Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

I'm not sure why people are hating on the new system.

Do they hate the fact that you get just three extra bonus fast passes with the bands? It's only 3 per day. You can still get reg fast pass. It does not make the lines any longer.

There are no regular fast pass anymore. AK and MK are both Fastpass+ now and in the next couple of days the same will be true for Epcot and DHS. The total number of fast passes you can get per day now is 3, and at Epcot and DHS those three are actually tiered to where you have to choose between headliners. No more fast passing Soarin and Test Track, now you have to choose one or the other.

The three FPs you get with your magic band are it period, they are not a "bonus", the paper fast pass kiosks are covered up and will soon be removed.

Doesn't matter if you think I'm in my right mind or not. I had a great time in December, and will have a great time again in April, with my husband.

If Disney World makes you miserable, don't go! :thumbsup2

Right!! I went in December expecting to really hate the bands and everything about them..but ended up loving them. I will miss being able to pull extra paper fast passes...but we've just changed up our touring plans a little and still have a blast.

Not any more....soon the paper fast passes will be a thing of the past.

We leave on Saturday for Disney and I am looking forward to the FP+ / Magic Band additions. It means I don't have to get to the parks for rope drop, I can sleep in a little, and no fighting the masses for paper fast passes. The rides I most want to go on are already reserved. As far as I'm concerned Disney made things a whole lot easier for my family. Are there glitches when things first role out? Sure, but that is to be expected. Nothing works perfectly all of the time, even when on vacation. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Well said! We will be there having a great time too, while the naysayers sit at their computers and complain.:goodvibes

There is an in-between ;). I'm a naysayer who will still be there having a great time :goodvibes. Call me crazy, but I just can't find it in my heart to be thrilled with less fp's and less flexibility than I enjoyed on past trips. I can't jump up and down with joy about riding Soarin' once instead of the multiple times I am accustomed to. This doesn't mean I won't have an amazing time in February though.

I will admit that I think the magic bands are cool - at least if they work correctly.

My experience was that the lines were longer. I especially noticed it with attractions that did not used to have fp's. Maybe that will work itself out, but in October, that was the case. My problems with it are the less flexible schedule, the fact that I can't get fp's in a second park if I hop, the longer lines at some attractions, the availability of only one fp per ride, and the glitchy system. I feel that I am getting less for my money, and I'm disappointed that Disney didn't put that money into some wonderful new attraction.

As far as coming back often, not everybody can do that. And this is why some people are glad that they don't have a trip planned now. If you can only get there once every other year or so, it might be better to go when things might be better. Personally, I love that atmosphere and my kids are older, so its not as crucial to ride everything anyway. I'll be back as often as I can, but I can understand why some feel differently.

I feel bad those who drink the koolaid and have taken the title of apologist.

Magpie you know you can't say that. Haters want to hate, complainers want to complain, but they still retain the right to be indignant when you tell them not to go WDW anymore

"I don't like what Disney is doing , but I'm going to keep going to Disney and I'm going to keep complaining and no one has the right to tell me not to" :snooty::snooty::snooty:

Skater, I feel the same way you do - in between - still love Disney but not thrilled with less FPs and less flexibility. Added to that, we tend to stay off site (due to our timeshare) more often than on site and the whole off site/FP+ issue is still up in the air. I am very glad my family got our WDW and DLR trips in this past June and July before FP+ went mainstream. We tend to go every two years or so, so the FP+ dust will be settled, and DIS will be full of new FP+ maximization strategies by the time we go again. I am very happy our vacation schedule works out that way.

If you want to figure out why people are hating on the new system you might want to read about what the new system actually is first. I mean, if you're gonna tell people how they should feel about their vacations, shouldn't you at least learn what the situation actually is?

Bonus FP+ would be nice. Too bad the bonus FP you speak of are the only FP.

That is because HS closes at 7 that day!

Which shouldn't affect Soarin'.

The real problem is showing itself. Lowest crowd week of the year and late FP options are already gone. I'd be pissed if I had only been able to book day-of.

#2 is not accurate, not all Fastapasses can be booked in advanced. A percentage is held for same day bookings.

Yes you are correct, your style of park touring and use of Fastpass is over and you are not going to be happy with the changes.

People who were able to get multiple Fastpasses for headliners on the same day and even in different parks are going to be disappointed, as that is one of the main reasons for the changes.

Because what has happened is they have listened to the complaints of the masses that never got "any" fastpasses at all due to those that had multiples.

So yes you are right, I will coincide that some will be unhappy their way of touring at the expense of hundreds, thousands of others will end. You were not wrong to do this because it was allowed. But they have seen the error of the old system and fixed it to please more people.

I haven't seen any confirmation that a certain percentage are left for same day bookings. Even if that's true, which it probably is, #2 is still accurate. Offsite guests are still left with only a fraction of what would have been available to them at the beginning of each day with the old system.

Our way of touring was not at the expense of anyone except those who made a choice not to use FP. Whether or not someone was able to get a FP depended on when they arrived at the parks and how busy the parks were. With a couple of exceptions (TSMM and maybe Christmas and Easter weeks), FP's were available for most rides well into the afternoon. So anyone who wanted to get a FP for their favorite attraction was able to get one as long as they got to the park sometime before noon.

And I find it extremely unlikely that FP+ has anything to do with Disney listening to complaints about the old FP system. Do you have any evidence to show that there were lots of complaints? The goal of FP+ is to get people to commit early to being in the Disney parks and lock them into spending their money at Disney.

As someone else posted on another thread, all of these can be solved by buying two tickets per person... except for your number two -- the no advance reservations thing. For that, you'll have to stay on site.

Is this a joke?
Are you seriously suggesting that people should buy two tickets per person?
I'm not happy about FP+, but that unhappiness is nothing compared to how I would feel if Disney suddenly DOUBLED the price of all their tickets.

Not me, I wish I was there right now!!!

We went in November and had a perfectly fine experience with rope drop and FP+, didn't pull any paper passes at all.

Me too!!! I wish I were there! I had no problems and short wait times :)

While I think it is sarcastic- technically this would work AFAIK. And Disney wouldn't be doubling the price of their tickets- you would still get in at the normal price; however, if you wanted more FP+ you could buy additional tickets. I don't know why you would do this but I think it would work...:confused3
