Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

I will be there in 45 days! I can't wait! I know people who have been there recently and didn't have any issues. If I have any issues I will make the best of it!

As someone else posted on another thread, all of these can be solved by buying two tickets per person... except for your number two -- the no advance reservations thing. For that, you'll have to stay on site.

Actually you don't have to "stay" on site. One can easily book on site for the days one needs instead. Far easier than being forced into taking a property that doesn't (choose whichever best suits you) :
a) suit your needs
b) isnt luxurious enough
c) service isn't at the level you prefer
d) overpriced for what it is
e) isn't big enough for your family size
f) get you away from the madness

For us its a combo of a, b, c and f and for that reason we're going to book the least expensive thing we can find on property for the days we wish to do rides (just a couple) out of our 2 wk trip in Sept while we enjoy our preferred accommodation. So while we will have an onsite booking we wont be "staying" onsite.

The two tickets thing isn't needed for us....we don't need more than 3 fp's really....but i'll be darned if we have to get there at 8 am to get on anything without waiting for an hour...lol

Aside from giving everyone who wants them a dozen FP's a day, which would essentially turn the FP lines into standby lines, what would you suggest as a remedy to this? Anyone?

Expand the parks maybe? At least at the rate they add resorts and DVC?

I myself am very excited to go back in May. We were just there in Sept. and were bummed Boardwalk wasn't testing the bands. I can't wait to have fun with it.

Maybe I am less upset with all the changes b/c my memory of Disney was with my parents during busy season and waiting in line for hours for rides. Just to have the option of FP for three rides is good enough for me.

Our touring style helps too- we are less about riding as many rides as possible- or even all the rides just once. If we miss out on a new ride b/c of a long wait it won't ruin our vacation.

To each their own.

I am pretty sure magic band as going to be in Disneyland sooner than later!

It certainly won't be there in 3 weeks OR this year. If you think the AP holders in FL are pissed about FP+ then you haven't seen anything until it hits DL. :scared1:

How about those of us that are upset that we DO have a trip scheduled right now?

Two weeks out, and I still haven't been able to book a FP for Soarin' for past 6 pm on Feb 3. That totally screws up my touring plan, and I'm NOT happy about it.

This system blows.

I wish Disney had never created Fastpass so that we didn't have to listen to people complain about it. They're trying to improve the system and stay on top of the changing technology and stay current. If you don't like the system, don't use it. Easy enough. Or you could go to universal where they are charging for this service and using it as a cash grab.

I really think we are all forgetting something important. Holidays are about people not things. A vacation is about spending time reconnecting with family, with friends, having some hard earned downtime from work and school and the stress of life. Maybe things at .disney ain't what they used to be but frankly they haven't been for some time. The individualized merchandise has gone, the restaurants ain't what they used to be the menus have been dumbed down. The parks need a facelife more headline rides and I could go on.

But the enjoyment of it is all about attitude. We were there last August and yes it was before fast pass + but it was hot and crowded as we knew it would be and we didn't get many of the things done we wanted to and we also had some major life stress things happen while we were there life having difficulties with a house purchase across the Atlantic that took a lot longer than it should have and my daughter not getting into her university of choice but her second choice.

However we had a blast because we as a family shook off our worries and were determine to enjoy ourselves. We didnt know when we would be back heck we didn't even know when we would be traveling as a party of five again as my daughter was leaving home but we had a blast. If the parks were too crowded we skipped a ride and went back to the hotel and swam, or we went to the water parks, we hired a boat, we had an extra meal out, we spent an afternoon just viewing the animals at AKV, we toured the resorts, we played mini golf. We laughed as a family and created many many memories that we will have for years to come and many of those days have next to no roller coasters in them and we love roller coasters. We had a blast one night just sitting at Downtown Disney having an ice cream Sundae listening to the music and talking about past holidays.

I think it is all in the attitude, yeah .disney has changed things, yeah it might not suit some people but if you go pissed off you will be pissed off and you will have spent a fortune to be pissed off. I am not a Disney apologist I can see what is deteriorating from the experience of 15 years ago I am just determine to enjoy my friends and family while I still have them and not allow not getting on test track one more time to ruin my enjoyment of being with them.

Life is way too short and family time way to rare to waste sweating the small stuff and frankly stacked up against life's stresses how many times you ride splash mountain to me is definitely small stuff.

We will be off site at the end of March. There is no way Im stepping foot in a Disney park with no fast pass option in March.
I am okay with it, Disney is a business and they have to do what's best for them.
Im only doing what's best for me.

I will watch closely what happens the next couple of years, (at which point we'll be snowbirds in Orlando) then make my decision on either buying APs for Disney, or APs for Universal/SeaWorld/Busch/wet n wild (which combined are less than a Disney AP)
Again if it turns out Disney is not what I choose, no big deal.

Selfishly, I hope the OP's feelings are widespread(to keep the crowds down :darth:, but they don't apply to me.

I just made my selections for an early Feb trip and I am looking forward to seeing it in action.

The kids were excited to pick their magic band colors and get them so quickly(OK me too ) And I thought the thumb drive was a really cool way to show how the system could work.

I'm glad Disney hasn't gotten gun-shy about innovating, even with the bumps and the whining that comes along with it.

I don't know that I am ever glad when I don't have a trip planned.

I feel bad those who drink the koolaid and have taken the title of apologist.

Doesn't matter if you think I'm in my right mind or not. I had a great time in December, and will have a great time again in April, with my husband.

If Disney World makes you miserable, don't go! :thumbsup2

We have a trip planned for October 2014 to go to the Food and Wine Festival in celebration of DD's 21st birthday. We have had these tentative plans for about 5 years, and now it's time to put them into the works. I bought points from a DVC member so we'll be at BWV for 4 nights/5 days in October.

We have never been rope drop people. I pretty much threw in the towel on the trip where we had a 7:30 ADR for a CRT breakfast (the girls were 2, 5, and 9), and nobody wanted to wake up at 6am! Even when DD and my nieces were little, we would stay up late to close a park, see the fireworks, etc., and sleep in the next morning. For us, park arrival time has always been between 10 and 11am. Even though some shudder at this, we have always had wonderful trips, riding all the headliners- some more than once- and pulling maybe 6 FPs per day at MK. When DD was little we'd pull her from school to go to WDW during the slow times, but once she hit 8th grade, we became summer visitors.

I am apprehensive about our trip in October but decided to take a wait-and-see approach. I DETEST THE NEW FP+ GARBAGE. It annoys me that due to tiering I can only ride one headliner without hitting the l-o-o-o-o-n-g standby lines (we waited 90 min in a TSMM standby line once; NEVER again, and that was with legacy FP in effect); that I can only use my daily FP allotment in ONE park; and that I can only get three FPs at all on any given day. I am trying to be optimistic, and hope that the major bugs in the system are worked out before my trip. I am waiting to see what happens during busy times, like Feb. school break, March school breaks, Easter weekend, and JULY. How FP+ works during these times will determine whether I allow myself a major freak-out, and whether we get a 2 day Disney PH and a 2 day Universal pass, or do all 4 days at Disney. It makes me angry that after spending tens of thousands of dollars at Disney, having wonderful vacations that perfectly suited my family, I am now going to have to plan every blessed minute, get up early in the morning, and be unable to ride the attractions we want as many times we want. We are getting FAR less for MORE money, and it makes me mad. However, I am waiting, waiting, waiting before giving up on what was supposed to be the most special Disney trip ever! Time will tell...

That is because HS closes at 7 that day!

Well said! We will be there having a great time too, while the naysayers sit at their computers and complain.:goodvibes

I'm not sure why people are hating on the new system.

Do they hate the fact that you get just three extra bonus fast passes with the bands? It's only 3 per day. You can still get reg fast pass. It does not make the lines any longer.

I went a few times already and going next week. It's so simple now. The bands are truly amazing. Everything is faster.

If you get to the park as soon as rope drops then you have no excuses. You can ride everything you want and have fast passes to spare. It's all about timing and planning. It always has been. You can't just waltz Into disney at noon and expect instant gratification. You also need to check when is the busy time and avoid that. Like summer or holidays. It's all about the planning. One just does not go into disney unprepared. I mean you can and you can wing it. But you can't get mad at the fact you didn't do the prep work.

I'm a Floridian who has annual passes. I go all the time different times of the year. I know what to expect. I plan my trip around all the crazy times. When my kids were little I pulled them out of school to enjoy the quiet times. When we went when it was busy we prepped ourselves for that. During the week is the slowest. Weekends are just jammed packed.

I stayed in animal kingdom in the second week of december. It was slow. Quiet almost. I rode everything I wanted too. It was beautiful. It was prolly the most smoothest trip ever. The bands make entering the park so freaking fast. Especially at magic kingdom. That place gets crazy busy fast cause it's the most loved. Go early. Plan. Have back up plans. Don't sweat the small stuff. Make it magical. And come back often. You will never be able to ride everything in one day anyhow. And each visit is its own experience.
