screen at the end.

I snuck away this afternoon to see it and WOW!!! It's definitely up there with Wrath of Khan, First Contact, and Undiscovered Country. The casting was great, especially Zachary Quinto as Spock and Chris Pine as Kirk. The story was very good and (spoiler) the whole alternate universe thing works in a Star Trek-ky way that should satisfy long-time fans who may be opposed to a wholesale reboot while opening things for new movies featuring the original crew. The villain, Nero, wasn't near as memorable a foil as Khan or Chang from Undiscovered Country, but that's about the only weak point.

My 14yr old dd gets so annoyed when people clap at the end of movies.... but, she loved it so much... she clapped!!!!

She asked to see it again... I might even go to the IMAX to see it!!!

Wow... great movie!!!

I loved it so much I have seen it 3 times and might just see it once more before the long wait for it to arrive on dvd!!!!!!!!! Hopefully by the time it comes out I will have a nice new 32" lcd for my bedroom

Yes, Nero was kinda weak as a villian. Definitely no Khan. And it looked like Mike Tyson got ahold of his ear.... :lmao:

Did ya notice the tribble at the Federation outpost where they found Scotty? There was one hidden in one of the scenes there.

And if you didn't see it, you could HEAR it. ;)

You know ... my 9-year old DD didn't want to go see it but I think she would really enjoy it. Hmmm ... there could be a second showing in my future. It's only at the IMAX for another week ...

We saw it on Friday.

I was a very casual Trekkie - not a new Trekker - in that I've seen several of the original TV shows, and know who Capt. Kirk, Spock, Bones McCoy, Scotty, Checkov, Sulu, and Uhura are.

And our kids knew nothing about the show.

That said, we really, really enjoyed it. I had to lean over and whisper to DD a few times - "Bones, he's the doctor. Scotty's the engineer. He's in charge of beaming people up or down" "Uhura is the languages/communications expert" and "Romulans are the bad guys"
But they caught on pretty quick.

The story line was engaging from the beginning - DD says "Oh, that's so sad".

The new cast were spot-on in their characterizations - they may not look exactly like Shatner and Nimoy, but they portrayed the personalities perfectly!

I was hoping for a cameo from Shatner, but it didn't happen.

Eric Bana was unrecognizable as Nero! He was an excellent villain.

The biggest complaint I had was that young Kirk was NOT hot rodding in Iowa. There are no rock cliffs or canyons like that in Iowa, and certainly not in Riverside, which is the future birthplace of James T. Kirk.

And for those who remember Randy Pausch, the computer science professor who died last year and wrote "The Last Lecture" - he has a small role in the beginning of the movie. As the USS Kelvin is being attacked, he is the Star Fleet member who runs by, saying "We have visual, Captain!". He talked about being a Trekker in his book, and how excited he was to be able to be a part of this new movie. He especially prized an autographed photo of William Shatner, in which he wrote Randy's favorite line, "I don't believe in the no-win situation" - which played prominently in this movie as well.

I was wondering if they would do an "In Memoriam" to Randy Pausch, but they only listed Gene Roddenberry and his wife.

I also have to say that I am not a bog fan of star trek...but I loved it...
