Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

The interesting part about bringing up the purchase of a second ticket is that we can establish the ceiling price for 3 additional FP+ slots.

Not worth it to me, but it gives us some parameters.

I wish Disney had never created Fastpass so that we didn't have to listen to people complain about it. They're trying to improve the system and stay on top of the changing technology and stay current. If you don't like the system, don't use it. Easy enough. Or you could go to universal where they are charging for this service and using it as a cash grab.

Apples and oranges. But, if you want to look at it that way:
Imagine how excited everyone on here would be if Disney was able to offer what Universal can offer. Those staying onsite (at a deluxe hotel at moderate prices!) get unlimited fast pass to all rides with a couple exceptions. Imagine if you were staying at POR or AKL or similar and were able to have UNLIMITED access to all the rides except, say, TSMM and Soarin. How easy touring would be!
And for those not staying on site, you can buy a pass that lets you have FP for each ride one time (with the couple exceptions). How many folks on here who are staying offsite on their upcoming trips would love to just be able to spend a little extra $ to not have to deal with wasting time at a kiosk grabbing at a few leftovers.

I hardly think that we can say Disney has a better system when they offer 3 compared to unlimited. :confused3

That said, one of the things I've always admired about Disney is that they have treated everyone equal. It didn't matter if you were staying at the Grand Floridian, All-Stars, Comfort Inn or camping in the streets. Everyone had EQUAL access to the previous FP system. NOBODY had an advantage. Sure, there were people who didn't take advantage of what was in front of them. But, you can lead a horse to water......

Now they've gone and created a class system and that annoys me. It won't have a huge affect on me, as we always stay on site and are rope drop people, but it annoys me that they are treating people this way.

Someone posted that they think they keep FP+'s aside for off-site guests, but I personally don't think that is true. I think that come President's week, we are going to see some offsite guests upset when they can't get a FP+ for TSMM, Soarin etc....

I have loved WDW since the 70's and I will still go and have a wonderful vacation. That doesn't mean that when they take things away from their guests, I have to be happy about it and not complain.:thumbsup2

That class system could get worse. Some people want to see others staying at a particular level of resort get more FP+. They spend more so they should get more or so they say. True but it's a class distinction no matter how it's justified.

And Universal has nothing to do with this. I've said it many times and I'll continue to do so - Universal's situation is nothing like Disney's. We've visited the Universal parks without Express many times and have been able to see all that we wish. Will the same be true at the Disney parks? Only time will tell.

Also, some throw out that a trip to WDW is important so that family can spend time together. I can spend quality family time anywhere so I don't see how that is a good argument for FP+.

We're going this summer. It's our Silver anniversary, our son turns 16 and both of our daugthers graduate (one from elementary school, one from middle school)-- all within 3 weeks.

In addition, my brother in law from upstate and my sister in law, from California, are joining us there.

So I'm thrilled to be planning a trip!!!

But, in thinking about it, I think this trip has the potential to be so much better than past trips in terms of logistics. Because this will be the trip, more than any in the past, where knowledge is power.

Think about it for a second... all the people who won't know about FP+:
- All those who have always booked a trip and gotten on a plane with no research.
- All those who assumed that working through a travel agent meant they got all the info the needed... there are bound to be a lot of travel agents who are simply unaware of the changes.
- All those who have been to WDW in the past, and who will assume they know all there is to know-- and who won't find about FP+.

Those are the people I feel bad for.

We'll be at the parks at rope drop, because that's how we do Disney. We'll hit all the headliners while those other people are in the shops at Main Street, sleeping, or eating their Mickey pancakes. Then, when we hit the point of diminishing returns at lunchtime, we'll have lunch and head back to Stormalong Bay, perhaps using the first of our 3 FP+'s before we leave.

We'll return after dinner and hit the headliners again, using our other 2 FP's.

I'm never happy NOT to be planning a trip. But this year, in particular, I think we'll have a more special than usual trip.

Nothing would ever improve if nobody pointed out the parts needing improvement.

I'm always glad to have a trip to WDW planned, life is to short to worry about the small stuff. We will have a great time. On the other hand we have shared our concerns about MM+ with Disney and hopefully many others do the same. Hopefully they will tweak it so that it works better for most people, and we will tweak our touring so that it works better with the new system.

How about those of us that are upset that we DO have a trip scheduled right now?

Two weeks out, and I still haven't been able to book a FP for Soarin' for past 6 pm on Feb 3. That totally screws up my touring plan, and I'm NOT happy about it.

This system blows.

There is no way with legacy Fastpass you would have ever been assured of getting a Fastpass for Soarin' at a certain time, so how is this worse?

I think that is what they have done, make it work for most people.

Because that is supposed to be one of the benefits of the "+" thing? :confused3

I couldn't have checked the app's return times occasionally while in Epcot so I knew when to get an FP? :confused3

And then there is that. But that would be considered "working the system".

ABUSE! Sound the klaxon! Gather up your pitchforks and torches!

On a serious note, I have moved from being a negative nelly naysayer to being glad I don't have a trip planned right now to seeing how this whole thing pans out before deciding whether to go back to seriously reconsidering a DVC purchase that I've been saving up for. I'm sure this post will be followed by a chorus of "good riddance" posts saying I should not go if Disney makes me so miserable.

That does assume that you are in the park all day, and not everyone does that.

Or I could use LINES which tells me the Fp return time whether I am in my hotel room or sitting on my couch in the Midwest. It wasn't rocket science.

The PP said "no way". I offered an easy way. As someone interested in my factual and precise definition of "headliner", I would think you'd see the truth in that.

I just went in and can book a fp for soarin up to 8:30 on Feb 3

It's worse because of the way I'm locked into the other days of my trip via the FP system, so the strategy of RD one park and hopping to another to use your FP+ selections isn't going to work. With the old system, I would have simply shown up in the morning and gotten a FP with zero problem.

Maybe my app is glitched, then, because I can't.

EDIT: I also can't pull the rest of my party into ETWB at 1 pm on Sunday because they are out of early FP+ slots and can't accommodate 3 people. So, the earliest time slot available that would include all four of us is 2:55, which doesn't work for us. This system is a mess. I hate this.

And then you would have to transport yourself to the park to claim your FP.

That IS rocket science.

You are correct. Assuming that you were in the park early enough (before all of the FPs were gone) , you could have watched the return times and rushed over to The Land as soon as the FP return time fell into your desired return time.

My touring style involved 3 parks per day. I was always on it. If that is considered rocket science then I am way smarter than people give me credit for. ;)
