Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

We're talking about two different groups of people. I'm referring to people who ARE savvy and research their trips. But Disney has made significant policy changes without notifying anyone. Those are the people I'm talking about being blindsided. They did their due diligence and prepared and then Disney pulled the rug out from under them, not telling them until they check into their resort.

That's the thing about using the "average" FP usage... many people didn't bother, some didn't use them because they thought it cost money, some just arrived too darn late on a busy day. All of those people not using the system causes the average to plummet very fast. If you only sample those guests who actually used FP and not divide by the total park attendance, you'd get a much different figure. Add to this... the average probably is for all parks, which would skew it even lower because of fewer FP rides in other parks.

If they really wanted to use FP they would have come at RD.

Holy crap, Batman! This is one for the record books. Using more than your "fair share" of FPs has been derided by many (I guess we've finally determined that our fair share is 3), but this is the first time I've actually seen someone make the ridiculous claim that we STOLE those FPs from them. :scared1:

Really, that is a little over board. Maybe I should have used the word stealing I dont think I deserved them and someone else got them. I am saying that when people talk about 'hording' (their words not mine) it is essentially 'stealing the opportunity' from others.

It was a poor choice of words on my part.

At least Disney hasn't gone the way of Universal and started charging for offsite guests to use FP+ and having the price be determined by seasonality of the park attendance. And if Disney does this, more power to them. They are a business and if their direct competitior can succeed in charging for a product like FP+ they could as well.[/QUOTE]

I hope they never start charging extra at Disney. I think it's hard to compare Disney to Universal in this situation. We usually stay one night at a Universal hotel to get express pass ( we don't even check out of our main hotel). I think the difference is that even in the dimmer you can get everything done at Universal in 2 days and that includes riding headliners multiple times. So I don't mind paying the extra. However the extra cost for me to stay on site at SSR compared to Bonnet Creek is literally 4 times more and I just don't think 3 fast passes is worth that. Even unlimited wouldn't be.

No problem. We can all get carried away using hyperbole at times (just ask mom2rtk). It was just so jarring to actually see in writing what I suspect some around here actually believe.

ETA: In the spirit of goodwill, Captain Picard has rescinded his facepalm. :lmao:

This is why I can believe that only 50% of guests used FP. I do think that Disney would prefer that more guests use FP to assist in scheduling, levelize crowds around parks and between parks, and (theoretically) shorten headliner wait times. Will it work like they wish? Probably not. Will it be "better"? For some yes, for others no. Do I like all the changes? No, but I can see benefits from individual pieces. Would it be realistic to expect Disney to implement a change that only benefited me and my touring style? No, so I'll take the good and bad together. Trying to maximize the former while minimizing the latter.

Let's assume for one ridiculous moment this is what happened every day.

How did it impact your day? Did you get run over? Did hoarders steal your FPs?

I know right. Our last trip we were there with 3 2 yr olds..there was no running. We had at least 8 FP in MK. We walked very leisurely everywhere and it was mid June. My oldest grabbed a second FP for space after dinner and was able to use it before we went to our tomorrowland terrace fireworks party at 7ish. We didn't run there. No humans were harmed in the acquisition of our FP.

How much people watching do you do at wdw? This is exactly what they do

None, I'm too busy running people over for my extra fp....;-)

Yeah, by all means, I don't think that people are really stealing from people. I used to be one that used many FP's per day over multiple parks. I know my trip will not be the same but I am sure it will still be great!!

It will be more than 3, and we will be able to make them in different parks; it's only a matter of time before that information is public.

Whoooaa.... that's some pretty significant news right there. I hope it's true and didn't come from a bus driver?

I wasn't kidding about the turkey leg technique, though.

Seriously, I wasn't.

Okay, maybe I was.

But I wasn't.

Wish I knew how to use the rofl smiley on my phone. That is funny!

.... Disney would prefer 75% of guests to access the system.

Yep that's pretty much sums it up. My argument is that this system makes sense for Disney- they have to be utilitarian in their systems because they want to satisfy as many people as possible.

Disney wants to spread the usage of FPs. Even if they distributed the same amount of FPs as under the old system their goal is to have more families make use of FP+ than made use of legacy.

You seem to know a lot about what Disney wants.

Care to share the source of your knowledge?

The optimist in me wants to believe that Disney really does "want to satisfy as many people as possible".

The pessimist in me thinks they don't really care about satisfying "as many people as possible" as long as they satisfy enough people to have a net positive gain in profits.

The realist in me knows that they aren't going to invest a billion dollars on something unless they are confident they can use it to make back that money and then some. The reality is that they expect to make more than a billion dollars from this "next gen" system. And the only place that money can come from is us. We don't know how we are going to pay for it yet, but believe me, we will pay for it.

I NEVER wish I wasn't planning my next trip to Disney! That would be insane! pixiedust:

no doubt well pay for it, that will come once the system is completed.
